Thank you so much for making this video. It helped me get the job done the right way with all necessary details included. Most of the other videos on here skip over the hard parts, but you are kind enough to walk us right through the whole job. Many thanks!
2005 bmw x3. Changed the oil seperator and tubes to fix vacuume leak now cranks 5 6 xs untill starts code says cam sensor does unplugging it f these up? I may of over looked it and left unplugged was fine before
Surprisingly easy DIY job, thanks! Of course, symptoms of a bad cam sensor are difficulty in starting, with poor running and idle. I at first suspected the fuel pump and replaced it. No help. Then I checked the codes and there it was, P0344 which is "camshaft position sensor A intermittent". A new OE cam position sensor was about $60. I did the job in my driveway in about an hour with no problems. The car runs perfectly now.
Super clear and concise, thank you! First major(ish) bit of work I've done on my E46 and everything went really smoothly. Note for others: I had to remove my oil filter cap to get better access to the camshaft bolt, which you might have to do unless you have a torque wrench with a flexible head like he does.
@@Jay-wl9tp Thanks much for the follow up. Well I got her running strong, however now it seems like a Throttle position sensor issue perhaps? Runs Great @ WOT, but seems to have a lot of Pedal travel to get her going?
My vanos is stripped and it's on extremely tight how do I get it off man... I can't even replace my intake cam shaft sensor that's under it.. helpp mmmeee I also don't have this size. I've tried.
I've changed it before but it doesn't work because the sensor is not exact same. And no one mentioned that the sensor's head is bigger than the old one. Did you guys find the same problem like me? Thanks
I'm having p1343, p1345, p1351, misfire with low fuel, I replaced the fuel pump, fuel injectors, ignition coils and sparks and even the MAF SENSOR, and replaced yesterday's the exhaust cam sensor. Still nun, it's 5spd manual 2001 e46 m54... so it just keeps stalling I dont even drive it. It's bad. It's on my youtube I need help with this.. anyone help.
Nice and easy. Thanks for not making a 30 minute video full of unnecessary chatter.

Great video! Tying a string to the end of the sensor wire where it plugs in under the air box will make threading the new wire into place easier.

Jack Jitphulphon make sure you ordered bank 1 or A and not B or 2 because that one has a bigger head
