I appreciate the video you make. About a year ago, I had a GO-Go scooter with a bad axle. I found a replacement axle & motor on eBay and repaired the scooter. After watching another video you did on a bad transaxle, I decided to try to repair the broken one. The bad bearing was in the housing. I replaced both and sold the axle on eBay!
I'm CRUSHED! I thought changing the bearing race was going to be simple! YIKES! I guess it's basically the same process to replace the bearings on the Golden Tech Companion GC-340. As much as I'd like to give it a shot, I think I'll try to clean and re-grease in place. I can't believe our local repair guy for the VA said the bearings in my wheel were bad and replaced the three wheels, when there aren't any bearings in the wheels! Golden Tech claims the GC-340 I received in 2021 is no longer reparable. It doesn't make sense to me. But the 2024 models are pretty snazzy! (And a lot more work to repair, i suppose.) Monster Scooter sells wheels. The photo shows one wheel but says the wheel "set" is $131. Is a "set" all three wheels? I love watching your videos! Thanks for sharing them!
Yeah I don't bother trying to repair the race bearings and just change out the housing or the whole piece at the end of the shaft if they go bad. The only bearings in the wheels are on the front not the rear. I do know the old chrome style wheels covers made an awful noise at times and that sounded like a bad bearing sound. I surprised that Golden said that the GC340 is no longer supported (parts wise) I'll have to check to see if there are any parts still available the next time, we call them. As for MSP, the $131 price sounds like it's for one wheel. Thanks for watching.
Another great video Ian. If I had the right spare part I would have done the same as you, hope you and your good lady are well and be lucky, from sunny Corfu.
Love your videos! So interesting. I recently sent a 2019 pride lx cts to be repaired. I'm thinking it's the transaxle. It wasn't holding a charge with new batteries also. Transaxle is expensive to replace! I looked up prices. Do you think it's worth fixing
If the scooter is out of warranty, then yes, the parts are going to be expensive if its indeed the transaxle. Due to it being an LX I would take in consideration the age of the scooter. The thought of replacing the transaxle with the same type that might brake again depending on how the scooter is used I would look at a different model scooter.
Another good video, i noticed your batteries have a DANGER POISON sticker on them, I've never seen that on our batteries in Britain. Is drinking battery acid an American thing?
What a mess. That collar on the shaft prevents easy removal and replacement of the locked up bearing holder. There must be better design solution, like a removable collar with set screws or locking rings. It looks like you need a complete set of metric tools, including special ones to reach hard to access fasteners. Finding gaskets and other OEM parts must be a PITA as they become discontinued. I'd be grumpy too, lol.
On a Pride/go-go scooters a six-beep error code is the throttle not in center position when turning on the scooter. This normally occurs when you operate the throttle before turning the key on or a sudden drop in voltage and the system resets and you are still holding the throttle can bring on a six-beep code. Other scooter error codes could be something different

@@lasvegasscooterslifts Thank you.
Yeh...Golden Tech referred me to Monster Scooter Parts for wheels. SO glad I didn't buy them!
@@lasvegasscooterslifts I'm curious what the difference is between the VA models and the others. Refurbished returns? (Mine is blue painted over red.)

I'm pack rat when it comes to parts for myself 😁 I'll save every nut and bolt I can. Stay cool brother.

LOL I hope not. I think it's an ambulance chancing lawyer thing, manufactures have to cover all their bases.

Hi Gary, there's always a better design solution but build it cheap comes before practicality it seems.

Only on the used market otherwise it's a whole new replacement item.
