Starting my correctional officer career on Jan 6th. I'm going into Juvenile detention. I'm excited for the overtime pay. Never thought I would be in "law" enforcement. But 4 kids and a wife, u gotta do what you gotta do! All Praises to The Most High
Love the video, communication can save you stress and avoid unnecessary fights. Definitely would recommend people joining a martial art of some kind not just for the fitness aspect but for the mental confidence and keeping your composure in high stress situations. They will teach you techniques but consistency will save your life.
Thats Awesome, I always preach to my co workers join some sort of grappling martial art. And lift weights and you'll be unstoppable. We all want to go home safe to our families and be ready for fights/ emergencies.
When I started, my uncle who was in for 15 years told me that whether I'm fighting everyday or I'm making it easy on myself by showing a little respect and building rapport with the cons, I'm getting paid the same thing. I didn't have too many issues in 13 years.
This awesome cat is an absolute beacon to every young person out there. He displays and let's you know the basic skills you need to set your foundation for life. It doesn't have to be corrections, but anything you work towards.
This dude is mad solid and a good human being 💯. The scariest part of my patrols as a security guard were downtown when the fences were down, I had to patrol the streets at night in a ghetto construction zone. I used to use the walkie talkie to tell dispatch I was doing my outside rounds so that if I didn't walkie talkie back in 15 mins that meant something bad happened to me. Luckily nothing terrible happened. God bless this TH-cam channel ghetto bodybuilder be breaking off game for those interested in pursuing corrections. Much Love!!!
Fair, firm and consistent are the principles that will carry you throughout a corrections career. Also, inmates watch people all day. They can see through a "tough guy" act a mile away. Just be yourself and they'll respect you better in the long run.
I am loving all the videos man! I recently subscribed. CO Trainee here I start the academy next week! 🤠 I would love to see a video topic on the available Specialized Units such as K9 etc to bring awareness to the various opportunities available. 😊 Thank you for all the frequent videos and taking the time to bring awareness to all the possibilities within the Corrections career. 🤙🏼
Another great video, almost done my shadowing. The max security prison I work at has tons of overdoses, was wondering if you could make a video talking about responding to different medical emergencies or code blues (fights). Appreciate you
Thanks for the videos. I have been in bop for 6 months now leaving to glynco in 2 days. Some guys from butner will be there as well. I'm on California. Thanks for the videos and motivation best job I've ever had!
Aww mannn! take the class and training serious and outside of class in your free time you’re gonna have a GREAT time at Glynco man! Ask your classmates from Butner do they know Officer Smoot from FCC Butner? 😅. Tell them about my videos, we gotta spread the movement and grow this thing!! Good luck to you down there and safe travels 🫡👍🏽
Wow. This career seems extremely tough. Sounds like you really need to triple check yourself if you decide on this career. That said, I heard the need to do this good work is in high demand.
it aint so bad. most days i just sit there & chill with the inmates & go home worry free. im in a good head space mentally, i just enjoy my life outside of work
ABSOLUTELY! if you serious & play your cards right, you will be so far ahead of the game by the time you’re in your early 20’s bro. Go back & watch some of my other videos, i started when i was 21, i’ll be 35 in December. life is good & gettin better everyday
Thee is no command voice! In the academy the want you to be all loud !! But, look at it this way , would you take orders from someone yelling all loud, or someone just talking. Normally but understandable?
@ There is a such thing as a Command voice , it’s when u demanding attention from someone .. Sometimes u have to give orders out firm & loud to a Pit so everyone can hear u “Once “.. I would hate to repeat myself ,Which means your not being taking seriously.. You still can talk with a good Strong Tone without being disrespectful..
best advice i got 17 years in was from a inmate at the jail... he told me you go home because we let you go home... and thats the damn truth!!!

This part about respect is so important, not just because they’re inmates but because it’s how we should treat another human being.
