    A mythological creature I haven't heard of, cool!
    Nice to see a humanoid that's beautiful and friendly to people.
    Nice to see there is at least one story that doesn't involve coercion 😂
    Seals are interesting creatures, like wolf doggos of the oceans.
    Well done as always. I enjoyed this!

      Glad you enjoyed it Nemesis of Eden. And I’m sure I read somewhere that Seals were dogs at some point in their evolution (and so were whales apparently).

    Sometimes you have to "shed your skin" to discover who you truly are. _"Know thyself"_ .. and _"To Thine Own Self Be True"_

    The Roane!! Yay! Really enjoyed this. Once read a tale about a male roane who's skin had been burned. Shudderworthy
    One note about artwork. I ❤ the art in your videos. Please note tho that sea mammals have flippers, not fins. No veining. The tail flukes are also different. These in the video were very fish-like. Just a thought. Still beautiful.

      Wow thanks for the pointers Leigh, I think I have a case of being influenced (incorrectly) by mermaid lore.

    Or the selkie tells can tell the complications of marriage. As holy and wonderful a good marriage is, it is work to keep that love alive.

    Always interested to learn more about the myths of my Irish ancestors...Irish mythology seems to get overshadowed by Greek,Roman and Norse mythology,so I want to learn more about it.

      @@MystOfMythology you might start getting more visitors. I don't know if you are aware of it, but another TH-camr did a reaction to your Monkey King video the other day. That is how I found your channel. the youtuber is kind of big in the anime, gaming, pop culture and vtuber communities, he has two channels, Nuxanor and Nux Taku.

    Is there a source for the information about their long lifespans? I've tried looking and couldn't find anything concrete about it.

    • @MystOfMythology
      @MystOfMythology  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      In some stories it’s implied usually by the Selkie returning to visit their lover and looking the same as the day they left. In The Sea King and Queen the seals live for an indefinite number of years waiting patiently to return to land in their human form.

    My theory is Caucasians are decendants of Selkies, Sirens, or Mermaid. That would explain the lack of melanin. If you notice most melinated people dont really mess with the ocean. You rarely see black people swimming with sharks lol
