So it took him decades to get to this place. My friend went bald when he was that young. Spending a lot of money on treatments, teachers (it was the 90's) and students laughing at him etc. It was a traumatic experience.

I went bald at 19. It all depends on what your personality is like. If you're a athletic or outdoorsy guy, then going with the shaved head look works fine. If your style is more suave and sophisticated then it's more challenging, but not impossible, to pull off. But Mr. Stewart and other celebrities did allow the shaved head look to look stylish and not just be associated with skinheads
Well, having the same problem as you, getting bald in my early twenties. I changed from two foot long hair to cero. Fortunately my skull seems to be in the right shape for shaving it. A friend of me tried it too, getting bald himself, but it just looked like he had cancer.
So it´s not just your style, but also your skull which can decide, if you should shave your head or not.

It is very emotionally scarring, being that kids will point it out and you feel like an outsider

+jadefields i read that onions are great for hair loss, if you put pure onion juice on your head at least twice a week it supposedly helps to re activate your hair follicles and so it helps with grey hair and baldness, reducing both. look it up on the net. also cinnamon is supposed to help too, and to take the smell of the onions use lemon, why not give it a try, after you look it up, may work.

Happened to me too around 25, in less than a year I was practically bald. Didn't go for any medicines or anything though just went 'fuck it' and started shaving my head.
While I'm not a Graham Norton fan, Patrick Stewart is an absolute LEGEND of our time. I'm so glad I got to see him on stage once :)

The thing about going bald is it bumps your age up about 10 years, but after it happens you stop aging until you're 80ish
A friend of mine's grandfather died about a year ago at just shy of 105 years old by a month. For all the years I knew him (over 40) he never looked any different right up until the last few months of his life. At 100 years old you'd swear he was 60. When my Dad died at the age of 68 he looked older and more worn out than this guy looked at 100. He was that old guy who never went to the barber, but just set his clippers at zero once a month or so and went for it for king and country.
I don't think I've ever seen a better example of 'Damning with faint praise' than 'Poster boy for bald people'.

***** I think I tried that, or another hair loss drug. Can't remember now it was like 6 or 7 years ago. I stopped using it because I noticed I was having trouble concentrating and searched on the net and found out that other people who used the drug had similar problems. .
lol nah I decided I'd rather be able to think straight. There are other alternatives like Bosley but it's expensive. I'm not bald, I've got a full head of hair but it's thinning out. It's not bad but I know it's gonna get worse

I've been using that comment for years. I started to loose my hair when I was 24, as did my twin brother, we're 59 now. "Grass doesn't grow on a busy street" is another line that I use a lot.

Having a high cranium helps a lot...and they don't come much higher that Patrick's...in some of the Star Trek it looked as though he had morphed into some alien supreme being. Very fitting for the part! Did the part make him that? I think so!! We need to all find our inner Captain of the vessel!

Patrick had hair in I, Claudius. It took some getting used to, and I thought it was his mown hair.
God, I hate it when interviewers do this. Imagine overcoming a really upsetting period in your life, full of mockery and jokes and the realisation that simply not having hair will disadvantage you in your chosen career (the main objection Paramount had to casting him as Picard was that he was bald and 'nobody is gonna watch a bald old English guy'), finally being at peace with it, and then suddenly in an interview you have someone acting as though you *should* still be terribly embarrassed about it to try and elicit a reaction. What a bizarre world show business is.
You do realise virtually every question and talking point on chat shows are discussed beforehand with guests? If Stewart wasn't comfortable with it, then the question wouldn't have even been asked.

I had the same thing happen...well not nearly as bad. I had such a full head of hair my barber would always comment on it. Then I turn 18 and go to college...and it's just starts falling out
