Leek Town vs Mickleover Season 2024

Its two home games and two defeats so far for Leek Town as they suffered a disappointing 3-1 loss to Mickleover on Tuesday evening, conceding two late goals from which there was no coming back.
Prior to the game Mickleover had only picked up one point from their opening games whilst the Blues were coming off the back of encouraging away performances at Basford and Workington that had yielded 4 points, and so the 557 watching spectators reasonably expected a home victory. However the match showed that there are to be no easy games in a demanding Northern Premier League and you need to be switched on for the full 90 minutes.
The work ethic from the visitors, particularly in the second half was impressive and they probably just about merited their victory on this factor alone, although they also had the pace and quality of #10 Andy Dales who scored one and had a hand in the other two Mickleover goals.
And, as had happened against Workington on Saturday, Leek contributed to their own downfall by being punished for mistakes in conceding possession too cheaply allowing opponents to counter attack a Blues back line that were unexpectedly on the back foot and had not had time to set.
