yoooo that was fire! 🔥 👏🏾👏🏾 i haven't seen Beau slam in hella long + i'm pretty sure i hadn't heard this piece at all - this is one i would've remembered. LOL _so_ glad i ran across this video. 🖤✊🏾
This was one of my favorite poems on this particular season. There were some great poets on that season, actually. They need to put more Def Poetry DVDs out because it's so hard to find seasons after the 2nd one.
"I currently have a non-specific gameplan, that right now is just very very angry, but will be better thought out later, but until then, RIIIISE UP!" XD!
Was that meant to be a reply to me or a reply to jonnyboy383? 'cause I got the notification that this was a reply to comment. If so, then I think you misunderstood me. =)
@InterpolFL But there's a difference between social inequality in terms of money and in terms of race. Affluence set aside, there is still very much a mindset of prejudice against minority groups in this country that often puts those groups at a disadvantage. I think acknowledging these disadvantages is the best way to start changing them, rather than ignoring them.
@ambidextrality its in jest.. because if you are willing to say something aloud.. regardless it being a joke or not.. there is some kind of truth when an individual is willing to say something aloud.. and yeah sorry for the rant but obviously seeing you respond to a lot of people's comments here.. we both feel a certain way.. i haven't watched this video in a year so i don't remember what he said.. but i guess i liked it.. haha
@1Siriusmind Just so you know, they're not called Caucasion Anglo Saxon Protestants. They're called wasps. (White Anglo-Saxon Protestants; coined by the Ku Klux Klan)
"Dude needs to calm down and stop whining"? I bet people said the same thing to Rosa Parks: "Sit on your side of the bus and quit whining about your tired feet."
the problem with calling this a "1 minute of fame" is that beau sia is a pretty established and respected spoken word poet. after centuries of oppresssion, asian-americans have a right to be angry, just as much as any other minority. i think this is a little tongue in cheek, you just have to figure out where...
What's interesting, and Beau has mentioned this himself, is how a lot of people seem to have a real problem with an Asian guy being loud and angry. And some of those people are Asian, themselves. Maybe Beau Sia will tone his delivery down once people stop using his race as a reason for why he shouldn't be allowed to be loud and angry. Or maybe he won't, because he really is pissed and has every right to be. Who knows?
@myloveofthearts he's a poet bringing the issue of racism toward asians in this country to light. i dont see what ur problem with it is. if years ago martin luther king and malcolm x and all the people that marched for equal rights didnt talk about being black and their own personal expereience, where would this country be now?
@stickdudeking777 when its dark at night people do not flinch around you or feel suspicious around you. when you walk by a police officer you don't have to feel scared they will interrogate you. when you step into a restaurant the server doesnt' question if you know english or not. your'e totally right that you have no choice in being white but at the same time you should recognize that your privileges exist.
@stickdudeking777 I totally agree. It is hypocritical to impose stereotypes on you in the same way stereotypes have been placed on people of color. thing is, though, what you have to recognize that no matter what--despite your ideologies, despite your respect for folks of color, despite your support-you still have privileges and advantages that come from just being white. You may have come from a low-income background but structures of power place you in a higher position
@myloveofthearts actually, ur comment made it sound like u did have a problem with what he was saying. u were questioning why he or other asians were going around talking about being asian all the time. i agree, kids at school w/ their 'asian invasion' bs is annoying, but it doesnt apply to what is going on in this video. my attitude is, if you dont understand, try. if you can't, you still don't have to talk shit about something positive.
Don't we all want change? Don't we all just want to get along? I for one am laughing, shaking my head in disdain and wonder, and thinking maybe. just maybe I'll step outside and enjoy the air. Be free and happy to be me. Asian or not. Pacific Islander or not. African American or not. Cacausian American or not. American Indian or not. Be happy to be alive and where you are. Appreciate life a little more. Or all that have come before us have passed in vain.
@ambidextrality yeah but its only because people of color actually have a need to feel empowered. white people did not have years of discriminatory legislation or prejudice heaped on them. so, i'd say he's pretty justified
yoooo that was fire! 🔥 👏🏾👏🏾

i think this is a little tongue in cheek, you just have to figure out where...
i think that's the point. :)
"Our made sexy asses are getting play all over the ethnic spectrum!" Bwahaha! hilarious
Why not Rob Schneider? He's half Filipino..
you mean him? he was borned in Philippines but he has no Filipino blood and i think he doesnt consider himself as Filipino but Chinese.
