    After seeing this video randomly pop up, i got inspired. Just downloaded 'Future soldier' & started playing it with some control tweaks on the DECK . Thanks man.

    Sorry for the camera angle gradually getting worse over the course of the video. I was focusing more on trying to play well than making sure the screen was in frame. Also doesn't really help that I tend to move around a bit since I use gyro aim.

    I just came to say that I installed the game using proton ge 8.25 (the most current version) and the game runs flawlesly, all I had to do was disable DX11 in the game menu, and also I had to place the ubisoft connect installer in the game folder, and that's it, the only problem is that it asks for login on the ubisoft account each time I launche the game, but after the login, the game runs without any problems at constant 60 fps( there are a few drops in heavily populated areas, but other than that constant 60 fps).

      @giygas_9577  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      You can also install Ubisoft Connect via Protontricks which is what I did. Also, if you launch the game offline and enter your login, there will be an option to launch in offline mode. It'll take you to what looks like the Ubisoft Connect launcher, but from there you can restart the game, and it should just start without going through Ubisoft Connect.

    What are your settings? I maxed everything out and was getting like 35 fps so i locked it to 30. Are you not maxing everything out? I maxed everything out on Splinter Cell Blacklist and runs at a very stable 60 and looks better.

    • @giygas_9577
      @giygas_9577  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If I recall correctly, I'm maxing out everything that's available with DX9. I'm not using any of the DX11 features. There's also one DX9 feature I have turned off because it's supposedly glitchy. It's Ambient Occlusion.

    • @pointlessfailure
      @pointlessfailure 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@giygas_9577 I'll try, but it runs with zero tweaking now, if you just sign into Ubisoft connect. I think DX11 is chosen by default, I'll see if I can chose 9. I might have to turn some things down to medium to get 60 fps.

      @@pointlessfailureNot sure if this has changed since I was tinkering with it, but it used to be recommended that you don't use DX11 as it would cause the game to crash. After installing a few DLL files with Protontricks, I eventually got it to not crash with DX11 except for one mission, Deep Fire, where it would still crash. I just turned DX11 off as a result since the extra graphical features it provides already kind of bog down the Steam Deck's performance.

      @@giygas_9577 I changed it to DX9 and everything works, thanks. The game doesn't really look or run as well as I hoped. There's game from that era that look much better. I don't know if I'll keep it, I have it on the Xbox 360 from back in the day.

      @@pointlessfailure Sorry to hear it. In what way does it not meet your expectations? Are you getting a similar level of performance to what I'm getting in the video? For me it's a solid 60 FPS, and I personally think the game looks great (although not as visually crisp as it does on say the Xbox Series X). It's kind of a power hungry game too. Tends to drain my battery fairly quickly.

      It used to sort of, but now all I usually have to do is download it and switch to Proton Experimental. Now I did also have to go into Desktop mode, find Proton Experimental in the Steam Library, right click it and select properties, and tell it to use Bleeding Edge. Not sure if that's still necessary or not. After that, you'll unfortunately have to go through the sin that is Ubisoft Connect. Once you log in the first time, try rebooting the game disconnected from the Internet. There should be an option to set it to offline mode. After that, it'll go into an the actual Ubisoft Connect app where you'll see the game. Just exit and restart the game (still disconnected from Internet) and it should bypass Ubisoft Connect entirely.

    How did you get this game to work

    • @giygas_9577
      @giygas_9577  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There's a few ways I know of that different people have used. Some involve using Lutris and installing the Ubisoft Connect version. I used this method from a user named Biosphere on protondb. Here's the text from that:
      "Tinker Steps:
      Custom Proton: GE, Changed configuration
      Download UbisoftConnect from the website ubisoftconnect.com and place it into your games installation directory ie.: ~/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Future Soldier Open a shell in that location and run the following: mv Launcher.exe Launcher.old mv "Future Soldier.exe" Future Soldier.old" mv UbsoftConnectInstaller.exe "Future Soldier.exe" Launch game and install ubisoft connect as per usual except DO NOT RUN AFTER INSTALLATION uncheck last box. Open a shell again and run following: mv "Future Soldier.exe" UbisoftConnectInstaller.exe mv "Future Soldier.old" "Future Soldier.exe" Now Run the Game and you should be good to go, at least thats how I was able to get the new Ubisoft Launcher to run and install un GE 7.31. Hope this helps some of you."
      There's lots of good info on the game's protondb page, but that method worked for me. You also have to disable DirectX11 in the game's settings, otherwise, the game will crash when loading a mission. If you do that though, you end up with another problem: the game no longer crashes, but everything is black. Now you need to use protontricks to install d3dcompiler into Ghost Recon Future Soldier. Install protontricks in desktop mode from the discover app thingy...I forget what it's called. Then open protontricks, select Future Soldier, and poke around in the menus for an option to install a DLL. Select that and find the d3dcompiler and install it. Hope this helps... it's a pain getting this game working, but it's 100% worth it.

      For the login thing, I always disconnect from the internet before starting the game. Then when you try to log in, it'll say it couldn't reach the servers or something. At that point, click the button on screen that says something like go offline or offline mode. Then it's probably going to go to what looks like your Ubisoft Connect page. At that point, try restarting the game. It should just start the game up. Word of advice... always put this game in offline mode, and go into the Steam page, go to either properties or manage (I forget which one) and set the game to only update when starting the game. Then ALWAYS disconnect from internet before starting it. The Ubisoft Connect Trash Demon always wants to connect. Don't give it what it wants.
