Yes they fought when their country was invaded until they were overwhelmed some from both countries made their way to England to continue their fight against Hitters tyranny. They bleed and died never getting to see their country once again become free. God bless our greatest generation who sacrificed for freedom more than life. May we never forget what they did for us.

The Norwegians had the only ship sunk by the German navy on D-day. It was the Svenner. They then had a squadron in Normandy. The belgians brought in the Pieron division. They liberated Deauville Trouville and Honfleur.

Remnants of conquered European nations somehow made it to Britain and set up "governments in absentia." This mostly happened in 1939-40.
There small forces were put under British overall army -level command and made their way into France, along with US, GB, Can., Free French forces (who also had, under DeGaulle, a govt in exile in London over past four yrs). France, of course, unlike the rest, also invaded southern France along with US forces in Aug '42, using their colonial forces from Africa and Middle East. These forces were substantial.
