Marigold Yellow? My goodness, when I was a lad it was called Baby S**t Yellow. But much classier when applied with some classical music. Thanks for showing that rebuild. I didn’t realise understand the elegant simplicity of a starter motor until then.
Use a dust free rag to apply the satin or varnish, it will produce a more even coat, apply it much quicker and easier than a brush and mainly will reduce the sheen so will match you original door better, you can then adjust the amount of sheen by the more you wipe with the rag will reduce more sheen. Love following you guys
well the starter will be easy to miss now! lol actually might be handy at night! 😜 im not a crustation lover but that lack of catch must have had you swearing! the little bliters escaped being dinner! damn! lol hope all the maintenance goes well and happy birthday nuttie! 🍾🍺🎉 take care both, cant wait for next vid! 😊
Hi Geoff. After a great deal of time waiting for parts and being able to move the boat into a safer spot to remove the gearbox, Magnus has managed to get it all fixed. It is planned that it will go back in this weekend, weather permitting. We are dying to head off out and sail again, even if only for a day or so! W.
Your "lobsters" of that small size we refer to as 'Danish lobster' or in New Orleans they are called 'crayfish'. However, in Australia they should be labeled: robbing the cradle. Magnus, how low can you sink! LOL
@@LifeinaNutshell Now, Magnus, I couldn't find any evidence on the internet to support your statement of :"no return" (and you know what that implies). I did find that 'red claw' lobsters grow to 1/4 to 1/2 lb. Are you sure it wasn't just desparation on your behalf? At any rate, I hope you enjoyed your sandwich.
From the Queensland Department of Fisheries web site “this species is considered non-indigenous so must not be returned to the water. This includes berried females.”
Well here in the states those are called crayfish or “mudbugs”! Very popular in our southern states because they are so plentiful. Not much meat, but dipped in hot drawn butter.....YUMMO! Nice job on that starter motor rebuild. Good as new sir. So, while at anchor you will be pulling the transmission And motor for rebuilding? I would have thought that being in a slip at a marina would have been much easier. No matter, I’m sure you have it all well planned out for a grand success. Cabinet color seemed a bit lighter than the example Wendy was using. These must have been the ones damaged in the fire, yes?
I REALLY enjoyed The Barber of Seville!!! It went GREAT with the starter rebuild! Thanks for posting that up. You made it look really easy. I might just try that myself, next time a starter goes belly up on me!
I know you just painted the bottom black, but for the next time. Here's a tip you may or may not have heard of. My buddy who has lived, sailed, flipped boats for 40yrs now put this on his hull and it lasted eight years. I'm doing it on my hull next year. Google it and you'll get all different sorts of responses. To those that said they did it, and it didn't work, they either didn't do it right or they didn't buy the pure stuff. It cannot have anything in it. No spices, no herbs, no other oils. You add 5 oz of 1 million scoville pepper extract hot sauce (amazon $24) to 1 gallon of Trinidad Pettit Red (red has more copper in it) $271 a gallon. 4 coats is good. No barnacles for eight years! clean slime off every six months.
There aren’t too many places that haven’t been affected, or still burning, or at risk. Extraordinary when one considers how big Oz is. The judge is still out on how many species of plants and animals no longer exist.
Queensland has about 5.8 times the size of the UK unaffected by fires. Ferral cats kill around a billion native animals a year and we don't see the government trying to stamp them out. That said we just burned the equivalent area of the whole of Switzerland and Denmark combined and the very big worry is the honey bees have nothing to eat, and without bees, the plants don't pollinate, and the animals have limited food sources. I forgot to mention we just had record rainfall on the east coast. We got 250mm overnight that's nearly 10 inches in less than 5 hours.
Here in the states we pull the "POOP SHOOT" out the same way. Crawdads, as called in middle America... Crayfish in the lower Mississippi river region... Crawfish in Carolinas... and Mudbugs in the Northern Michigan/Wisconsin area. Multiple species and they are all good eats! In the Ohio River Valley we "Rinse" them a few times (clean water for a few hours, rinse and repeat until the water stands nearly clear) because of the sand stone and yellow clay. We DO NOT chill them, once cleaned of sediment (Rinsed) they go "LIVILY" into a boiling pot. There are many methods, but I am partial to our tried and true. as a world traveler myself, I have tasted the many variations, but I always come home to my roots. And just to be wacky... my favorite fish, OF ALL TIME, is the North American Bluegill (Bream, Red Ear, Sunfish). I love Salmon, Tuna, Mahi, Shark, Skips and the list goes on, but that hand sized Bluegill, for all of the work is, for me is the hands down best fish I have ever tasted. Loved the starter rebuild. Years ago I had a "Growler" on my bench to test windings. Lots of memories. Ya might want to think about some rings for that "Beast of an "Evincrude" she is sounding a bit hoarse.

Happy Bithday, Nutshell 😀😀😀
She's a beautiful little ship. Forty years old and still going strong. Built to last. W.
😀👍
Those yabbies looked a bit like large shrimp! The red claws were interesting, they are blue in our neck of the woods.
5 star bush tucker - yummo
Great vid ya'll.
Thank you. W.

They are a pest here and you can’t return them to the water.

Happy Birthday Nutshell!
When you get the stain color right, cover everything with 3 or 4 coats of clear varnish.
Including the old wood work.

Matching music at the startermotormaintenance!
Hi Frans. I rather liked it. W.
I did like it to. I will try it on my ship next time! Plenty to do on my 120 year old Dutch barge .
Yum
Recon Captain Cook left that Hammer behind. donate it to the Maritime Museum.!.
Love it as usual... but can I ask.....do you guys never want to just be at home and do absolutely nothing for a few days?!
We both like to stay busy.
In America we call it the poo shoot too👍👍
surf n turf - and those steaks look amazing. How was the ale mate?
It was good.
My daughter has a 3 legged dog too, he certainly gets around Chesters his name...
Hi Sandra. Pepper is amazing. She's a gutsy dog so isn't phased by too much. W.
Classic music! Now that's one "classy" starter motor.
I felt like a change. I was brought up with classical music. My mother was an opera singer. W.
How about yellow?
Hi Pete. That's what I said. W.
Yummmo. On my way. Keep some steak please. Cheers.
We've got them warming on the bbq. See you soon. W.
Good to see everything in your parts of Australia isn’t on fire. All we see on the news is Aussie’s running around with their hair in flames.
