As someone who is majoring in hotel management, this is a fantastic video to learn from. None of the hairs or dirt are acceptable and it is apparent that housekeeping is not performing room cleaning the way they should be. I give you lots of credit for handling the situation the way you did and I sure hope that this goose chase resulted in a comped room. No excuse for making guests run around at midnight to almost half-a-dozen rooms. Seemed as though staff was pretty professional about handling it (other than the shift change issue).. Excellent video (as always)!
Glad you enjoyed! This was a shocking experience, especially in a mid-tier limited service hotel like this one. Management never made any attempt to reach out, and I didn't receive any sort of discount. Not even an apology.
Terrible customer service. Much of the reason some of these smaller chains cannot make it - after all it is a business of providing excellent hospitality.. (-:
Glad to see you wrote a review on TripAdvisor. I hope you linked this video in the review so potential guests can see your exact experience and avoid this hotel at all costs.
+WindowSeatFlyer It's amazing to me how the tone of reviews is still so positive. They still have a 4-star average. I've stayed in places with a 2-star average that were cleaner than this.

I would have checked out after the 2nd time. That is totally unacceptable. They probably only have two housekeepers in the whole place and they spend less than 15 min in each room. Gross!
Wow! I wouldn't expect that from a 4/5 review on TripAdvisor. Hopefully your video will give that property the kick in the rear it needs to get their property back in shape.
I was just in atlanta Feb 14 - Feb 16. Although this was probably at least $50-$100 more, the Mariott Marquis I stayed at was phenomenal. They were so great, let me stay on the 41 floor which was the highest for normal members, and overall an amazing experience. - edit - in case you were curious because I noticed we stayed the same dates, we paid $209.00 /night but normally its cheaper because we paid extra for a city view.
What a nightmare. I have gotten to where I only stay at Hilton properties (unless that isn't an option) and even then, I still check TripAdvisor carefully first. There has only been one Hampton Inn that was unacceptable and I got the night comped and HHonors moved me to a Doubletree. It costs a little more but it's worth it to not have to deal with dirty or run down hotels.
I just read your TripAdvisor review BTW. Good job! More recent reviews, starting around the middle of February are equally poor. Of course there are excellent reviews mixed in, but some people are thrilled just to have a bed to sleep in I guess. In reading some of these bad reviews, you can almost pick out the ones that involve the same rooms you were assigned.

I've been a long time Hotel professional working for Hilton and you get what you pay for this is a non-branded hotel I personally would've left after the second room can't expect much specially in this part of Atlanta
My first time in America was to Atlanta in May 2022 for a convention. I stayed at this hotel for a few nights. The room I stayed in was on the top floor (similar to room #4) and it was okay, not in the greatest/safest of locations but for what I needed, it was fine. The mini fridge leaked on me and I was woken up one night by gunshots. I had breakfast included but it wasn't anything I was expecting and it didn't look appetizing. The staff were all friendly, but I wouldn't be enough for me to return to this hotel

Nov 2022. Booked 2 rooms. Staff was excellent. (housekeeping notwithstanding because they will not come unless you specifically ask). Location is not as good as they make it out to be. Neighbourhood is a bit sketchy. Rooms are dirty and need updates. Shower is small. Toilet seat was loose. Phones in both rooms had the hand set disconnected and the phone disconnected from the wall plug. Was going to plug it in but the jack was so scuzzy I did not want to touch it. Had to go to the front desk to tell them because I could not call for to tell them there was no coffee or cups in the room. The front desk said that it happens because kids unplug them??? Well, then the staff should plug them back in. Also, the electrical outlet was way overloaded. The "convenience store" had a few bags of chips and a few bottles of soda. The door had gaps in it so large you could see outside and it made the room cold. Free breakfast was actually quite good and the staff there were fantastic. Bottom line, the hotel photos on their website are not what the hotel actually is. We booked from the Ascend Hotel Collection Group website and were very disappointed.
