That's exactly what I thought :D Car deserves an electric drivetrain. The original engine was rather weak. It was a car or the future, now it truly is. Much easier to reach 88 now.

Wonderful job with all the details. The acceleration is sweet, but I want one as a daily driver here on Denver. It's the perfect car for an EV swap. Job well done!
This is great! I'm converting a little VW pickup truck. I love what you did with the gauges...I'd love to do the same with mine. Where did you have them made? Thanks!
Performance is quite similar to a regular dual motor Model 3. Nice! It'd be nice if it had a NACS port rather than CCS, but I imagine there are good reasons for your choice.
Fantastic conversion. Most conversion have a 100+mile range but this one is 200+. Very clean and love the new trunk space. There is a market for these (depending on the price I guess)
I'm 💯 convinced that electrifying those great cars is the way to go unless you want to keep them as museum pieces. Let's be honest: Very few buy them for their wonderful original motor (& plutonium for nuke engines is still not sold in grocery stores)... 😬 Those cars deserve to be driven & to see the year 2100 in perfect condition. EV swap DeLorean seems like it finally got a drivetrain that matches the car. One of the LS-swap car will probably do a faster 1/4 mile, but be no where near as cool.
Yeah the frame rate issue was is a bummer. Recorded with a glitchy device but was the only footage we had of that stuff so we had to use it. Tried to fix it the best we could!
@@michaelmcelhattan7238 Wow. I know they already have done up as (I think) the Mr Fusion version from BTTF. They use it as a video conferencing 'room'. Not sure if it's in Mountain View or the San Francisco office.
DeLoreans are awesome _looking_ cars but notoriously unreliable and problematic, so this electric vehicle swap will be a huge improvement. It's too bad that lithium batteries were not really a viable option when this was originally being designed and built in the eighties.
Sure if you buy a stock car with all original parts you will run into problems. But the Delorean is a reliable daily driver if all the most common modern updates are done. The original engine was used in many cars of that era as well. It took me 15 yrs to get mine to that point after a long restoration process but car looks and drives better than new. It's all a matter of what an owner wants to put in it and how fast to do it. Similarly one could say a 1950s car was unreliable and not refined as a modern car, which is why people opt for resto mods.
@@randysanchez3960 Well sure! Any bad car can be better with modern updates, but as-is the DeLorean was notoriously unreliable. Just ask anyone who worked on Back to the Future! They were constantly fixing that thing during filming.
Wow. The work done on DeLoreans nowadays just blows my mind. Totally different world from when I joined the game in the mid-90s. Awesome content again, guys!!!
Woah ok, but I wonder how this will be street legal in countries that don't allow left hand drive. E.g. only right hand drive in India is street legal and it's eligible for the competition according to the rules. 🤔
Congrats on the unofficial 1/4 mile record! (I'll assume the other record wasn't official, just some drag strip record.) Who do I contact to express interest?
Given the fact that the speedometer reads 18 miles an hour when it’s standing still, I don’t know if I trust the 0 to 60 times, and also be just because it’s a DeLorean doesn’t mean you’re allowed to drive up the wrong way in the road
Full video of the fastest run is also on the channel as a short. Not sure where your seeing an 18 MPH start? Here in the US we drive in the right lane...
Price? I don't know about the GPS speedometer. Especially if you're driving in a city with tall buildings all around you (like New York City) or in tunnels.
Unless it's a built prv. They are actually good engines and can produce a bunch of power. Gik in Sweden had one making almost 700 hp in the early 90s and a prv engine still holds the record speed on Le mans doing 407 km/h in 1988 But I think Doc Brown would like a reliable electric one better 😅 I rarely drive mine though so will probably leave the engine alone. It's fast enough for the back roads in Sweden 😅
WoW congratulation guyz! 👏🏼 I like the fact that you put effort into keeping the Delorean look as close to the original as possible and above all, that you broke the 1/4 mile record!!! It is an amazing work done. 💪🏼💪🏼😎 Mike and Anthony! About the video we shot on Delorean Midwest last february, be patient it will happen! meanwhile Bob is buying up all the Deloreans can do and converting to the back to the future configuration these cars are being destroyed one car at a time and not driving it back wasting hours at charging stations when in a trailer when it can never do the time you did is prophetic on how unreliable EVs are especially here in california when I have my power shut off for weeks at a time
