  • In addition to talking about these new weight loss drugs, Lisle also explains the scientific principles of satiety and our biological drives to seek pleasure (high fat, high sugar foods) and avoid pain (hunger).

    That is why a Cinnabon store piped the smell from their kitchen to the outside to tempt people. I remember seeing that at a San Diego outside shopping mall! Of course we went inside to buy some! Good to know the physiology of smell vs sight and taste. I never heard that before. My most difficult smell is charcoal steak from Outback Steakhouse! I am WFPB but that smell brings back irresistible memories LOL

    No, my daughter had severe depresion at 15, was suicidal & was prescribed 1/2 a dose of Prozac. This was a miracle for her. She had a chemical imbalance. Now, 3 years later, she's been consistently stable, happy & is thriving. Sometime/often (?) certain drugs can be lifesavers.

    I had been on an SSRI on and off over the years and I never experienced any negative side effects, however back in April of this year I ended back on it and I had the worst reaction ever, not only physically but mentally and I had only taken the medication for 4 days and then I stopped it due to side effects. Although the symptoms I had experienced are starting to reduce, they are still there and I am now having to go back to a psychologist to get back to what what my normal. Never again will I go back on any psychiatric medication and I am scared to go on any medication now.

      I changed my driving route to/from work due to the abundance of tempting food stores/restaurants. Just like I keep my home environment "clean". Environmental engineering can work to our advantage. Another thing I do is make myself "chocolate" frosties when I feel deprived. In a ninja or other high speed blender put in 2 soaked, pitted dates, a tablespoon of cocoa powder, 6 to 8 ounces frozen cauliflower florets, 1 cup vanilla soy milk, 1/2 cup no salt added rinsed, drained black beans (freeze them), 4 ice cubes and enough water to blend. I pour it into a 42ounce insulated cup and drink with a straw. If I want a milkshake I add more water. Tastes great. I don't taste the beans or cauliflower at all. I occasionally eat this instead of a meal. Feels like a cheat but is healthy.

    Dr. Lisle and Rip called people who can get this message unusual and have some unseeable difference from “normal people.” I wonder if the difference is personality type. The Myers’s Briggs personality type classification has a class for data or information driven people. I wonder If that comes into play.

    I know a lot of people on these drugs and my observation is that it works for weight loss, they loose all cravings but I see they loose so much muscle as well so the skin can hang…and they are psychologically afraid of food/calories…if they go off it, their appetite comes back with a vengeance….

  • @JD-xh6cy

    The first lawsuit on one of the drugs is already in. (I think Wegowy.) But that's nothing compared to the money they'll make off the poor suckers experimenting on themselves.

  • @primrose3524
    @primrose3524 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Think about this: The more you eat, the greater your exposure to anything toxic in your diet, even supposedly healthy food. The connection between obesity and disease is likely the buildup of toxins triggering the disease genes. By my logic, eat less, reduce your exposure and the end result is a lean body. I’m not advocating any particular dietary regimen, just count your calories. Obese people are simply eating too much. Now, I strongly agree these weight loss drugs only mask the problem, and those using it are offering themselves up as Guinea pigs. Just bite the bullet, calculate your calorie needs and don’t exceed that number. It’s not easy, no matter what regimen you follow. It’s pure science; you can’t take in more than you use or you will become fat.

    In the days we are now living in, I canNOT afford to eat healthy, I would LOVE to!, but being a single person/homeowner/full time job/FurMOM, I cannot afford to eat as "we ALL should", I rarely eat meats, I shop at local salvage food stores to find produce, I even work at a food distribution company and canNOT afford it! With the prices of everything continuing to rise, except my paycheck, I DEARLY WISH!!!... I mostly grab a pasta, throw something in for flavor and call it a day! I do have health insurance and as soon as available will begin Wegovy. 58 years YOUNG, I just can't get the weight down, I feel sure it is my diet... Prayers to ALL!!!

      I suggest spending money on dried beans, brown rice, whole wheat pasta and store brand frozen veggies. For fresh I buy potatoes, banana, cabbage, and any big loss leader. I shop on rotation so I know who has what I want the cheapest. Not easy but what can we do?

      You can do this. Buy in bulk (Costco for ex.) and buy frozen produce. Have a potato instead of pasta! The risk of the drugs and the fact that when you stop the drug, the weight comes back shows it doesn’t work. You can do this. Get creative.

    Dr. Lisle whole talk is beyond misleading. There are numerous studies showing blood pressure reduced either through diet or medication improves outcomes. There are no studies showing improving blood pressure by better nutrition is better than improving blood pressure through medication. The important thing is the blood pressure reduction.

    • @happyhealthylife4ever
      @happyhealthylife4ever 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes and No…there are studies that show that changing your diet can better lower your blood pressure than medication( lower more the risk of mortality)…and there are also studies showing that medication for hypertension can lower your risk for atherosclerosis and all cause mortality

      As someone who has suffered from high blood pressure, I’m so thankful that I can control it through diet and improving my nutrition with a WFPB starchivore McDougall diet and that I’m not tied to this expensive medications with their harmful side effects to my kidneys in particular for life. Anything that can treated through nutrition over medications is a blessing. I don’t need a study to tell me that, and yes, I do feel blessed to have that option. To know, I can control my destiny here.

    • @IHeartPotatoes614
      @IHeartPotatoes614 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      Also with meds you just artifically reduce your blood pressure, but if you still go out and eat a cheeseburger topped with bacon and side order of fries, you’re still harming your CV system even though with your blood pressure meds you were able to get your blood pressure down to 160 or 140. Now if you get your blood pressure down through diet alone through a plant-based-starch diet and eat the green leafy vegetables to improve your CV function throughout your body - that’s the difference. You haven’t arifically lowered your blood pressure. You’ve really lowered your blood pressure.
