Duyen struggled to find acceptance and understanding from her family, friends and community about her son's disability. She felt isolated and alone, despite being referred to a support group she was unable to access support because of the language barrier. Duyen was also struggling to navigate the NDIS and was disappointed with the initial plan given to her son. Then she met Khanh, a Vietnamese-speaking Advocacy worker from Ethnic Community Services Cooperative, Khanh introduced her to a Vietnamese-speaking support group where she found other mothers like her who understood what she was going through. Khanh helped her to get a review of her son's NDIS plan and advocate for her family. Now Duyen feels supported, she is positive about her son's future and feels she can advocate for herself and her family,
