My maternal family is from Owu Abeokuta Totoro Erunmu to be precise. My grandfather is Samuel Okewola Ijaola, Ijaola was instrumental in the establishment of Owu in Abeokuta. So well be done to you Biodun Olawuyi for this short history of Owu, especially Owu Kuta.

My great-grandfather's younger sister was married to Samuel Okewola Ijaola, her name was Emily Mosunmola Ijaola, from the Ogabiyi family. So cool!! Could I get an email so we could connect, I've been trying to learn more of my Owu roots.
This documentary his educative, but this video his quite different from the first one you uploaded some weeks back where only prince Oyelayo Sanni was capture and you stood at the entrance of the town the names of the Royal family that was mentioned by the prince Sanni and the arrangement is different now from what the new person in the video his mentioning now because I notice some alternation from the stories why am saying this because all this video are documents for reference purpose in the future to avoid confusion thanks I really enjoyed the video am still going to watch again and again to get through the lines again..
Thanks for your observation. After I uploaded the first video, I received a call that the Olowu of Kuta wanted to see me. When I got back to Òwu-Kúta, I was told that there was a mistake in the first video that I needed to record a new one. I had to take down the first video and upload this new one. You would notice I wrote 'Revised' in the title. Thanks once again.

Great job, Biodun. A point of correction though: Anlugbua and Akindele are not the same. Akindele alias Anlugbua is not correct at all. Anlugbua is the traditional prime imole of all Owu, not just Kuta. While Akindele is the first king and ancestor of the royal houses of Kuta. It is believed that Akindele had fierce character and was endowed all the powers of Anlugbua by Anlugbua himself. He is also believed to have entered the ground just like Anlugbua did. However they are not the same. Anlugbua is venerated by all Owu while Akindele is venerated by mainly Kuta indigene. Anlugbua was worshipped by the Owu long, long before Akindele was born. Akindele worshipped Anlugbua too when he was alive.
