Looks great I have painted several cars with urethane it's not that difficult. I recommend using the single stage Acrylic Urethane system for cars $120 a gallon. This way don't have to worry about problem that can't be fixed without clear coating entire panel. Also sand it to remove lot of defects like getting a run easy to let it dry and sand it out hit that spot again. I buy most of my paints from TCP Global they are a restro supplier for lot of DIY. 2 stage paints require booths if you try it outside it will fish eye like crazy from dust and because the base has to setup then spray the clear over your pressed for time. It's really made for people who spray lot of cars and know how to use a gun so it comes out perfect.
@RoamingWithRosie You guys are probably on the road, we just got back from the beaches, now we are ready for some high elevation. Way to hot in Vegas... we are looking at 110 plus.😳😳😳

We did the same Dax at process to the front clip of a work Carl, turned out beautiful. Only thing we noticed was it would chip like old laquer paint of the days back. . We had about 60 bucks in rustoleum, everything else we had. The coach looks fabulous, I’m glad you did it. It’ll all be good! 👍👍👍👍😀😀

Finally finished and I’m proud of the way it turned out but I never anticipated how much time and effort would be required. I respect your commitment and could not have done it without your help. 14:44 Thank you so much.

What an incredible project! Jamie, you are quite talented! Amazing your arms, haven’t fallen off with all the buffing and sanding and rolling! Really great video, especially about explaining the cost differential. Inside and out, your RV looks almost new, thanks to all the hard work you’ve invested in it! Well done!
❤❤❤❤ so fun to watch. I have an old RV to. I started looking at ways to paint and yours was the first one i found. You have given me lots of courage and help. Thanks for paving the way. Happy camping.😅
From what we can see in the video, you did a great job. Agree some color body stripes done well would really add to the coaches' overall appearance! I've been seeing more people using that paint for a wide range of projects. Congratulations! All your hard work payed off! 😊
Recently my wife and I purchased a 2006 class C .Top half is a little dull decals are ok so I plan on buffing to see where we are at,before I take any large painting project on. Yours looks beautiful hats of for a super job.
Hopefully you can buff it out and it will look good. I would have gone that route if I could have. Still very happy with the paint job. Thanks for watching!
Thank you, I know it’s not the preferred method of painting a RV. I was determined to do the best job I could with the equipment and knowledge that I had.
Beautiful job! I bought a 2008 Thor Chateau Sport 29R 3 years ago. Renovated the inside and have removed all of the decals on the outside that were worn and cracked really showing her age. Have thought about painting the rig but had no idea where to start. Thanks for your videos, will watch a few times and get to work when the weather allows (here in Georgia).
It looks fantastic! I need to do just an area above my front windshield where the clearcoat has started to peel, thanks to the Arizona sun. I'll sand it first to get rid of clearcoat edges that are peeling. I'll probably use the factory paint & clearcoat kit, since it's not that big of an area. Thanks for sharing 👍

Thank you for your well explained process and showing your successful job. PPG Omni automotive paint with all the Omni components is so easy to do and only sand once before painting. If its hot get the extra slow reducer to let it flow out. Thanks for the feedback - what kind of sprayer did you use and secondly will the Omni stick to the Rustoleum once sanded? I take it that the Omni is not a single stage paint and would need to hit with clear coat.
Rustoleum has black in the gallon containers and in the turbo spray cans. The only thing with black is that it will show any imperfections more. Thanks for watching!
Ok...THAT was impressive to watch. Huge thanks to you both for sharing all these insights. Quite a gift to the nomad community. This has left me a bit sober about the magnitude of the task you undertook. So I am curious....did you consider using a wrap instead of painting?

