This is symbolic aswell as beautiful in its own right, as joik, the Sami traditional folk singing, was not allowed near a church up to a generation or two ago. For the Crown Princely couple to embrace it so warmly at their wedding, the future leaders of the country, shows acceptance and love for the native traditions of Norway - of whom Mari Boine and her beautiful song is a great example of. The note at the very end, is just pure magnificence..
This event was my first contact to the music of Mari Boine. Watching TV to the wedding and then this music... Breathtakingly beautiful! Since then I'm a big fan of Mari Boine and her wonderful music!
I have heard this song sung by many great singers. But I would say that this is the best performance. Although I don't understand the Sami words, her way of singing this song is just breathtaking. I also think this live performance is far better than the studio version (in the Salmer Pa Veien Hjem album)! Tusen Takk!!!

Wonderful song.Artist Mari also wearing lappish national costyme and she sing lappish language. We have 3 languages in Norway : Lappish, new norwegian and book Norwegian.I do not sp lappish
Wearing a Sámi gákti* She sings in Northern Sámi* We have Sámi, Norwegian (Bokmål) and Norwegian (Nynorsk) as official languages. Using ''lappish'' to describe Sámis and Sámi culture is incredibly offensive. Perhaps avoid using that as it is a derogatory and racist term. Thanks :)
@prickas As far as I know, you`re right that this is a christmascarol performed in the Royal Wedding Ceremony in august but mockery every norwegians is unneccessary. It looks like you have general problems with norwegians. Recently I swedish net papers after yesterdays champion female boxing match Mikaela Lauren vs Cecilia Brækhus. Based on the comments most swedes are polite to norwegians. You represent yourself. You don`t represent every swede or sweden.

Amazing scene. Looks like it's out of a fairytale.
Jesus loves every nation. As long as you are beautiful. Thumbs up for Norway!
Is not everyone beautiful?
Norwegian's don't believe in bs like that, we're more inclined to the Sami "religion", nature.
Enhorabuena por el video es precioso
❤
Bravo ... Śliczne Piękne zaspiewane
Merci.
