My favorite thing about this series, is that each part of the $10 game collection has a story behind it, that we all got to see. Whenever you show the current overview of the collection, I see the consoles and such, and I remember the completely different ways you acquired them and the different types of people you got them from. Normally people just show off a collection and that's it, just a collection. With this, it's both a collection of video games & also a collection of stories and memories.
11:52 Assuming the price is reasonable, go back and pick up that “Universal Classic Monsters” DVD set (second row from top). According to my quick eBay search, you can get anywhere from $40-50 (used) to $70+ (new). From the looks of it, it looks used, though. Anyways, happy hunting!
These "Family Computer Systems" are usually sold at shopping mall kiosks around the holidays for around $40.00. These are a combination of a Chinese bootleg multi-cart for the FamiCom/NES and an "NES On A Chip" or "NOAC for short. The one you found has quite a few different games than the one I bought a year ago. As for "Mario 10" the actual game is "Jackie Chan's Action Kung Fu" with an obvious sprite swap.
That last kung fu mario game was Jackie Chan's Action Kung Fu, a pretty rare NES game and one of my first rare finds when I started game hunting years ago.
We found that same gears of war special edition steel case. Sadly I’m pretty sure it was only worth like $15 or so. We thought it would be in the $30-40 range easily!
I got a 2005 Silverado that has the factory Bose stereo system. It sounded soooo good for a factory stereo. Mine has a little subwoofer in the front of the middle console under the dash
Great pick up on the bose radio. I've sold old external floppy disc drives that I honestly found in my work electronics recycling. Found 2 sold both for $50 each
Yeah, as of yesterday our local goodwills stopped selling all video game’s. I tried to purchase a few and they took them and informed me that they where no longer allowed to sell them.
I have a growing collection of those fake consoles and handhelds filled with knockoff games and I really kinda enjoy them. One I have is like a miniature Gameboy with 200 8 bit games on and while a lot of them are junk, there's enough on it to keep me smiling, such as an 8-bit Monster in My Pocket game or a fun little Macross shooter,
My local goodwill will also undercharge me sometimes. They're awesome people, I'm pretty sure they reward their favorite repeat customers. I bet it's better for them to just have your repeat business over the years than to have the $16 dollars for that one purchase. And those bootleg consoles go for $30 at the flea market.
i work inside peoples homes for my day job. this hoarder sold me a still in box sony hi-fi stereo system, samsung dvd/vhs combo with the remote, a scooby plush that i’ve sold two times for $40+, animaniacs lunchbox+ thermos, playboy/girls next door VHS/dvds, and tony hawk 3 for gamecube, all for $70. it was like thrifting during my day job.
My stepfather had that same Bose player way back , I wanna say around 98 or 99. And it worked great. I understand why it would still be selling for a decent amount.
Found a sealed Tiger Woods 2011 Wii at a thrift store yesterday for $4. Put it on eBay last night for $35 free shipping it was sold before I woke up this morning.
I had the same thing, I was recently binge watching the 10$ collection playlist from the start and then after a while I realized "wait, it's June now?"
Bose, Sony and Sennheiser are all great pick ups if you want to flip, or keep for yourself. Great brand names with great sound. Found a bunch of headphones in my local area, and they are quick sellers after a little cleaning up. Awesome videos, Rick!
hello retro rick i live in Ontario so the goodwills are a little different but, I started to work at a good will earlier this year and i can confirm that they send out video games mosly older ones and other high value items to there online shops the higher ups are pushing more stores to do it they have booklets and all for what to send out and what to keep in store it kinda sucks seeing n64s but no one can buy them just saying
To each their own It’s one thing to Find and Get these cool items for yourself it’s another thing intentionally going in buying it all up just to sell at 10x the price So many will never be able to find things like this because resellers
I walked into a Goodwill at opening and saw Prince of Persia for the original Xbox sealed along with Hitman 2 (also sealed). It was insane that they were only $4 a piece.
