Ok, to clear things up for the Indonesians here, Singapore's ethnicity is Malay, but since 1819 English has become the language that everyone, be it Chinese, Malay, European or Indian, can understand, that's why we use it more commonly than Malay. We are still taught our second languages because they want us to know our roots. You can see most of the signs here written in English, Chinese, Malay and Indian.
Remembered the anthem was originally in a higher octave (G) but was lowered to the current one in around 2001, though the original version is still sometimes played during National Day celebrations (for the country's anniversary)
