Thanks for another great video Richard, I have learnt so much from your videos. Here is a tip for other relative newbs like me. Before putting digital watch cases in the ultrasonic cleaner check that the decal on the glass is not a metallic transfer attached to the back of the glass. I have learnt the hard way that these are easily destroyed by the ultrasonic cleaner.
Thank you very much for doing such a thorough and excellent job on a simple Casio. I've watched restoration videos here where the watchmaker didn't even clean the crystal or the case. They just restored the movement and nothing else. For me, this is unacceptable unless the owner of the watch wants it that way.
I avoid cleaning spring bars in the ultrasound. If some water gets inside the tube, it is rather impossible to get it out. The water will rust the spring. You could lose the watch if the spring breaks.
Brilliant I'm obviously old cause the watch is in my eyes simple and beautiful...never seen a white one my Casio all through my childhood was a Casio F-18 only downside was the strap was part of the watch but boy was it robust i swam with it and almost never took it off.
Same process and care no matter what the piece. Just part and parcel of who and what you are 👍 Quality as always Richard...right, off to your website to give that a 'coat of looking at' too
Hi Robbie .... yes the joy is in doing the work carefully and not so much in the value of the watch being worked on I think. Thanks for the feedback. Richard
Got to admit.. I'm kinda new to these watchmaker videos but at the same time I find the soo fascinating to watch. I'm a car mechanic and I use tools as well. The size of the tools you use are so darn tiny in comparison. I'm glad to see you do a restoration on one of these old Casios. Had plenty of them through the years and I think they are awesome watches. Even had one that had a temperature display on it. Loved that watch! It's amazing how they could do cool things like that for so cheap. I wouldn't mind trying a restore myself sometime on a digital watch. Analog ones though...well I don't think my hands are steady enough these days to even attempt it.
Is it me or did the time on the pocket watch say 12:55?? And not 12:50?? Really great video Richard and totally unexpected. Great to see you rocking the medieval look with the long hair and moustache you’d make a great volunteer over the road at the castle!🚒👍
Hi J******* Haha! It was not you at all ... it was me! I was concentrating too hard on the process, the shooting focus, operating the pushers in finger cots, the audio level and stuffed up the actual time! Enjoying the medieval look, plus in works well when there are no hairdressers open! Hope all good with you and great to hear from you! Richard
Fun! Really enjoyed this. I wanted to see the action of connecting the battery with the frame with tweezers but you didn’t show it up close. But looked easy enough.
Hi Mountain Standard Time! I tried to capture it but it could have been better I guess. It is really simple to do with a pair of tweezers or a bent paper clip. Thanks for the feedback. Richard
Good show Richard! Nice to see you go where no other youtube watch channel has gone and actually service a quartz watch instead of just changing the battery or "moding" their Seikos with a new bezel. I have a quartz Inox that I carried in Kabul and it failed to work after it's second battery change. Seems like nice enough a watch to fix but nobody does anything but changes batteries. Good for you. Take care.
Hi Randy ... what's life without risk? Yes I do like to really lift up the hood and see whats going on. Some quartz are easier to service than others I guess but you are right mostly folks don't even bother. Good to hear from you and thanks for this. Richard
Hi ketan ... Haha! I know I will retrieve it soon! Imagine how many watches that weren't videoed still have one or two or three in the back. The camera misses little! Thanks for the observation. Richard
I bought a Seiko ana- digital in 1985 h557 5319 and in 2011 had battery changed , no problems, got caught in rain storm and watch died, moisture inside. That was in 2012. Left it on the shelf till 2022 and replaced battery, didn't reanimate. Took it to watch shop, no dice. Guy shook head about sending it to Seiko. It had sentimental value so I took it all apart for fun, and the hands fell off, and I threw it in the bin. I don't regret it but also wasn't in love with it. I had a Gshock mudman from about 2010 and I have 6 inch wrists and the housing developed a crack where the pin goes through. Basically, I couldn't repair it. Now I own two Gshocks, GA2110 and GW5610 U ( updated version) and I really like it. I work at a dying plant and I never had a problem. I owned a Hamilton quartz a while back 1990s and lost it. I was also thinking about adding a mechanical watch to my collection but I like quartz better and the solar radio Gshock is really cool 😎 I see citizen watch qaurtz going for 2000 and my mouth drops. If I played lottery( don't play) and won the jackpot I would but the HAQ. Lol 😆 there are so many nice watches You are inspirational ❤️ 🙌 . Good job 👏. I subscribed

Brilliant I'm obviously old cause the watch is in my eyes simple and beautiful...never seen a white one my Casio all through my childhood was a Casio F-18 only downside was the strap was part of the watch but boy was it robust i swam with it and almost never took it off.
