Beautiful trees! I love Texas sages and have several growing in the ground in my garden for future bonsai. I would love to see your trees when they get those beautiful little purple flowers! Thanks for sharing!
Rizuan Ismail , hello, I am not sure. My experience, they are not really that easy to grow. I had actually more in my backyard that I removed and potted into bonsai pots but the others did not survived. So I doubt that they can be propagated by cuttings. Maybe the seedings are easier. But you can always try, as long as you put it in a bright but shaded place, it might have a chance.
Hello we are growing a red Texas sage plant we had planted it outside but after watching your video we think we would love to turn into a bonsai know what type of soil do you recommend
Hello! There are alit of mixture for bonsai soil, it really depends on you or your area. Most bonsai hobbyists like to concentrate more on Akadama from Japan. But those are really expensive. So my recommendation is do what ever is available in your area. My mixture is natural clay, from uncented Cat liter. Walmart has it, Tractor supply has it. Then add pumice and lava rock. 40/30/30 (percent). If you can add some pine wood chips if you like. That should do it
Hello Nancy, if you can check my latest videos I have my style of repotting. As long as the rootball is intact it’s alright for the tree. The critical part of it is after the repot, where you put it, you should put it in a bright but shady place in a few weeks and then slowly put it in a partial sun until it is established and strong. And keep it always moist but not too wet.
I wild collected great basin sagebrush known as big sagebrush when visiting family. So i wanted to keep a piece of home with me. Is there anyway you can keep this as bonsai?
Iolkie20 Hello, Yes, you can bonsai any tree. If you can repot it to a smaller pot and care for it, it will survive. The key to it is to take care of the tree. Make sure you put it in a bright but shaded area after the repot and make sure the soil is moist all the time, not necessarily too much water. Just don’t let it dry and it will live. Good luck my friend and I hope you enjoy the hobby.
you're the only youtuber that I see working with species native to this area and climate, so I'm sorry for always asking questions under your videos.....what time of year do you repot this species?
No problem, you can ask me anytime. Everything is good to repot during spring and some early spring. And this tree looks strong but it’s really sensitive on repoting. But I got away in the early spring. I know because I have 6 or 7 of this plants and only this 3 survived. I hope this helps

Thank you so much, you are definitely gifted sir
Please tell me how you transplant without killing the tree. I have one more tree left to dig up out of the ground. I'm afraid to touch it.
