Quick question on the dirt jumper topic - brand new to it.
21 Alcatraz vs 21 rampage team (medium)? I’m looking through the geo but not really sure on what to make of it. Going to be riding pump track, dirt jumps and maybe a bit of skate park. Keen to learn some steezy tricks to that I can then throw down on the bigger bike.
I can get an Alcatraz from bikes online - unfortunately the last rampage in Vic sold yesterday in a medium which was what I was looking at (wait till November), hence now looking at the in stock Alcatraz.

26" BMX on some trails

@@elicarter1356 You can get 20, 22, 24, or 26. Most 24 or 26 lose the feel of a bmx in my opinion, but I've seen people still kill it on a 26. They even have plus size/mid fat bmx bikes now. which I'd say are more novelty, but they can take a beating and you can still tear it up on them. 22 is where it's at in my opinion, but I prefer dirt jumpers.

@@elicarter1356 SE, Stolen and Redline make them, among others I think We the People have one as well. I've worked in two bike shops and we had several brands where he had bmx bikes in all the sizes I've listed, and I've owned a 26in bmx, they're out there I assure you.

Do you recommend riding dirt jump bikes in mountain bike trails or not?

My dirtjumper feels better on the trails than my XC bike because the dirtjump bike doesn't do any sounds on hard impact and that feels great.
Overall do you like it better than your mtn bike? Ive been eyeing a dirt jumper that has front and rear brakes. I ride a single speed mountain bike with a front fork now. I grew up on bmx bikes and i tend to ride my mountain bike like a bmx bike. Standing over half of the time and the seat pretty low plus i really like a single gear. Basically a do it all bike for me, street, mtb trails and just playing around. Just curious of your thoughts.. ive never ridden one.
@@gfalexan DJ bikes are easier to play around with, you for sure can still ride on mtb trails but it's something to get used to. I prefer riding my DJ bike, it's alot of fun when riding with friends or just having a chill ride around the city too.
Getting a DJ bike is worth if you got like Dirtparks, Skateparks, Pumptrack etc. around you or wanna ride on street too of course.
A front brake is quite unneccessary unless you want to do some crazy street tricks but else you only need one good brake for such a small bike.
DJ bikes can still be different themselves. Buying a good one already from the start is better for sure. A very cheap DJ bike feels nothing like a good DJ bike.
You don't need the most expensive but don't go too cheap.
@@gfalexan If you mainly run mtb trails, rather get a normal mtb bike tho. It feels more comfortable on a real mtb than on a dj bike for sure. The geometry of a dj bike makes riding on trails awkward.

i have a Specialized P.4 dirt jumper with 27.5 wheels on minion tires all built up for trail riding and ready to go, the only thing im considering is adding front brakes. Would you recommend me adding and needing front brakes for the trails, considering the dirt jumper only comes with rear brakes? Or would i be okay with just my rear brakes on the trails?

I ride my Specialized p3 with 80psi in the tyres that run a Maxxis ikon 2.2 front and dth 2.3 rear and 210psi in the fork running a RockShox argyle
