I did a similar thing. I was living in a taofang when i first arrived in taiwan. No kitchen no room for anything. So i went nuts and rented a 22000 place. and yea it was a pretty damn good 5 years living there, but i will never rent a gong yu again, its not worth the hassle. Having an elavator and not having to use the public trash service is just amazing.
Here is my two cents: Besides all the amenities make you so excited, think about the building itself. There are a lot more earthquakes in Kaohsiung than in Kinmen. So safety is an element to consider. Is the building newly built with more modern technology and stricter regulations? or it was built more than 20 years ago? Also, are you comfortable living at higher level when earthquakes happens? Lastly, check the fire stairs and the trash collection area of the building. It can tells you the quality of the building management and will affect the experience while staying there. Not trying to ruin the party but to remind you there are different things need to consider.
Too late for all that, I live here now 😊 and yeah it's a building that's only about 3 years old and I'm good with earthquakes. They're no fun but buildings that are probably likely to fall already have unless we get a major one.
It’s really hard to pick one ..both looks decent and clean and modern. I guess in this case I would pick the one with the better neighborhood (mrt, restaurants or shops)
My wife is from Kaohsiung and I think it’s a great city. Awhile back we were contemplating moving from Oklahoma to Kaohsiung for a few years to save some money. It didn’t happen but I remember having a difficult time researching how much apartments cost there. So this was helpful.
Omg great choice! I’ve been planning on staying in Taichung when I move, since I have a friend who already lives there so I won’t be completely alone in a new country 😅 but now you’ve definitely made me add Kaohsiung into the mix! I’ll have to consider my budget since I’ll be teaching at a bushiban. Do you think Kaohsiung is any cheaper to rent than Taichung?
Wooo nice! I think rent on both cities will be similar! But i chose Kaohsiung because it's closer to places like Kenting! Do you know when you plan to come to Taiwan?
I know this video is a year old, I’m going to Kaohsiung, Taiwan 🇹🇼 in June 2023. Question? Can one apply for a short term lease? If so requirements? Thnx Great content too. -Denise
The Mandarin subtitles in this video repeatedly showed that they charged you 18,000 USD for an apartment one month and at beginning I was really stunned by the price but after a while I knew it must be a mistake and the price must have been 18,000 NTD. Who did the translation? Compared to America or Europe, the prices they offered was very cheap!
Hahaha if I was getting tens or hundreds of thousands of views every video I'd be able to afford to pay someone to do translation and embed in the videos, but I just use Google auto translate. But yeah, the last two were both 18,000 a month! Expensive in Taiwan I think but definitely affordable by US/Europe standards!

It's crazy right?! I used to live in some really ehhh places for that price and it gets me so much better here! I'm excited when you cm come here and get a nice lil place for much cheaper!
Hi there! Are you still living in Kaohsiung city? I’m planning to move there, do you have recommendations area for living? How do i find apartments there? Thanks!
Moving is a tedious job. If you have no go U-haul in Kaoshiung, how are you going to move all your stuff? That needs a lot of hands, I guess. But it's good you find what you want eventually.
Hmm...I forget the exact district names but the first was located near Sanduo MRT and the second is near Sinyi Elementary MRT -- so they are quite central! I like the Sanduo area better though -- the area has tons of food!
Hey! im considering moving to Kaohsiung, but i have a kidney transplant! which requires hospital check ups every few months! so inwas wondering if you or anyone you know, know how hospitals are in Kaohsiung? much love
When it comes to price I'm not sure the prices would be that different, but of course it depends on what's covered by you insurance already. Good luck and maybe come visit before you make your decision ☺️

@@KaylaCosmos ARC
