I accidentally relcassed Wolf to a general on my first playthrough and at that point was able to completely solo everything. He pretty much like 2 round killed the final boss and took less than 20 damage.
How do you give a spotlight worth a damn on such a unit? When it comes to this game you might as well not, there's barely anything to talk about. This game has no intention of giving you something to care about a unit for outside of stats, and his biggest contribution ia giving a Devil Axe. Big whoop.
On first playthrough I actually did sacrifice Jagen because I was 100% sure they wouldn’t actually make you sacrifice somebody, they’d just come back in a later chapter. Jagen never came in a later chapter
@@ebicbarton you can’t play the tutorial on higher difficulties lol. It’s only on normal mode. Even on normal mode I think he’s a hell of a lot better than Gordin though. Plus keeping him alive gives you an extra cavalier slot, and I like spamming paladins/dracoknights

notMangs but Roger and Gordin were surprisingly usable on H5. Wendell wasn't all that great lategame though he was still a helpful staff user. Jeorge is bad.
Mekkkah Ngl I think Gordin and Jeorge’s ratings should be swapped. Gordin provides chip damage earlygame when you desperately need it. Jeorge kinda doesn’t do much besides have okay bases. Actually now that I look at it Gordin and Jeorge have really similar growths so ultimately Gordin reaches Jeorge's stats by just training him up to level 10 and early promoting. Also Gordin was helpful in endgame. Gordin>Jeorge.
Jeorge has B right rank bow off the bat, while Gordin or Castor would probably require some care to get there. He has two good things: His bases are goods so you can at least use him as a good filler to snipe wyverns and using Parthia. His growths however are going no where and his 7 turns cost can hurt in LTC. And how is Gordin of all people better than him? Chip damage is fine and dandy but grinding him is hard, and, for me gives little pay off. Castor would definitely beat Jeorge because he has a pony, can take more hits, and get sword upon promotion (if you are not reclassing him).

I discovered a whole new world of knowledge with fire emblem youtube videos. My highschool classmates and me loved playing the saga but they all agreed for instance that Marcus and Jaeger sucked because they were already promoted and it was unconvenient for gettng 20/20 with thir favorite characters. I love seeing how people love this type of characters :d
Loving the Jaegan archetype makes you discover some complete monsters you would have missed out on if you just benched all of them like Seth and Titania (I know their technically a different archetype but the only way you'll use them is if you didn't hate Jaegans)
I also finished medeus with matthis the first time lol, even though he's pretty meh compared to abel, cain and frey he can be a good defensive unit thanks to his 90% and 30% def growth, he's like lowen and treck (without the luck...)

I originally played SD pretty young, when my English was still pretty weak. Until I watched this LP, I was under the impression that all 3 of Julian, Wolf and Roshea were female. Even thought that they were cute. Fucking hell.

Oh shit I almost forgot Hardin. That guy put in SO much work in my last run of Shadow Dragon. He was a boss killer/chipper and he absolutely wrecked weaker units.

I turned cord into a mercenary early on, along with a seraph robe he became one of my best units. Almost all his flaws went away, and was actually in the late game better than ogma
jagen actually has really bad stats for a prepromoted unit, however the B rank in lances combined with the silver lance makes him insanely strong, it increases his damage output and his hit rate a ton, weapon rank in shadow dragon is way more important than stats. also ceada has additional utility, you can farm pretty much infinite money in arenas with her, as long as you come prepared and buy alot of healing staffs, even on hard 5 shes the optimal unit for arenas since she will never get crit you can always press b in time when the matchup is bad and either way if the entry fee is below 1000 gold she should win 99% of the time, if its above 1k you can just say no and try again in the same turn until he gives you an easier one. on hard 5 you cannot send any other unit but her into arenas since if the enemy has even 1% crit, bad things will happen.
I know you guys hate on bow users because they can't counter like javelins or hand axes, but archers having that ranged chip is great if you can reliably and strategically defend. This is easier when you take your time, I've never warp skipped though so that's where I stand
My final team for Marth was: Caeda, Cain, Abel, Draug, Gordin, Ogma, Barst, Lena, Navarre, Linde, Merric, Minerva, Tiki, Elice (and Gotoh of course). I also had Julian, Castor, Darrios, Jake, Midia, Astram, and Xane on backfill.
The captions be like "I made a major mistake when rating a character but instead of owning up to it I'm gonna say that I would have rated him that low anyway."
I wish Horace had the other reclass set . He’d be godly as a Draco and he could be a good paladin as well . Such a shame . Also I wish he could use axes as a general , just because i think it’d be cool , look how badass he looks with one in his art .
So I did a hard 4 iron man and used Darros and he was my MVP. Of course it is player experience, I'm sure I got lucky with some dodges or growths. But I turned him into a fighter, and then lowered the weight of his steel axe (also adding some more might to it) as soon as I could. This lead to him being able to double things and kill them. Then turned him into a Berserker and he just one shot everything...
Neat that in the remake they keep Draug’s unusually high for his class Speed growth. And since Knights are promotable in the remake… I’ll bet he can actually get pretty busted real quick
Idk Wrys has his combat uses especially on Garneffs map where he clones himself, cause Wyrs get a big res build and basically acts as a tank. Is it worth it to get him there, maybe not, but I got him there and made that map so easy
If you use 2 healers on your team per mission, can easily level up 3 healers to lv 20 until you get to chapter 19. It can be Wrys, Lena and Linde (or another unit you want to reclass to healer). Since there are a good number of Master Seals in the game it's worth promoting Wrys and use him. Compared to Lena, Wrys will have more HP and a bit more Res, so he will be better than her in some situations. I also used him on those magic maps recently.
And how did Gordon become my third best unit? He got a minimum 4+ every level (and that was only two times) Cedea is the best obviously But how did Merric get a 4 star rating?!?!?! Merric is Jesus incarnated in Fire Emblem. If he dies, reset the game

