I have this game, and love it. Simple, intense and emotional, captures the essence of the film. Perfect as a first game for young people not used to game boards. So difficult to win with 5 players, but not too difficult with 2 or 3 players. Didn't know about this new rules, definitely worth a try.
It really is a great co-op for families or people looking for a lighter game. I also found it a bit harder at higher player counts, and you end up having to really plan to lure the alien away or manage it carefully with weapons like the grapple gun.
I watch the video with the creator of the game. You do not draw encounter after each player you draw after all players have gone so each round not after each turn; which is why there are not that many encounter cards. The twist in the game is in the final objective which can be very difficult to complete...just like in the film.
In the rulebook on page 5 it says "at the end of each crew member's Crew Action Phase, they draw and reveal an Encounter card". The deck is small because certain encounters cause you to pull and reshuffle cards from the discard pile.
