@@oldninjarider they only really did that to start out though, yes they've still got the $100,000 ones but they've actually got reasonably priced cars now too. Plus Tesla jump-started the market with electric vehicles as a new company not a pre existing already doing better than the rest one, they also weren't just re-branding the cars they made and charging a shit ton more for em like it's apparent Harley has done with this adaptation of zero's SR/F

@@codysikels4156 True, they're finally getting to $35K for the Model 3s although I haven't seen anybody with one at that delivery price. Why? All about the suck at that price. The average price last year on Model 3s was $59K and that took arm twisting because of their delivery/financial issues. I'd spend $30K on this and look cool rather than an ambiguously gendered neutral wearing pastels in a Model 3. YMMV

A ride from Melbourne to Sydney typically takes at least nine hours. As they are, a battery powered electric bike would turn that into an overnight trip.

I rode one about a month and a half ago and was surprised by how much I enjoyed it! It's a very fun bike to ride, handles great, and the trq is insane! While having no clutch or shifter is odd, I'm sure I could get use to it.. but for $30k.. it's a solid no. I think it's about $10-$12k too high for what you get. Also, the range, while ok, is too low and the charging times are way to long for me to even consider one for my 40'ish (eachway) mile commute. It's mostly hwy with no way to charge it till I got back home.
Good first try for Harley Davidson, it's a solid bike, but as usual priced themselves way above the market they're aiming for.

Serious question; I've looked at this along with the zero sr/f. The bikes are very similar with the only difference is battery life, charge time, and dealer network. Considering that the Harleys battery life is half the range and it takes longer to charge why does the Harley cost $10k more than the zero? I want to like It, but the price point is in goldwing territory and the only thing making competitive against zero is the massive dealer network.

What an awsome bike in looks and performance too. Good on Harley for the forward thinking. I'd love one of these bikes would have to wait for the price to drop like anything new always so expensive on release. Keep up the videos really enjoy.

Man. This bike looks like a TON of fun! Can't justify the price though, starting at £28,995 here in the UK (which works out at about US$37,000)

Much better and far less money. The looks are the only thing this has over a Zero.

Harley has the potential to make these everyone’s daily commuter if they just dropped the price under $20,000. They would sale so many of these and bring themselves back.

Was very excited to see a Harley entry. Obviously it's attractive and fast. What's not attractive is the price. Zero motorcycles will continue to own the electric bike market. I can get over twice the range for nearly half the price? Yeah I'll do that if I want an electric motorcycle.

They disabled sport mode?????? Dude, that sucks. Somebody must of crashed one since it was available to use at my demo ride. You think that its fast as it is, sport mode is insanity.

  • @ryoshi_versX

They need to to make a street glide version, put subwoofers in the saddlebags, and program a potato potato synchronized with electric rpm through a bad ass sound system 😎😂. Seriously though the live wire looks amazing and love to own one for commuting, and if they ever to come down in price without loosing the quality I’ll buy one.

  • @fritzk9118

Unfortunatly, a Zero SR/F has approx 10% more hp, just under twice the torque, more range, amazingly faster recharge time, and the kicker, all for 2/3 the price. HD has some catching up to do. At this point in time, I would not buy a livewire over the Zero SR/F. But I'm not a sportbike guy, but it will be interesting to see what some bobber guys can do with these.

I'd purchase a Livewire if the price tag was adjusted to around 15-18k. Just like many new lines of design, companies will pass on to the customer a high price to recoup R&D costs.
On a side note: Block can you test ride a KTM 390, there a cool bike (smile factor of ten I hear); almost a oversized Grom with a lot more performance. Great video
