How to Delete Facebook Account on Android or iOS in 2024

To begin, open the Facebook app on your smartphone. Then tap the menu icon in the top right corner. Scroll down and tap Settings. Then select the Accounts Center. Under Account settings, select Personal Details. Then tap Account Ownership and Control. Tap Deactivation or Deletion. Then select the account you want to delete. Choose whether you want to temporarily deactivate your account or permanently delete your account, then tap Continue. If you like, you can indicate the reason why you want to delete your Facebook account, then tap Continue. Review the other options presented before deleting your account, including temporary deactivation, checking your activity log, downloading your information and photos from Facebook, transferring a copy of your information to another service like Google Docs or Dropbox, and reviewing any apps you’ve logged into using your Facebook account. If you still want to go ahead with deleting your account, tap Continue. To confirm deletion, type in your password. Then tap Continue. Finally, tap Delete Account to finish the process. Your account will then be scheduled for permanent deletion.
If you’ve chosen to permanently delete your account, you will have 30 days to change your mind and reactivate your account before it is deleted for good. To reactivate your account, simply log back into Facebook using the email address and password for the account you’ve deleted.

It scares me that Facebook makes it so difficult to figure out how to permanently delete accounts.

Thank you. I have periodically tried to delete my account for YEARS and they make it ridiculously complicated and keep changing how it's done so you can't find instructions for it. And that waiting a month after you say you want it deleted is ridiculous. They're holding you and your data hostage!

Thank you for this. I haven't used Facebook for quite sometime now. I just find social media so toxic. I deactivated my account awhile ago but I decided I wanted it to be permanent.
Also, it's funny that you're channel is called techboomers yet I'm 32. Facebook intentionally made this process convoluted to try to discourage people from deactivating or deleting their account.

Fb had this disappeared on an intention, they just dont want you to leave, That feeling when I finally was able to deactivate my account .,
Also, i only activate fb back again to check something, else it remains deactivated,. Life has changed so much after keeping it at bay., 🙂
There is no deletion option. This is the worst social media site in existance.

@@techlifeunity- what do you mean by: make sure you have "updated your acct", please? I have 5 old accounts from when i 1st started my acct. Have lost passwords. Do I update each password on each acct first? ....& then go baxk in to delete the ones you want.

If we delete the facebook account after 30 days Then wait another 90 days that Facebook still collects information. Then the data of the old account will be deleted. After that, can we use the email that we used to apply for a new one?

Doesn't seem possible to delete now. Go through all the steps until the screen turns blue but Nevers says account scheduled for deletion, then a new screen pops up that says " for your security please enter password" if you enter a password it takes you back to your page. If you don't enter a password, you can log out of the internet or do whatever. Shut off phone or restart, anything. But if you type in Facebook and send it'll take you back to your page. Doesn't matter if it's on mobile or desktop, you can't delete a Facebook page.

I have somehow gotten an extra facebook account that I want to delete. Is this the way to do it? It's not only on my IOS but my computer also.
If you delete the account it will be gone from all devices.
I don't think you have two accounts. I think it's the same Facebook account. You're able to access the same account from any platform, regardless if it's through your mobile phone or computer.
This does nothing to help people remove the app from your device though...but I suppose based on what it did try to explain, that this is for people who aren't exactly good at using the internet