Ive had good lucknwith Holiday Inn express, they cost a bit more but Ive never had any issues (except maybe location in regads to walking to anything) but they have a decent simple complementry breakfast
Lancaster, PA, visit the Lancaster Family Inn. It has had 3 restaurants open then close in 2 years. It just recently was reopened after the health department shut it down twice. The websites reservation system is broken, you have to book from Expedia or something like that. Reviews state that the receptionist warns against staying, and only around 2/110 rooms are occupied nightly.
You're right... it is a GoPro. The model he used is the HERO4 Session, which is his standard "Trip Report" camera along with his Handycam. A neat idea for a hidden camera.
+Rodj I actually included his response at the end of the video. Hopefully the renovation inspires them to revisit their housekeeping and maintenance policies.
I went to a hotel in Bathurst Australia and it was much was than this. It was called the family hotel and was placed above a bar. The facilities were to be shared (toilet, shower, etc) The rooms were miniscule You can imagine the rest...
Oh wow. Old video....Makes me wonder though, is it a better strategy to deal with it and not request a 2nd room? There's never a guarantee that it will be better, and sometimes (like in this case) it could be worse
that is truly unacceptable. how can they not change the sheets that is just sad how hard is it not to change the sheets after every guess. cleanliness in the bathroom is not acceptable. Particularly I know better than that because I'm a custodian who works for the Board of Education for 9 years and I do like 4 bathrooms everyday and I keep it really extra clean. When it comes to do the bathrooms I'm into detail when it comes to that. I spend a lot of time doing the bathrooms. So to me that's why I love my job and I take pride of what I do because at my job the Number 1 rule is the kids so they don't get sick from germs and residue and mildew. I don't know what kind of housekeeping that they have but to me their not doing their job like they just don't care. They need a new housekeeping staff who can do their job right. someone who cleans the way it should it be clean, THE RIGHT WAY. Cutting Corners is UNACCEPTABLE. Their Should be no Excuses why it's not being cleaned. They Need to get into some kind of routine in order to make it a better place and to make it happen for their guess when they come to stay.
I've traveled for business weekly for nearly 10 years across the US and Canada. Never have I had an experience this bad. Thanks for documenting so thoroughly.
Wow! That's all I can say. I don't travel very much any longer but I've only had to change rooms one time and that was due to sewage backing up in the shower at a Motel 6. I stay in Motel 6 a lot when traveling because I've had pretty good luck with them and they are usually inexpensive.
Surprisingly, I was at the Hilton Downtown Atlanta in November (11/14/21-11/17/21), and let me tell you - while the room was nice, the pillows (like those at the Homewood Suites BWI) sucked as they were deflated. And housekeeping didn't respond to my request on the first night (as they only do Housekeeping on request due to COVID-19), but staff here were really friendly. Next time I will look into the Marriot here as I am also Marriot Bonvoy.
This may seem far fetched, but do you think maybe a foreclosure happened with the previous owner? Nobody dumps that kind of money into someplace and treats it like this. Possibly a new investor got it really cheap from the bank and is running it with zero experience. Either way though, it almost seems that the lower down people want to see the place succeed. Who knows. Your editing was great BTW.
I really can't figure out what happened here. Strangest part for me is the other TripAdvisor reviews. It seems like I'm the only person who doesn't love this place.
Wow i normally stay at the cheaper hotels also , reminds me of the dump of a Howard Johnson i stayed at once in Michigan or a small Motel near State college PA (somebody in the room above us was obsessed with their shower all night and we kept hearing it turn on non stop). Will be staying at my highest end hotel yet though this sept for PAX west, the Crowne Plaza, and believe it or not with the group rate it is 178/night and a Quality Inn is 189/night and after this i would question what that Quality inn would be like. I just hope i do not see bad thing at that Crowne Plaza, but based on reviews and what other PAX guests have said it should be fine.
Dude let me tell you why the door is warped. That is a perfect example of what a ghetto hotel should have. The metal fire door entrance to your room was warped because; it is a sign that Law Enforcement in the past has broken in that room leaving the door warped permanently from the effort. The room I was in in Hampton Plaza was the exact same way. Dude that place is just a few levels up from the homeless mission. That place is not quite nasty yet but it is fast pushing the meter to the red line on nasty.
What? They didn't give you a discount or a refund for your experience? As a former hotel manager, that would have been the first thing you should have been given after the first room!