Every unit will be good if you trained him. Marth is the worst lord in the series with shitty defense and res. Try training Gordin up and he is literally a wall.

In my opinion, Cain, Frey, Abel, Tiki and Nagi are the best units. Cain, Frey and Abel have great growth rates and join at the start, Tiki can easily surpass Nagi, Nagi is extremely powerful.
piculra I think all of those units are great but Cain. Not having javelins at base sucks and it takes him like 70% of the game to be able to use the ridersbane.
marylovesdavidcook Supports Abel. It's a pretty nice passive perk between the two of them. Cain is definitely one notch below Abel, but it's one of the few units that pays off to baby him in chapter 1.
Really glad I decided to watch this before my first playthrough.. seems like 90 percent of recruits are straight trash, especially considering I HATE the low base stat pre promotes. Hard to sort through to find decent growth types

@@fate8718 If we count the opportunity cost that definitely brings Ymir down. When I rate units I prefer to not include penalties for that kind of stuff. For example I'd rate FE7 Geitz on his abilities regardless of the recruitment conditions. It's up to each player if that unit is worth the cost. So I don't factor it in myself. That's just my philosophy though.

Like Marth having the Falchion and the Fire Emblem are things Ill rate positivly for him even if there really isnt an opertunity cost to them. Or to use another game, Ill rate Camilla in Conquest higher thanks to a early join time(hince why I think Camilla>Xander in terms of gameplay) and Ill penalize Shura since he isnt better than more move on Camilla, even if they themselves have nothing to do with it. Tho if we are arguing Ymir ignoring you have to kill every last one of your allies to get him and ignoring his rather late join time and the shitty paralouge he is in, Id say a solid 2 stars thanks to his usable bases and yk axes.
@@fate8718 I understand wanting to factor that in but for certain units I think its silly. Like should Farina be a 1 or 2 star bc of the gold cost? Or should we rate her on her stats, availability ect and then let every player determine if thats worth the gold ? That could vary for every player depending on how well they've managed their gold and if they sold things like the ocean seal. That's why I don't like to factor it in because it's more variable than the hard numbers of bases, growths and availability. Also I'm not sure if this is the impression you got but I wouldn't exclude things like Marths Falcion or fire emblem from his rating. Or Camillas great availability. I would have a different tiering philosophy for Shura though. I wouldn't weigh his worth as unit against boots for his rating. I would just rate him on his own and then the player can compare that to the value of boots themselves. The only real difference is at what point we factor in opportunity costs/recruitment costs.
the only thing i could use those useless unit like vyland and matthis is for the extra chapters sacrifices. still norde is hard to get but it is like gordin. and i do the prologue for the new cavalier and for the stats.
I'm around halfway done my first playthrough and thought I'd see what people generally think of the 50 units you get (way too many) Normally I like Swordmasters but Navarre just has not been feeling too useful, though he did help me at key moments like the wooden cavalry. My main units so far are Marth, Caeda, Merric, Lena (promoted), Linde, Cain, Able, Minerva, and the Whitewings. I really tried to use archers because they're good in some games but they are just utter garbage. Gordin died in like chapter 14 and I just did not care

My sacrifice was Frey, Gordin was my only archer, Jagen as strong and I though that Cain and Abel were brothers so I did not want to separate them

