    I did a report on the Lusitania in 8th-grade, nearly 60 years ago, and hadn't given it much thought since. But a minute into the video the date, May 7, 1915, popped into my mind ...

    Did you know ? RMS lusitania actually had a couple lifeboats that sunk to the bottom of the ocean

    • @dustingriffith7399
      @dustingriffith7399 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I can actually believe that! Remember in history, RMS LUSITANIA was listing on her starboard side after the two explosions caused serious damage in her forward hull and when the sea surface was reaching up towards the Boat Deck, only 6 lifeboats were successfully launched, some lifeboats got damaged from falling down into the sea and few lifeboats got capsized while they floated away from the mother ship LUSITANIA. It was very hard for the crew to launch away all 48 lifeboats from the sinking of LUSITANIA, but I seriously wish all of the 48 lifeboats were successfully launched without 18 minutes of sinking.

      I may not be correct but I think it has to do with a salvage team back in the 70’s I think.. they used pressurised explosions to salvage the wreck. Which probably caused it.

    Look but don't touch, that's my view, both here and with the Titnic etc. Every aspect of both ships is known, regarding construction/trim/fittings etc so I really don't see any need to raise/plunder anything from either wreck. Let it and those who died rest in peace.

      @@randompolishguy6476the most probable ocean liner raise would be Britannic considering how intact she is as well as how shallow she sank. Apart from her bow getting broken when she hit the bottom, and her funnels getting torn off, she’s in one piece. But she now serves a new purpose as an artificial reef, now harboring way more life than she ever did above the water.
      But I do agree in letting the ships be. They are war graves and serve new purposes now as reefs. It’d be probably cheaper to just rebuild them too.

      Nothing would be left to see inside the Lusitania….nothing. All the beauty in carved wood and decorative plaster and all interior finery would’ve been eaten up by plank tin with in the first decade of having been under water. Also, the steel and iron posts and beams are completely untrustworthy. It all appears that it is all fattening out to nothing in time. Dishes, cutlery, and bronze elements are all within reach. It was indeed an exquisite ship…yacht-like even…

If the german military did know that Lusitania was shipping military supplies I can see why they would want to take down the ship but i can’t help but think whoever made the final decision to fire the missiles was not the smartest tool in the shed, because they should’ve known how the public and military in America/Britain would take it
