    You Just forget most important thing of all.... Put number 1 cylinder on TDC, otherwise "C" that blocks first primary gear on crankshaft could fall of place and block flywheel from getting out....

    I'm really liking your videos but wish you showed how to put it all back together again. I'd like to see a video of a clutch replacement if possible.

    I have a MED ultralite flywheel on my '64 998 engine with a new wedged crank from Mini Sport. I disassemble the unit after each race I compete in just to have a good look around or make changes. This time I can not get the flywheel to pop off. I have a puller like yours and had no luck so I bought a puller from KAD and again could not get the flywheel to budge. I used heat from a propane torch (3500deg) then a bluefire with map gas and oxygen (5500deg) with negative results. I have close to 200 lbs torque on the big center nut of the KAD puller. The assembly has cooled with and without pressure. I'm in need of guidance! Thanks John M

    Do not use a chisel between the starter hole and starter teeth.Engine at TDC power stroke ,hit the flywheel through the starter hole ideally with a dead beat hammer and the flywheel will pop off.No puller required for this job. Useful for other things so you can get one but not needed for this job.

    Hi good vid my starter is spinning out and it’s new could the be the fly wheel missing teeth or warn teeth ?

    Hi I need some help! I've finished the vid and managed to successfully get the flywheel off following your instructions. And I now need to take the housing off as I'm doing an engine rebuild. I need to know how to brake the seal of the gasket as I have taken all the bolts off. Thanks 👍

      @classicminidiy  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Awesome! Congrats on completing that job. Getting the flywheel off can be a b****! :-) Are you referring the to gasket that runs all the way around the housing? That normally is just caked and sealed on pretty tightly. The best way to break it free is to do the following.
      1. Make sure ALL the bolts are off around the housing (you dont want to bend any of the housing)
      2. Grab the hole where the starter was and the left side that sticks out a bit. Shimmy and pull at the same time. No gorilla pulling, but pull with some force and shake. Eventually the gasket will let go and it should come off pretty easily.

    Hey man, loving the videos bro! Is there any way you could demonstrate a clutch release bearing replacement, while the engine is in place? Cheers! Ricky

    • @classicminidiy
      @classicminidiy  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +8rikki8 I can add that to my list. That's quite the job to do if you don't actually need to replace the bearing. :-) Are you trying to do it on your own car now? I can give you some guidance if you need help with it.

      I'm planning on doing it shortly, the bearing is quite noisy when your foot is off the clutch, as soon as you apply pressure to the pedal the noise disappears. Can this noise be eliminated by adjusting the clutch in any way? Thanks mate, Ricky, NZ.

    Thanks for the video. I removed the clutch on my 71 mini today, the pressure plate got some marks. Is that bad?

    • @classicminidiy
      @classicminidiy  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Can you take a picture and email it to me?
      minis@ccmu.us
      Very light marks are "ok" although when its all out I would strongly recommend replacing the pressure plate otherwise your clutch disc will wear prematurely. It's totally worth it to replace while its out so you don't need to take apart again down the road.

      Not unless that one bolt used on the firewall side of the clutch housing is shorter than the rest then that wok wont come off as that bolt won’t have space to come out and it’s just going to hit the subframe.
