    I have this exact mixer.. my is called YiiYYaa CT-160S I think it’s pretty cool and you are right about the usb cable not being included, luckily I had one already.

    I have used this mixer for two years and have to honestly say I haven't had any issues. There is slight noise at certain levels but with adjustments can be fixed. Build quality is solid. 12 channels is more than I'm used to....so I connected every piece of hardware I have to it. It's a good board at best.

    RJ this board comes with effects in it.

      Yes it does have effects but it’s only a basic delay.

    I just got one of these, interested to see how this turns out. Thanks for posting this. I only wish you had provided a better example of what it really sounds like, as the audio being fed into your camera sounds absolutely horrible (???), and it was also way out of focus . . . maybe you might want to redo this, at least with improved audio.

    The mic channel gain is on max - no wonder the voice is clipped.

    I recently got the Weymic CK-120, and first impressions were "Wow! This feels really heavy and impressive." It didn't feel cheap and nasty, considering the low price. Unfortunately, closer inspection revealed its cheap, plastic sliders and controls, very few actual functions, and "Effects" which are actually just one effect - greater or lesser echo. Not reverb - echo. You can have echo with a long delay or a short delay, and that's it. Useless. Then I connected two reliable microphones to it, and both produced huge amounts of hissing, making mics. totally unusable. So, I basically have a £150 ornament, because there's nothing I can use this poorly made mixer for.

    I use this mixer with my four piece band and it’s always clipping no matter how low we turn everything down. We also run backing tracks through it.

    • @larryclark5483
      @larryclark5483 22 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The PA system that we use is also close to max. We also use in ear monitors

      I personally have a mackie 12 channel and it puts out more sound than this 16 channel board. Why is that?

    • @bax2004
      @bax2004  22 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      That is strange. I have observed that the level meters on this mixer are a bit more sensitive compared to other mixers (this one considers clipping to be 11 dB when others, like a Mackie mixer peak out at around 18-20 dB). This could cause the sound to always appear to be clipping. There could be other problems like how it might be sending a signal too hot for your PA system (the issue I had with recording the demo for this video), or some manufacturing defect.

    • @larryclark5483
      @larryclark5483 22 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@bax2004 they are very sensitive because whenever I put my kick drum mic through it it peaks. The slider on the bottom will be off completely with the gain not even turned up at all or just enough to barely hear the kick

    It’s a good mixer, I use it for playing live in a four piece band, but, dedicated outputs and volume slides for monitors would be very nice, also it’s badly missing LED indicators for the PFL circuits (preventing very bad mixing results when one f them is accidentally pushed in), since I am a multi instrumentalist, backup singer, band leader and sound engineer at the same time I have to keep an eye on the mixer,one on my pedal board and my third eye for checking the set list, give occasional dirty eyes to the other guys and an occasional glance at the crowd I need quick visual info on what’s going on…. Sell it a few bucks more and add these features please. Other than that it’s pretty amazing for the money.

    These look OK but how does anyone get by without any effects especially no reverb? What is the REP knob for btw?

  • @georgejohnson7591

    A useful review, well done, I'm looking for something which has more channels that doesn't cost an arm and a leg! A couple of observations. Your mic sounds really muffled, when you demonstrated the gain control at 15:16 the recording cleaned up when you reduced the gain, then went really muffled again when you turned it back up. Also why is it such a big deal where the knobs and sliders are out of the box? It's not really relevent as they are going to be moved around any way when you are dialing stuff in.
    Hopefully you have had some more playtime with it, how is it looking?

    • @bax2004
      @bax2004  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, the muffled sound and gain issues weren’t noticeable at the time of recording, but I was direct recording to my camera (which being designed for things at lower gain levels) clips/distorts easily. That was something i didn’t realize until editing. As for the thing with the out of box slider positions, i don’t see it as an issue either, don’t even know why i brought it up in the first place. I have spent some time with it, and it is still a solid mixer for the price.

    Can this be used to mix through Pro Tools?

    • @bax2004
      @bax2004  26 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It can’t mix through Pro Tools or any daw as it is just an analog mixer with a barebones audio interface/bluetooth receiver added to it. The controls aren’t linked to the audio interface, and as such do not output anything that would allow for that (such as MIDI CC). Midi control surfaces (like the Novation Launch Control or Akai MIDImix) might be more close to what you are looking for.

    Is the usb in/out? Or in only?
    (I've heard other reviewers that say opposite things.)
    Im looking for a budget mixer for sending my audio from the mixer to my phone.
    I can always use an interface, but I'm looking for a simple, 16 channel, mobile setup for live concert videos to stream on Facebook and TH-cam live.

    • @bax2004
      @bax2004  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It is USB in and out, but I would advise against using it for recording anything in stereo. It shows up as a stereo device (2 ins, 2 outs) but when you record, it combines the two channels as one and just duplicates the signal on the right channel. I plan on doing a video in the near future where I will talk about this further.

      As a longtime studio engineer, do not use cheap gear in recording. When it comes to mixing, will you start compressing and processing, the noise that is in the board will start to become evident in your mix and sound bad. Save up to get a decent board.
