    This video may seem basic to some, but it was great for guys like me who haven't flown yet to understand the whole concept of how to operate a paramotor. Thanks!

    Great video on the basics. As a pilot, I sometimes forget that people need to hear about how the "simple" things work.

    Thank you, thank you, thank you !!! This is the first time I've seen a video that covered items like trim and speed bar. I knew the items existed, but didn't know exactly what they did.

      Jeff goon and his usppa would not approve of this video. He and his buddies have tried to keep this info from the mass unless you buy his book or are "rated" by his org. What a joke. This is an unregulated and free sport but some people would love to control it, much like a homeowners association president who is a vindictive Nazi. Thanks for the video.

    I liked that basic controls video. I had heard about speedbar but never knew what it did. That makes sense. And i guess the leg movement is the weight shift.
    I hope you explain more stuff.
    Thank you.....

    I have to comment on your statement at 1:38 and your follow on comment at 1:53. Our paraglider wings are designed to always seek it's own designed optimal glide angle of attack. Adding power doesn't really change that angle, but it does change your entire flying package's angle, because you're increasing the speed of the relative wind. That and the extra lift, due to the excess power over what is needed to maintain straight and level flight, is what makes you climb. Yes, your angle relative to the horizon changes with more power, but not necessarily due to a change in angle of attack, more a change in your pitch attitude. @ 1:53, your statements are correct.

    • @YankeeinSC1
      @YankeeinSC1 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      and... the speed bar doesn't change the angle of attack. It actually changes the camber of the mean aerodynamical chord by pulling down a ratio of the leading edge lines. As the airfoil's shape changes, it may in fact seek a different angle of attack as it works to find it's design equilibrium, but that is a function of the wing's lift and drag as you change it's shape from no speed bar, to speed bar extended.

      thrust changes the angle of flight not the angle of attack...

    Got thinking if you take some ABS -2" or 4" pipe cap on each end bottom glued put a brass tap on the bottom as a drain you can use it for your Premix oil then just take a measure bottle , Just clamp it on the frame somewhere then your not carrying oil containers in your clothes bag on your lap it`ll stay clean inside .

      pilots adjust their trim settings usually to increase their ground speed. So for example if faced with a bit of head wind and the pilot wants to cover some ground, he/she will let the trims out. Conversely if the pilot wants to slow the ground speed or is experiencing turbulence they may adjust the trims in for a slower ground speed and better wing stability

      All I can say is shop around for both equipment AND training. DO NOT JUST BUY the first thing someone has in inventory. If weight is important to you, look for lighter higher powered machines like the 185 plus or the Nitro 200. If saftey (at the expense of weight and climb capability) is more important, buy a flat top. The Fresh Breeze is well engineered and backed by German aviation certification standards. It has some great features like it's single pull jettison, but man that thing is heavy. So heavy in fact, that I had a hard time standing up after putting it on from the ground. I want to be able to run well and land without dumping onto the ground because of an overly heavy machine.

    the trims do not increase the angle of Attack....they only lift up the back end of the glider and this decreases drag and in turn increases speed. Your sink rate stays the same except that with trims out, you`re doing it faster. That`s my understanding anyways.

    • @AlpineWarren
      @AlpineWarren 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The trims work exactly the same as flaps on an airplane. Raising the trims decreases angle of attack and decreases drag - Lowering trims increases angle of attack and increases drag.

    letting out the trim would decrease angle of attack and speed right?

    • @x10mark24
      @x10mark24 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      decreasing angle of attack will reduce drag and thus speed you up, angle of attack is the angle between the cord line (middle when looking from a cross section) of the wing and the relative wind (airflow in relation to the wing) so an increase in angle of attack will cause in increase in both lift and drag so if you reduce your angle of attack you reduce drag and increase speed

    What do you do if the front edge of your wing collapses?

    • @fly-guyalberta3605
      @fly-guyalberta3605  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Generally a front frontal collapse will only occur due to strong turbulence. This is avoidable in most all situations by pilot decision making. However if one should encounter a collapse, the wings are designed to recover with little or no input from the pilot as long as you have some decent altitude.

    • @Gkitchens1
      @Gkitchens1 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      CHOPPERGIRL's AIRWAR beginner wings correct themselves with little to no action from the pilot. more advanced wings depend on pilot skill.