Thanks for your videos. I have got some deals lately. At my goodwill and salvation army. My one 20 minutes by me the games are 50 cents. The other ones are not it is my favorite. I got a xbox 360 console for 17 and ps3 fat for 40. Sold ps3 for 109 and xbox 360 for 60. You can get games and consoles for cheap.
Hay I got a problem. my local goodwill's video games were 2.00$ to 3.00$ do but now they're 9.00$ all of them. I asked why so expensive they said because they're new games. They thought new = expensive they where xbox 360 and wii games. All of the games you could get at gamestop for literally pennies.
I know you aren't into horror, and the Universal Monsters set was already mentioned, but don't sleep on horror stuff! Movies, figures, posters, memorabilia, there is a huge market for all these. Just a tip from a retro games AND horror collector. Love the channel!
I found a Tasmania devil that is dressed like the devil at a garage sale for 50 cents with a stack of games for a 1.50 each came out to 8 total not bad not bad at all
It KILLS me you find such amazing deals Where as for me the GameStop I used to frequent the most literally has sold my pre- bought handheld system before and I had to argue to get my preorder bonus and drive to another location because they were hoarding them and telling people they didn't have them. 🙄 Yes it happened a few years ago, But yes I am still kinda salty. I actually have that Gears of War 2 collector's edition too, in fact I have all of the collector's editions for the first 3 games. Don't worry about the length of the video, your videos are always great and fly by!
I’ve given up hope trying to find good games to flip at goodwill now so I’ve resorted to CDs. I’m making bank because people dismiss them. Jazz, blues, metal, hardcore, punk, is where the money is at.
I picked up one of those fake Nintendo emulators for $7 at a Goodwill. Never had a Nintendo as a kid, I was a Sega player, so $7 bucks and it sits with the rest of my classic and mini consoles. All good.
I look at it this way to ps5 and new xbox are reidiculously priced (scalpers) they have basically no games for them , so retro is in and most games are better anyways.
What's with the generic price tags at your goodwills? mine all use large official color-coded price stickers and they do sales on certain colors depending on the day.
Awesome video !!, Rick I gotta point out that u missed Star Wars Battlefront 2!!! (same goodwill that you got Valkyria Chronicles) games goes for $25+....Super Monkey Ball will probably go up in value since recently a remastered collection got announced for all major platforms.
thanks Oscar! I debated getting it but just didnt think there was enough meat on the bone to warrant the time spent flipping it. Thanks for watching my friend!

Also if you don't mind me asking, is there any reason for you to keep that FC Twin? I remember you saying you were planning to sell it but it's still there lol. Sorry if I'm being annoying! Those are nice hook-ups and in my experience if they see u like a regular customer some employees give u some deals even if u dont ask them because u r a good value customer to them. Those r nice finds especially the bootleg nintendo system it has a potential to play for fun only.
It was either you or Phoenix who talked before about the Michael Jackson Experience on the Wii. $5 may be tight margins but those are around $20 sold. Surprised you passed on them, Rick!
Yeah I know I bought sega bass fishing for Wii the other day and it had a spongebob game in it So I got it the game was worth more anyway . but I go back to same store today and they had lumberjacks for the Wii. And the disc inside was sega bass fishing so I bought it. Now that game is complete
Darksiders II is a funny game, Death is so surly to everyone! Voiced by Michael Wincott who was in The Crow, Alien Resurrection, Count of Monte Cristo and Strange Days among others. Great casting as Death! It's not worth a lot of cash but worth playing. Conan on the PS3 is going for about 23 bucks complete, don't know about Xbox.
Awesome finds as always. Would be great if you invest on a bag/body clip/mount, w/c are cheap so your hands are free. This is more for the viewers. I was holding my breath when you were trying to open the gears of war w/ 1 hand at that height.
Just had such a bad day : ( came home turned on TH-cam and saw a brand new retro rick video ! Thanks man totally changed my mindset !
Ha so glad they make the day a bit better!
Hope you've only had good days since, my dude.
The “Wrestle” game is M.U.S.C.L.E. It was an NES game. Loved it when I was a kid. It’s based on the mini figure line from the same time.