Juan Carlos Rojas there's a reason for that. The vast majority of people who book that hotel are drugies, for drug deals, and hookers. And because the staff is no questions asked they rate it high.
Wow! And here I thought your stay at The Howard Johnson in Virginia was unbeatable. The only positive is the staff and GM of the hotel we are extremely friendly people. Better luck to you next time you head out to Atlanta.
Have you ever had it where a hotel assigns a room to you that has already been rented out by someone else? I have! NOT A GOOD THING!!!! YOU COULD GET SHOT, OR HURT!!!!
That front desk employee who went up with you sure seemed nice though. Staff just isnt doing a good job cleaning that place. I will say the way it designed part exterior and part interior corridor is unique though. I have always when staying in a hotel preferred to stay in an interior corridor over exterior though.
You could have kept the first room and tell the front desk that the room needs some attention and you would have been fine and it would have been a better stay for you. But really they could do a lot better at keeping up the rooms in the hotel. You are however lucky to get room 224 despite that it was a little dilapidated but it's better that 205
Had to stay there once....it was the closest to the hospital...where my Dad died...I switched rooms 3times and wound up in the district manager's room.lol
Hard to believe trip advisor ranks this hotel in the middle of the hotel rankings for Atlanta. And honestly I would not have been comfortable having a room on the 1st floor facing an urban street. lol.
+WI Sirens And Elevators I know. Seriously wondering if the other reviewers stayed in the same hotel I did. If it were just 1 room, I'd say that I just got a bad one. But I saw 4...
I really hate to make fun of your experience, but having served in Iraq, I have literately stayed in a cleaner room of a building that earlier in the day I had the Air Force drop a 2,000lb bomb on.
The place, hopefully by now, has hired better building maintenance and housekeepers/room attendants. In addition, after seeing the door on your second room and all the cracks on the ceilings and walls, I suppose there are structural problems.
I have to say, after the 2nd room wasn't clean, no less the 3rd and 4th, it would definitely have been acceptable to request a refund and book a stay somewhere else. Especially after the problems continued to pop up in the 4th room, I think you would have been completely justified in at least asking for some compensation after the stay, if not a full refund to book a room at another hotel.
No wonder that fourth room wasn’t as gross... nobody ever stayed in it since they couldn’t get in due to the key malfunctions! They prob ended up giving previous guests a new room and key before you got them to actually look into it and do something about it.
"I was sitting in the Inn At The Peachtree Atlanta, GA. I was listening to the air conditioner hum. It went "hmmm, hmmm, hmmm, hmmm, hmmm, hmmm, hmmmm!" Warren Zevon - sort of. 😄😄 Seriously a hotel air conditioner is good white noise.
Wow Jacob that is pretty bad.....I stayed at the Sheraton Pentagon City in Arlington VA and we had to mive rooms when the 1st one had a cleanliness issue
I would have kept the first room and asked housekeeping or the front desk the next morning to clean it all up. Not to mention you said that the bed is the most important part of the room and the bed in the first room was spotless and the 2nd 3rd and 4th room had disguising bed sheets had hair or stains. You could have kept the first room and asked them to clean it up tomorrow morning to solve all those issues and you would have been fine and it wouldn't have been such a bad experience. However you did uncover what this hotel is actually like and I'm sure a lot of people wouldn't have thought it would be that disgusting. Not to mention it's more upscale then typical budget hotel
Has this property always been owned by best western. The few best westerns that I have stayed at have been pretty good. But most Best Westerns outside of the US are kept to a higher standard from my experiences.
+Zoraver Singh Best Western actually doesn't own any properties. All are independently owned franchises that need to maintain certain standards. (Those standards are likely why this property no longer has the Best Western name.)
