You totally forgot about Sugarloaf in Maine. Sugarloaf is as big as most western ski areas, just as tough for the best skiers, but with plenty of slopes for beginners, and the most expensive single-day ticket (for under-65 year olds) is $120, with mid week single day tickets as low as $73 ( I spend 5 days there for $159).

Clearly hasn't been to winter park. Great ski resort but you need to buy the IKON pass for it to be affordable.
And snowbowl offers skiing for free for anybody under 12

Monarch Mountain is pretty good, too