Hunters and Snipers are alright in this game but Archers really aren't
Mangs actually came to appreciate archers and their chip damage in the playthrough as the game went on

So I did a hard 4 iron man and used Darros and he was my MVP. Of course it is player experience, I'm sure I got lucky with some dodges or growths. But I turned him into a fighter, and then lowered the weight of his steel axe (also adding some more might to it) as soon as I could. This lead to him being able to double things and kill them. Then turned him into a Berserker and he just one shot everything...
Neat that in the remake they keep Draug’s unusually high for his class Speed growth. And since Knights are promotable in the remake… I’ll bet he can actually get pretty busted real quick

Idk Wrys has his combat uses especially on Garneffs map where he clones himself, cause Wyrs get a big res build and basically acts as a tank. Is it worth it to get him there, maybe not, but I got him there and made that map so easy
If you use 2 healers on your team per mission, can easily level up 3 healers to lv 20 until you get to chapter 19. It can be Wrys, Lena and Linde (or another unit you want to reclass to healer). Since there are a good number of Master Seals in the game it's worth promoting Wrys and use him. Compared to Lena, Wrys will have more HP and a bit more Res, so he will be better than her in some situations. I also used him on those magic maps recently.

Normal is ridiculously easy, you don't even need Jagen on normal.

In my opinion, Cain, Frey, Abel, Tiki and Nagi are the best units. Cain, Frey and Abel have great growth rates and join at the start, Tiki can easily surpass Nagi, Nagi is extremely powerful.
piculra I think all of those units are great but Cain. Not having javelins at base sucks and it takes him like 70% of the game to be able to use the ridersbane.

I would dish Cain for Jaigen. He is Jaigen so you knows his deal. Cain is bad because of the comment above mine.
Why use Cain when you can use Hardin?
marylovesdavidcook Supports Abel. It's a pretty nice passive perk between the two of them. Cain is definitely one notch below Abel, but it's one of the few units that pays off to baby him in chapter 1.

Really glad I decided to watch this before my first playthrough.. seems like 90 percent of recruits are straight trash, especially considering I HATE the low base stat pre promotes. Hard to sort through to find decent growth types

If we count the opportunity cost that definitely brings Ymir down. When I rate units I prefer to not include penalties for that kind of stuff. For example I'd rate FE7 Geitz on his abilities regardless of the recruitment conditions. It's up to each player if that unit is worth the cost. So I don't factor it in myself. That's just my philosophy though.
@@Starwars-Fanboy This is a train of logic that Im iffy on because it does ignore some in game bullshit, however doesnt factor everything the unit has to offer good or bad.
Like Marth having the Falchion and the Fire Emblem are things Ill rate positivly for him even if there really isnt an opertunity cost to them.
Or to use another game, Ill rate Camilla in Conquest higher thanks to a early join time(hince why I think Camilla>Xander in terms of gameplay) and Ill penalize Shura since he isnt better than more move on Camilla, even if they themselves have nothing to do with it.
Tho if we are arguing Ymir ignoring you have to kill every last one of your allies to get him and ignoring his rather late join time and the shitty paralouge he is in, Id say a solid 2 stars thanks to his usable bases and yk axes.

I understand wanting to factor that in but for certain units I think its silly. Like should Farina be a 1 or 2 star bc of the gold cost? Or should we rate her on her stats, availability ect and then let every player determine if thats worth the gold ? That could vary for every player depending on how well they've managed their gold and if they sold things like the ocean seal. That's why I don't like to factor it in because it's more variable than the hard numbers of bases, growths and availability.
Also I'm not sure if this is the impression you got but I wouldn't exclude things like Marths Falcion or fire emblem from his rating. Or Camillas great availability. I would have a different tiering philosophy for Shura though. I wouldn't weigh his worth as unit against boots for his rating. I would just rate him on his own and then the player can compare that to the value of boots themselves. The only real difference is at what point we factor in opportunity costs/recruitment costs.
the only thing i could use those useless unit like vyland and matthis is for the extra chapters sacrifices. still norde is hard to get but it is like gordin. and i do the prologue for the new cavalier and for the stats.

I'm around halfway done my first playthrough and thought I'd see what people generally think of the 50 units you get (way too many)
Normally I like Swordmasters but Navarre just has not been feeling too useful, though he did help me at key moments like the wooden cavalry. My main units so far are Marth, Caeda, Merric, Lena (promoted), Linde, Cain, Able, Minerva, and the Whitewings.
I really tried to use archers because they're good in some games but they are just utter garbage. Gordin died in like chapter 14 and I just did not care
I used him in the sequel and he carried my hard play through