A very good video i learnt loads from your video thanks have just subbed
Good man Stephen and thank you for taking a moment to say so. Welcome aboard! Richard
Nice, professional work and great attention to details. Thanks.
Same process and care no matter what the piece. Just part and parcel of who and what you are 👍
Quality as always Richard...right, off to your website to give that a 'coat of looking at' too
Hi Kent... Thank you so much! Richard.
Love the way you treat a casio and a Rolex with the same love, top job again👌
Richard
Keep going Richard! Regards from a big fan of you. Cheers from Brussels
Happy to be one of 60K subs! Love the 80s retro look!
Hi Richard! Good man ... great to have you on board sir! Richard
Richard
@@richardperrettwatchmaker Thanks! I subscribed. I have a small TH-cam channel too. Mostly reviews of watches my friends and I have.
Nicely done. First time viewer now subscriber.
Thank you so much! Welcome aboard!
Richard
Another great video Richard !
Hello Richard sir..... 😀😀 like Always ur work is much appreciable..... Ur work is very soothing to eyes & mind.... 👍👍
G8 job ❤️
One tiny hair trapped while case back sealing
I was also thinking about adding a mechanical watch to my collection but I like quartz better and the solar radio Gshock is really cool 😎
I see citizen watch qaurtz going for 2000 and my mouth drops.
If I played lottery( don't play) and won the jackpot I would but the HAQ. Lol 😆 there are so many nice watches
You are inspirational ❤️ 🙌 . Good job 👏. I subscribed
Enjoyed that, thanks, Richard!. Oddly enough, I bought a Casio F-91W this week for my modest collection lol Got to love the classics!
Hi Chris yes the $10 F-91W is a true classic ... I must d a video on that watch one day. Thanks for the feedback. Richard
@@richardperrettwatchmaker I'll look forward to that, for sure :)
You are setting the G-Shock to the vintage pocket watch? That's some serious trust in your work on the latter.
That's not a G-Shock, although both made by Casio.
@@SurgingApocalypse
Oh, you are right, it's a square but not a G-Shock. I don't see those very often to be honest.
pure artistry!
What a fun video. This is the reason I watch. You love, and work on, all watches. I guess I’m just a failed watch snob, I just luv me a cheap casio, as much as that vintage GMT Master or Patek.
Wow!! Beautiful Casio!!!💯🙌 Greetings from México!!
Lovely! Your talents seem to know no boundaries! Thanks for sharing your hard won knowledge! Cheers Mate! 🍻
Richard
Great video Richard
Thank you so much Tim! Richard
Muy entretenido video! Soy fan de los G Shock, Casio es una gran marca. Y adoré el paseo con el pichicho y la carrot cake!
Fab work very informative
Good stuff!
Nice work. At the 18.25 mark you picked up a hair on the greased seal and it's still there when you fit and secure the case back.
Cost of this service is probably more than double than the actual value..
Lovely restoration anyway (and I think is worth it)
Shouldn't the items in the soapy water of the ultrasonic cleaner be rinsed before they're dried?
Ha quedado blanco radiante y celestial, otro gran trabajo al nivel de la calidad de los relojes Casio👍
Sí, me sorprendió lo bien que salió. Muchas gracias por esta retroalimentación Rafael! Richard
I gave a "like" for both the fun video and the sweet puppy!
Another sweet video. I love the attention to detail. And you were wearing my super-yellow g-shock while eating your carrot cake! 🙂👍
Thanks Gary! Gotta love G-Shock ....you are a discerning fellow as the GA-2000 CCG is a great watch watch I think! On my wrist now! Richard
Did not know Mr. Perrett has an Casio G-Shock. Nicely done and I wasn't surprised from a master watch maker. Hoped you would do some play with polarizer film. Maybe you'll do someday a LCD screen mod with how to guide.
Excellent work, cheers again!
Thanks Richard great video.
You sir, have a new subscriber. I love these videos about bringing a watch back to life in grand style
Hi Lusitano Outdoor Channel you are very welcome aboard! There's quite a lot of these on the channel so I hope you have a look and my back catalogue and enjoy! Richard
More casio restorations and mods pls ^_^ awesome video
Thanks kubiaxk ... stay tuned! Richard
these are my favourite kinds of videos on youtube :) it's great to tune in to the restoration process, very homely and calm in my opinion! looking forward to getting myself a g-shock 5600 soon-ish
Do you notice a difference in weight on your wrist with all of that solder?
Just kidding! Thank you for another entertaining and informative video to start the weekend.
Fantastic resto. Yes f91w was my 2nd digital watch, really lasts the distance.
it's worth restoring old quartz casio's rather than chucking them and buying new!
