I’ve really got into importing games over the last couple of years, and it’s one of the best things I could have ever done as a gamer. I’ve found so many great games over the years, and I’d like to share with you all my PlayStation 1 games first.

Awesome video man! I bet the switch and PS4 are a dream since they’re already region free. I’ve started getting into importing as well. I hope all systems moving forward continue being region free
Lol love the format with the commercials too. Reminds me of dunno, I think Planet Terror and that Kurt Russel driving movie that Quinton Tarantino did they do the same thing in those which is really cool man. I reckon ya on to something hey. I only play/collect imports, mainly Japanese
Do you guys care about collecting these import games with spinecards? I’m noticing they’re more expensive when they’re included.
I do but I like the cheaper prices that come without them depending on the price point of a game

I remember how back then it was so difficult to import Japanese games in general.
These days you can just get them from eBay and other online sites.
I also remember back then having to get a modded PS or try various tricks like disc swapping to get the imports to work since importing a Japanese PS was expensive.
@@blitzkrieg1174 That is correct. The original PlayStation is region locked. So through normal means of use, you cannot use (for example) a US PlayStation to play Japanese or PAL region games.
A Japanese PS2 comes in handy for imports on the first 2 Playstations, very handy for me.
@@personavisceration371 Yea. That works since the PS2 has backwards compatibility with PS1 games.
Or you could get a Japanese version of a PS4 game that is a remaster or a PS1/PS2 series.
PS4 is region free (console and games).
Japanese import gaming opens up a whole other world to retro gamers. It’s absolutely worth getting into. Great video!

Great pal imports collection! (I bet that a lot of collectors from Europe don't even know that some of the games you mention exist :). If I may suggest, other cool pal releases which would fit in your collection include Galaxy fight (arcade port of SNK fighting game), Gekido (urban beat em up), Road rage (also known as Speed king in Japan - racing game ported from the arcades packed with Metal gear and Snatcher references) and Midnight run (another Konami arcade port).
Yes... this video is right in my wheelhouse. I love your knowledge on every game. I strive for that. Kid Shoryuken and Jimmy Hapa have become essential for me as well.
As I know you are the only American collector that speaks about import game!!! Thanks God!! Someone smart finally that is not too patriot to speak only about North America full set!!!
Oh, and Midway apparently had plans to bring Terracon to North America, as the game was rated T by the ESRB. And yet, either because SCEA said no to it, or for whatever reason, it never came out in North America.

Hey love Kidshorukan's channel! He gave me some gd help on finding a PC Engine console cause in Australia we never heard of them hey! Awesome vid Reggie! Hard to find alot of these games at a reasonable price these days. I treat myself to old expensive game like once every month maybe get something around $100 that I wouldn't usually get. Hell Nights cool too I love the cover alternative.
most of the titles are written in katakana, which is the alphabet they use for writing foreign words. you could read all these games' titles if you just learn the katakana, which you could do in a day or two. there are only 46 to memorize. you can get a flashcard app on your phone and learn it super fast.
So many great sounding games, you definitely sold me on Lattice lol.
Looks like that Konami fighter is called Lightning Legend and the make your own shooter is maybe Dezaemon Plus. The Media entertainment game is Kyuin.

Just picked up The Note in perfect condition (for 2€!!!) last week, but used it for a case upgrade for my copy of G-Police! ...anyways!... keep up the good work and greetings from germany!:-D

One cool thing is that some of those games such as Rapid Angel and Wolf Fang (and possibly some others) are available on the North American PSN for cheap as well for anyone who just wants to play them

The one thing i hate about pal games are the cases, it's almost impossible to find replacements.
Yes, best solution is probably finding some cheap bad pal games that have good cases and swapping them out.

Nice collection! I see you have Samurai Deeper Kyo for PSX. I never got to play that version but one of the first games that really got me into importing was Samurai Deeper Kyo on the GBA. If you don't have that game, I highly suggest it. Its a top down, arcade action hack and slash that has some decent super moves and a soundtrack that sounds just like the anime. Its pretty amazing that they pulled that off for the GBA. It also released in the US much later but the only way to get it was if you purchased the special DVD Box set that came with the game. I'm sure that version is probably more rare than the Japanese version but either way, its a fun game, at least in my opinion.
Little Ralph is a beast and available on PSN Japanese market for cheap. Play this game any way you can if you like scrolling action games :)

Considered myself quite lucky. Back at the time Playstation thrive in my country, japanese games quite common and in abundance here, not just limited stuff from US or Europe. Many my fave game are japanese shooter, sport , arcade port , beat em up, and even some RPG (Super Robot Wars,luckily one of my local magazine give complete guide regarding to the menu translation and important event )
I’d have a blast having a PlayStation sesh with you man, hopefully one day if I ever hit Seattle, or if you ever come down to LA. Holler man.

Kyuin is the shmup with vacuum cleaners, I've been wanting that one for years. Funny you mention Gamefan because they tore up Stahlfeder and Two Tenkaku for being generic. It is worth noting that you can play some of these on PS3/PSP/Vita via US download, like Crazy Climber, Wolf Fang, and Dezaemon Plus (the create your own shmup game). Awesome list and Little Ralph is getting up there in price, so look out if you're buying. I'd like to add a couple more for you to check out when you get a chance: Brave Prove (Zelda clone), Battle Balls (arcade style puzzle game), Goemon (platformer, Legend of the Mystical Ninja), Mad Panic Coaster (3D arcade roller coaster game, looks like Little Red Riding Hood's Zombie BBQ on DS) Night Raid (late release vertical shmup), and RayCrisis (final shmup in the Ray series by Taito). I was more of a Saturn guy to start, but the PS 1 & 2 got lots of great games in Japan!

One Japanese game from Konami in 1996 you should pick up is Ganbare goemon Uchuu Kaizoku akogingu. It’s from the Legend of the Mystical Ninja series. I had this back in the day and loved it. Not that expensive either.

I really like the collection man I started collecting imports myself as the PS4 is region free. I modded my PS1 to play imports. However my question is how do you get around to playing the PAL region games since its like 50hz vs the NTSC 60hz?
He has a test system I think or its modded.
@@bENOFFICIALMASSIVE Mine is modded aswell but the problem I have is that PAL (Europe 50hz at 576i) games run at a different framerate and resolution than NTSC (America and Japan 60hz at 480p). So Im quite stuck in a loop with my tv not showing the game...

yo what's up reggie, wow super Awesome vid dude, m from uk be amazing collect jp games, only ave pal versions like about around 35 games, don't ave all fighing and shooting games. only ave tekken and dead or alive fighing games those main ones, only rare game i ave evil zone, parasite 2 is easy to get.. guilty gear x ave for ps2. part from that good video man some titles that video like ave as know prices those games expensive, final question do need jp playstation 1 console. give me any tips, only ave playstation pal version.. none less Awesome video love intro cool. :)

I actually prefer collecting japanese games as opposed to pal or us games
