    Check out how easy it is to change your motorcycle tire. In this video I get help from my 11 year old daughter and ‪@cyclegeartv‬ to replace my rear tire.
    Check out www.cyclegear.... to find a tire for your bike.
    It only cost $25 to mount and balance with tire disposal when you buy from them.
    This tire change is on my 2019 BMW R 1250 GSA with 24,828 miles.
    Specs:
    Rear Mud Guard - T30 - 20 Nm
    Rear Wheel Bolts -T50 - 60 Nm

    When did Cycle Gear stop balancing your DIY tire changes for free? The website says it requires proof of purchase for original mounting and balancing fee, which would be $50 for a DIY job with tires you got elsewhere.

      I paid $25 for this rear tire change at Cycle Gear, as I bought the new tire from them. I'm not sure what they would charge if I brought in a new tire mounted and just wanted it balanced.

      @@BikesCameraAdventure Yeah. I’m assuming they would charge $25 to mount and balance any tire but you only get free balancing if it needs to be rebalanced after that (with proof of purchase). Since commenting about it here I found an old post of mine about it on Ninjette forum where I actually shared a picture of Cycle Gear’s floor-standing sign that offered free computerized balancing to anyone. It wasn’t a temporary offer either but it was over a decade ago, so I still wonder when they changed that. I thought it was just something they do to get a few more riders in the store. :(

    I’d love to meet up some time. I see we use the same Cycle Gear, which means your in the Fairfield area. I’m on a 2020 1250GSA.

      That would be cool! I'm in Vacaville. I've been wanting to find other Adv riders in our area. If you're on Facebook look up Solano County Adventure Riders group facebook.com/groups/996900421436662/

    She probably didn't want to know why the star pattern, but I would have told her anyway. She did great, better than most adults. As you encourage your audience to change their wheels, I encourage you to change your tire. It's not fun, but a good skill to have. In 50 years, I've never had a shop change my rubber.

      Many thanks! I hear you about changing my own rubber. I've done it before on my 650 GS but I scratch up the rim. Perhaps I should give it another shot. Thanks for leaving a comment!

    Has anyone else had positive experiences with cycle gear tire mounting ? I am worried they will scratch my wheels.

    • @BikesCameraAdventure

      Yes, I know a few others. But, it's a gamble.

      @@BikesCameraAdventure So I did have cycle gear mount my tires and they damaged one wheel 😣

      I’ve had positive experiences with the GS spoked wheels, factory cast wheels as well as OZ forged aluminum wheels. But, as far as I know, the local CG won’t change tires on a GS wheel any longer due to complaints about scratching. They said it was company policy…🤔. Not sure I believe that but maybe more a local store policy. It’s pretty sad honestly. I loved buying at Revzilla and getting them installed there for $25 a tire.
      Unfortunately in my area, I have to take my wheels and new tires to the dealer 40 miles away as other motorcycle shops closer by either can’t balance a single sided swing arm wheel or they won’t mount them unless you buy there (found out too late on that). The dealer charges $110 to install tires on wheels off the bike 🙄. I’m close to buying my own tire machine.

    That was not changing your own tire. That's removing and mounting back the rear wheel. Changing the tire is what the guy at the shop did.

      Thanks for the semantics… Did you read the video description or just the title? I like to keep my titles as short as possible.

    • @johnnyblue4799
      @johnnyblue4799 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@BikesCameraAdventure I rarely read video descriptions, but I find the title misleading. The title is the first thing someone sees. I was expecting to see you with bead breakers and tire irons performing an actual tire change.
      Short titles are fine, if they are not misleading. "How to remove a GS rear wheel" is shorter... and precise.

      I don’t see where the title says “changing your own tire.” Just mentions getting a replacement.

      @emmettturner9452 ปีที่แล้ว

      OK, I guess there was a part in the video where he asked her about how difficult it was to “change your own tire.”
