Going back to the roots of this channel for todays upload, Adobe Illustrator tut time! I have more videos coming on marketing yourself as a designer, social media, corporate brand design tutorials, and of course more free stuff. Enjoy the weekend and catch you all back again on Monday :)
Sometimes, with all the tools & options, we forget about the less used ones. Thanks for reminding me of the type on a path centering, etc. I’ll probably be using it today! 🙂
Thanks so much Tom. Having been a designer for 7 years, I still revert to your videos and learn new stuff. Think your tutorials are responsible for a few increases, cheers mate!
Slowly getting through all of your videos. Once again you have saved the day of clicking stuff. Those Type on Path options thingy was AWSOME! Never knew that even existed. BRAVO and thank you!
Thanks. Great tips as always. I've used a few of them before but didn't know about some of them. I didn't realise there was a panel for the type on a path; I've always accessed those options through the menus, so that'll be a real timesaver!
This was a great video👍! Just to add, I know a pretty nifty hidden trick I don't think many people know. Just select any shape and draw while holding "tilde" (~) key on keyboard. It creates dope things!
@@adityanawal When I use the technique, it creates multiple of that shape in an ascending scaled perspective. Each of the shape can be selected and edited individually. Have you applied this in any of your project? I would like to know how you used it.
The way of you're teaching is awesome , really helpful . I just practiced all tools that you have mentioned. Thank you 😊 keep uploading awesome tutorials. Love from Pakistan ❤️
i already knew about line mode, text on a pth mode and navigator tool (but never needed to use navigator). but thats for the telling about the feather tool. its gonna help me a lot
@@SatoriGraphics Life forced me to take a different path. Used to run small printing shop but caught on fire and no coverage. Family, financial and such is another reason, but yeah haha I still make some drawing or...sketches mostly, if in the mood, but no more digital :)
Thanks for these quintessential and invaluable tips my honcho. God bless. I picked all the nifty tips shared and practised accordingly. You are the best always and forever. God bless copiously ❤️🎉.
Great stuff. Thank you. Can you tell me if I can RGB split in Illustrator? If so, would you be willing to do a video on it please? Your explanations are so simple and clear.
Great tips as always. Ive been using illustrator since 1.0 and didn’t know about some of these useful functions. I was surprised youre making your pdf logo manual in illustrator. I use it for things with a few pages but wouldn’t indesign be a better tool?
@@SatoriGraphics right. Workflow in an unfamiliar program will slow you down. I moved over to Affinity a few years ago and dont open up illustrator that often anymore. When i have to use it for a project I’m so much slower now. It used to be the opposite. I play around with Affinitys layout program too and that really slows me down.
Thanks for the Video!! I was wondering how i can get the long list of panels (including Properties etc.) that you have on the left side next to the Tool-Window ?
Love your videos! Always so helpful and clear. One thing I’m not sure I understand is line mode. I see what it does, showing the paths, but I’m not sure I understand how it is helpful or what you would do while in line mode?
I have always wondered: What is the advantage of the Spacing field inside the Type on a Path settings window? I have always used Tracking if I needed to adjust the spacing between characters, even for Type on a Path. It's available right there in the Character Panel, and you can select individual words to apply different Tracking for different words; if you ever need that. Does anyone know any use case for this Spacing option within Type on a Path, where it has a better result than Tracking?
I actually said that in the video, and it doesn't always work. It depends how large your art board is. In fact I made a video 4 years ago about it 👍 studio.th-cam.com/users/videou4TT1yBJZIs/edit
I didn't know about the Type on Path options and wish I knew sooner. However, the Pathfinder replacement you suggest is inferior to Shape Builder IMO. Shape Builder is more intuitive and you have control to create or delete shapes with just the press of the Option/Alt key.
Shape builder is not necessarily superior. When using the pathfinder operations, you can continue to use whatever tool you're using and avoid trips to the toolbox. When using the pathfinder you're no longer using whatever other tool you were using so now you're making trips back and forth to the toolbox to switch tools which takes time and interrupts your workflow. Also, I can string together pathfinder operations in an action and do some things instantly which makes the process even faster. The feature he shows can be a simple keyboard shortcut so it's much faster than switching to the Shape Builder tool in that instance.
that last one is that I needed 7 days ago. I literally shipped an entire logo package without that feature cause I gave up due to time trying to find it :/

I just tried it, it's pretty cool. But It would be a lot of work editing each of the individual shapes.
@@ifeanyi5394 Yeah but if we use mouse precisely, it can create amazing patterns that don't need any edit😅😅

This was pretty wild. Especially the Minus function of the pathfinder tool. Being able to adjust the cut out shape is crazy.

Yeah InDesign is best for multi page documents. I work 3x faster in Ai though. I likely will transfer it over to InDesign for exporting

To avoid problems using gaussian blur you have to change "Document raster effects settings". Chang to 100-200 px around object
