Mineral spirits will definitely clean the press and rollers, but I don’t use VOCs in the University of Regina studio. Even with good ventilation, they are dangerous and quite bad for everyone’s health. Our cleanup process for this press uses non-toxic Soyclear 1500, vegetable oil, vinegar, and other safe household products… the only downside being that it takes a little longer than conventional solvents.
@@professortruszkowski I'm working on a newly built print shop at the hungry hollow steam and gas engine show grounds in rice lake Wisconsin. We had a bunch of equipment donated to us. Trying to get everyone up to speed on operations of the 4 presses and the linotype.
Thank for instruction my very good friend. God Bless
This was exactly what I needed to know. Thank you.
Would you mind sharing where you buy Soyclear from? I'm interested in moving away from using mineral spirits for my press cleanup!
I was taught to use mineral spirits to clean the press and the rollers is that not correct?