Rosie looks fabulous! You did a great job. I was horrified in the beginning when you said you were going to roll her. But, then the old Jaguars were painted by hand with a brush then sanded so why not roll it. I definitely wouldn't want to paint Rosie with a brush.
Thanks. As I said in the video, I researched for over 2 years. I was impressed with the process. The tipping part didn't satisfy me, so I didn't end up doing that. But the prep & finish for rolling is a ton of steps. We are really happy with how it turned out.
I have been so impressed with your work, and will likely take on this project with our 2006 Alfa. I downloaded your spreadsheet and I believe there is an error for the RUSTOLEUM PROFESSIONAL ENAMEL as it brings up a gray spray paint.
Thank you. We used gloss black regular spray ( not wide spray) for handles & such & gloss white on gelcoat & engine door. I'll check that and correct that. Best of luck! Jamie didn't include the pox repairs, we didn't have many, but let us know if you need details on that.
Looks amazing! We have an older rig, and I'm thinking of taking it on. It has some delamination in one spot, so a repair is needed. Thanks again, and stay safe 😊
I just printed your supply list and am not sure what you used the Rustoleum Gloss Black, Satin Black Pro Enamel, Gloss Black Spray Paint and Clear Gloss Spray Paint on. I watched your videos and I didn't notice you mention any of these during the process. Thank you so much for the videos, they are very helpful.
I used the gloss black spray paint on the mirrors and the grab bars. The Satin Black was for the storage latches. I used clear on top of the black on the latches and other scare light bezels. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!
In the 3rd episode, at one minute in, I talked about the rolling and tipping they do on yachts, but then I said I tried that and I wasn't happy with it so came up with my own. I should have clarified "my own" meant no tipping. Sorry if that wasn't clear. So, only used a brush to get around smaller areas and edges. Thank you for hanging in there with us!
My wife n I bought a 03 Holiday Rambler 40ft. We remodeled her n put 35k in fixing her. N FRESH RAP . SHE LOOKS BRAND NEW 😍 getting ready for NOVEMBER TRAVELS, SINCE WE R CANADIAN 😎✌️
Our first rig was a Holiday Rambler Ambassador 36ft. We completely remodelled the interior. They make a nice motorhome. Safe Travels, thanks for watching!
A couple of reasons. I don’t have a spray booth and the overspray. There would be a lot more masking if I were to spray the entire RV. Also the spray is more expensive. The rolling was easier to control the coverage.
Love the job you did ! How Does the finish look like up close? We have a 97 triple e commander and are making a plan to paint her . I like the steps you took to paint Rosie and will probably follow your process if I can get the same paint . 👍👍on the video.
@RoamingWithRosie I have time, he has muscles!! What we also have while gate guarding in New Mexico this time of years is wind. And SAND!! And no wind breaks. Soooo we may have to wait until September lol. But I think we can get a lot of prep work done.
It’s where the wet bay is (black and gray tank valves). It’s great for us older guys to grab onto when we have to get up after kneeling down to empty our tanks. Thanks for Watching!
Hi, aside from limited selection of color and cost, would you have considered using the turbo spray cans throughout the coach as oppose to rolling it? Also, did 5 coats of rolling really help with the depth of the paint? Would 3 coats do very similar as well? Lastly, when you used the turbo sprays, that was only 2 coats or was it 5? Thanks!
Turbo spraying the upper half would have required a lot more masking and I would have to worry about overspray. The 5 coats made easy to sand out the imperfections without sanding through the paint. I sprayed 5 coats of the Turbo spray as well. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!
Great job! Question: you mentioned that you were going to wet sand at some point in one of your videos. But then never mentioned it again. Did you wet sand?
I actually found some special sanding disks that allowed me to dry sand it with a orbital sander. That saved a lot of time and elbow grease. Thanks for watching!
Do you know if repainting will seal to protect from future pox? Did you have any areas of Alfa pox? Also in a previous video you stated 48 hours between coats. That dry time must be for the spray only?
@@RoamingWithRosie it looks like a lot of work but I might attempt it for my old RV. I had a school bus conversion and I use the tractor paint for it. I did not get his elaborate but you know what metal and I didn't need to. It still looks great in the end I was just concerned about the fiberglass. The recap video was good. One last inquiry, before I dig through all your videos. Did you have to use a special bonding primer?
After working in body shops for 30 years am super impressed

Also, did 5 coats of rolling really help with the depth of the paint? Would 3 coats do very similar as well? Lastly, when you used the turbo sprays, that was only 2 coats or was it 5? Thanks!
Turbo spraying the upper half would have required a lot more masking and I would have to worry about overspray.
The 5 coats made easy to sand out the imperfections without sanding through the paint.
I sprayed 5 coats of the Turbo spray as well.
Hope this helps.

Nice project, how's the paint hanging in there so far? With no clear coat, the UV rays will be in full attack mode.
It’s in great shape. Still nice and glossy.

Great job! Question: you mentioned that you were going to wet sand at some point in one of your videos. But then never mentioned it again. Did you wet sand?
I actually found some special sanding disks that allowed me to dry sand it with a orbital sander. That saved a lot of time and elbow grease.

I have an Alfa See Ya 40', did you have pitting in the paint and if so, how did you repair it?
I did have a couple of small areas with the pitting. I filled them with Bondo Glass filler and Bondo Spot Putty. Hope this helps.
Thanks for watching!
That turned out really good. Any defects
Not really, I took the time to make it like as good as possible.

U did a great job on that rig I'm thinking about buying a alfa rv ? Are u happy with yours? Thku
Thank you , yes we are very happy with our Alfa.

Did you wet sand the bottom spray painted Half? Thanks
Yes, I sanded and buffed.
Thanks for watching!
Great job Did you find the paint to lay down better with less orange peel with the turbo can or the roller ?
There was more orange peel using the roller. That’s why I put on 5 coats. Giving me more material to sand out imperfections.
Thanks for watching!
Do you know if repainting will seal to protect from future pox? Did you have any areas of Alfa pox?
Also in a previous video you stated 48 hours between coats. That dry time must be for the spray only?
Yes, the 48 hours is for the spray only. That’s listed on the label on the can.
Hello Sir… first off, outstanding job. Just to clarify, when you say “wet”sand, confirm it was sanded dry correct?
Yes, I initially wet sanded when I started. Then I found the dry sanding disks and they sped the job enormously.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for clarifying…. Preparing to tackle front cap of my 5th wheel.
@@RoamingWithRosie a ceramic coating might be good for the finish. I never tried but lots of rv’s in my area do it. CA, sb county
It is a year later how did the paint hold up? 14:44
@@davidmblabla Still looks as good as when it was done.
