Born and raised in Fresno California this brings me back to my youth. A few things I know about Latinos ( at my generation)that I grew up around….. 1. You didn’t see SH*%# T ! 2. Never have your car painted by anyone other than them. They’ll do it in their garage with minimal equipment and roll out a G*# Damn MASTERPIECE! 3. Never look at a Latinas man. If he’s looking at you best to just leave. 4. Tattoos-see number 2. Same applies. 5. Never ever think you’re tighter than a family member. 6. These guys can work on, repair and customize automobiles with minimal tools better than just about any high dollar out fit I’ve ever seen! 5. Do I even need to mention the food? Their food trucks are better than most restaurants charging 5x’s the price. 6. Hand writing and poetry, again, an art form for many of them and blow us away. Sure do like video’s of seeing you all rolling around in beautiful cars. Miss the cruising days. ❤
Chicano culture is Black Culture with “Chicano” as the label. Wearing Bandanas, Low-Riders, Graffiti aka Street Art is everything West Coast Black ppl were doing in the late 60s and 70s. I’ve been to Mexico, and Mexicans who are proud of their heritage/ country don’t even dress that way or do graffiti. Even the song in this video comes from a song Tupac did called “Po N!99a Blues” 😂😂😂
You're completely 100% wrong. Lowriders came from mexican-americans all the way from the 50s and even earlier, back then they didn't even bounce, they simply lowered the suspension a lot which is where the name Lowrider came from. The clothes and style all have origins from the pachucos during the Zoot suit era, chicanos who got imprisoned also created new styles such as the long socks, while also adopting the cortez because of the cesar cortez thing and workwear because of their humble origins in the hood. The reason why you don't see mexicans like that in México Is because chicano culture is looked down on over there, obviously because of the gangbanging aspect, there's also a big beef between chicanos and mexicans because of the treatment that mexicans used to get from mexican-americans in the past. Basically mexicans hate chicano culture because to them it's shameful to be associated with people who managed to get better opportunities yet still prefered the vida loca, while also hating it because of pure resentment after years of being looked down on by chicanos. Black people used to dress like that during the 70s-90s but to say that raza took it from them? It's the other way around, that's why during the 90s the amount of black guys in flannels and dickies dropped a little, by the 2000s they were already non existent, replacing all that attire with brands such as fubu, g-unit, southpole, crown holder, red monkey and more. Chicanos even up to this day still preserve all this because it's already a culture beyond gangbanging, african americans on the other hand simply got out of the bus after they kept developing their own style, nothing wrong with that but this? 100% raza, no dissing or anything, it's just a way of life.

Lame foo, dressed like that to be a gangster? I dressed like this because that’s all we could afford that’s the basis of our roots not to look hard. Most fools in most ghettos dress like this, hitting people just to bang is lame.

Good point you made. I rock with flannels and Dickies pants without drawing attention upon myself. Also, I have no tattoos, etc. Never been hit up bcuz out in the public or streets, I tend to mind my own business....that always works for me.

The name for the Mexican Mariachi and Marichi (one letter difference) Romanized as Marīci which means "ray of light" the son of Brahma and on the movie La Bamba when on the radio their announcing the death of Ritchie Valens and his mother Connie Valenzuela played by Rosanna DeSoto says, "not my Richie".
The string bands such as Mariachi have been popular in Mexico since the colonial era which began in 1521 and that happens to be around the same time that people from India arrived in Mexico.

We were also one of the few African-American Catholic families in the church. I was raised Catholic and most of my friends went to Catholic school, but we have a very multi racial family, which includes Cuban and I enjoyed being part of my Chicano friends families because they always treated me and my brothers like family and it was a blessing.