+The Elevator Channel I am familiar with tjat. Best Westerns outside are typi ally 3.5 to 4 star property's so they are kept at an even higher standard. Your experience was unacceptable and they should refund you tour money. I stayed at an embassy suites recently and they took $200 off of our bill for a leaky toilet and a non functioning heater
@@Ih8kone I have been to another hotel recently in India near Delhi Airport, the hotel was far worse than this one. The bed had plastic wrap which they haven’t took out, the bathrooms are very dirty and they get the breakfast from another restaurant. th-cam.com/video/m1KgPfIdj1Q/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared
Surprisingly, the Extended Stay America hotel in CO Springs is even worse, the lobby is tiny and gives off hospital vibes, the cleaning is flawed, the breakfast is a joke, I was disappointed and lied to seeing on the web there was a pool, but there isn't. The rooms need more light, and a bigger size, there is no odor fan in the bathrooms, and the *WORST* part about it all is... the stair rooms. The stair rooms are EXTREMELY dark, with a GIGANTIC echo, it smells of old wet wood mixed with carrots and ranch, and FIRST TIME I went in any of the stair rooms, and I WAS alone, I heard footsteps walking up, in a loud and speedy motion, as if there was some ghost. I cried in fear of it.
I stayed here when it was a Best Western and man I do remember it being much better. I don't remember any issues. but that was like 9 years ago... But some guy with a gun ran into the place with a gun supposedly. Atleast that is what my friends said..

Juan Carlos Rojas there's a reason for that. The vast majority of people who book that hotel are drugies, for drug deals, and hookers. And because the staff is no questions asked they rate it high.
I’m guessing that they bought fake reviews to boost the average. It’s a little secret of the industry.
Wow! And here I thought your stay at The Howard Johnson in Virginia was unbeatable. The only positive is the staff and GM of the hotel we are extremely friendly people. Better luck to you next time you head out to Atlanta.
Wow glad I booked The Glenn Hotel!
Have you ever had it where a hotel assigns a room to you that has already been rented out by someone else? I have! NOT A GOOD THING!!!! YOU COULD GET SHOT, OR HURT!!!!
Why did they have to get you on the first floor? LOL
thats why Lysol goes everywhere with me. Even 5 star accomodations are filthy and not cleaned properly.
You are however lucky to get room 224 despite that it was a little dilapidated but it's better that 205
Hate to see what you'd have to say about a Motel Six stay I had recently omg
Had to stay there once....it was the closest to the hospital...where my Dad died...I switched rooms 3times and wound up in the district manager's room.lol
+rozozzy I'm sorry for your loss. 😦😦
David Stott thanks..you are too kind
Sorry to hear that.. =(
Hard to believe trip advisor ranks this hotel in the middle of the hotel rankings for Atlanta.
Now a 3-star hotel on TripAdvisor.
Sounds like they need to train their housekeeping better and do a better job with maintenance.
That is so disgusting. I can't believe it's a 4 star hotel and has hair all over the place. Well I guess u learned to never stay there.
Four star on TripAdvisor is not a four star hotel.
Wow Jacob that is pretty bad.....I stayed at the Sheraton Pentagon City in Arlington VA and we had to mive rooms when the 1st one had a cleanliness issue
you should of stayed at that hotel across the street or when you had your first room the hotel that you saw in the window is what i meant
I’ve stayed at a 2 star hotel, it was 10x better than this!
Bang for your buck Hotel!!
I would have done the same thing.
I have to admit, when I read the "Nightmare on peachtree street," I laughed out loud for once in my life.
I really don't like the idea of sticking wallpapers in the bathroom.
This hotel is now officially a 3 star hotel.
GOOD MORNING Best THE Jacob Elvevator Channel CANADA Ontario TH-cam MISSISSAUGA TRANSIT 🇨🇦🇨🇦🌿🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀
This is why I stay at brand hotels.
16:06 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
That's not funny. It's disgusting.
Welcome to Hotel Hell, give Chef Ramsey a call.
The wall behind the toilet is probebly because of the wallpaper. You shouldn't put wallpaper in a bathroom.
I stayed here when it was a Best Western and man I do remember it being much better. I don't remember any issues. but that was like 9 years ago...
But some guy with a gun ran into the place with a gun supposedly. Atleast that is what my friends said..
This hotel should be changed back to best western plus and I'm sure best western can do 100 times better
Owned by Choice Hotels now
Now with COVID 19 lots of people are staying away from hotels. Best Westerns I would stay away from. The one in Orlando Fl was disgusting too.
