I do a similar thing but as Maliketh. I go in wearing Morgotts cloak and use beast incants/chiceda, then when I get down to around half health I quickly change into Malikeths armor (If I have a chance) and use the Black Blade + Black Knife
I am pretty sure i met the same dude just yesterday, there are lots of cosplays of malenia but the way he fights seems just like the guy i found because all he did was spam waterfowl and then switch inso second phase
Not really sure this qualifies but I cosplay Crucible Knights and Banished Knights as my favorite builds. Not the strongest builds in the game but they're unapologetically fun.
FYI: Aside from the attribute buffs, Oath of Vengeance also works as Endure, but, unlike normal endure mounted on heavy weapons, its animation is actually light weapon version of Endure (a lot quicker). And the lasting time is also longer (5 seconds to be exact).
My favorite colossal sword is by far the Godslayer Greatsword. It's fast movements are really fun, the black flame effect shreds enemies, and I really like horseback combat, and DEX actually prevents you from getting knocked off your horse as much. That's why I'm really happy there's a cool weapon that scales with Dex and Faith, that still lets me feel those heavy hits.
I stubbornly spent far too much time killing the godskin apostle in the caelid tower when I was too weak to beat him so I could use the godslayer greatsword on Radahn. That boss takes me dozens of attempts every time I fight him, but with the godslayer greatsword I absolutely flattened him, I don't even think the fight took two minutes. Immediately one my new favorite weapons
@@stiven355 Super late reply, but the Godslayer Greatsword has a unique moveset where it has faster swings than other Colossal Swords, fast enough for certain actions to become true combos at any rate, such as a Black Flame (Incantation) into an R1, or a Crouch Poke into an angled R1. ("angled" meaning you need to not be locked on and have your camera pointed downwards, in this way it's similar to the Banished Knight's Greatsword where if you angle yourself in a specific way, you can combo your swings together.)
The Grafted Blade GS actually has a unique property on its Ash of War. It doesn't just give you +5 in every stat, it also gives you the benefits of the Endure AoW. Even better, it's the faster variant of Endure that you see on smaller weapons. So what you can do is just pop Oath of Vengeance if someone tries to commit to an attack with a long windup and trade with a Collosal R1 or R2, all while taking less damage. It's basically this games answer to the Black Knight Sword in DS3, but as an UGS.
It’s worth noting that Oath of Vengeance is also a 5-second version of Endure. And it’s one of the best weapons in the game at low level. Boosting your overall level is important at lower level, because between levels 72-91, you get 1 defence per level from all types, so if you’re level 51, use this sword to boost to 91, you become massively tankier just from the total-level increase.
Baggarts roar has a funny effect on status effects though. The greatsword with bleed on it still has good strength scaling and good acrane scaling, plus if you do the heavy attack, whatever staus effect is on your weapon is almost instantly applied. Just saying, ng+4 with tha setup and a few buffs (Only talismans and varres mask), i was able to 4 shot mohg. It is really good on players too if they play agressive.
Hey mate, whats the strength/arcane split on a 150 RL build you would recommend with the gugs? Im trying it as well. just wondering what youve found best
6:55 Fun fact: This moveset can also be achieved through AoW War Cry, and is useful against humanoid enemies as the initial full-body charge can stunlock leading up to the overhead.
Fun fact: The overhead chop R2 from the Watchdog and Troll swords can actually combo from Storm Stomp if the stomp connects late, like after a roll catch. My favorite variation of that poison colossal sword build is on the Zweihander with a Dex/Arc build. You can run a Bleed infused Zwei with poison mist and an offhand dagger like the Wakizashi and become a status monster. The crouch poke can either roll catch with Poison Mist or true combo into a dagger swing which can leave them one hit away from bleeding or trigger a blood loss you were just short of.
Fun fact #1: the Ruins Greatsword WA has weapon detection, hyperarmor, and roll-catches on two consecutive backward rolls. You can use it to trade (it basically oneshots if the weapon also hits), or to take advantage of the fact that people prefer dodging it from a distance. Especially potent against -cowards- mages for obvious reasons. Fun fact #2: Braggart's Roar UGS R2 into R1 is a true combo. Braggart's Roar R2s also have increased status buildup (not sure if it scales with charge time), so the true combo usually procs bleed on the 2nd hit, which is usually enough to oneshot people with low res/vigor. Fun fact #3: the max HP debuff + DoT of Maliketh's Black Blade stacks with the Black Knife's WA "Blade of Death" (whose DoT also lasts 5s instead of 2 for some reason) and the incantation "Black Blade", but only 2 debuffs can be active at the same time. Since the important part of these projectiles is said debuff, they work even on phantom hits, so it's easier to stack them than you might think. That said, it's not that useful in duels since your opponent will most likely be below 80% of their max HP by the time you apply the 2nd stack.
My fav for invasions is still GUGS with bleed and usually Braggart's Roar. The true combo acts as such a good delete for when you only get a small window to do your best work.
would love to see you do spears next. both spears and thrusting swords have the ability to block with shields and attack at the same time which is pretty cool
Currently running an absolutly insane build for NG+ that's Powerstance Ruins. Just the sheer damage on them is insane. I think technically bleed Gugs would outdo it but it's for the looks. Also running the Cat Imp head, goat's feet and hands, and Bernahl's chest for that sick ass blue cape. We have a saying with this character against any boss. "If it can stagger, it can die". Mimic Ash with this and the mimic and me can just combo things into the ground. Managed to get 2 concecutive staggers on Melania before which was insane on NG+. Only issue is it's absolutly unusable in PVP because the fucker is over 180 levels, most of that into endurance to barely get Midroll. Still very fun. And, always, gotta have daggers.
Would love for spears, scythes or daggers next. Powerstancing scythes specifically is so amazing and i'd love to see you fight powerstanced, not just show off the moves.
I still remember using Reduvia as my main weapon, but then out of curiosity(and because I tested it on my friend’s save file) I decided to get the Royal Greatsword(even if I originally wasn’t going to kill Blaidd). After that I just dropped Reduvia. The ash of was is just fun af to use, and for some reason it’s amazing against NPC Invaders/Bloody Fingers, it even wrecked Gideon after I failed to cheese him with Comet Azur. Colossal Swords are definitely my favorite weapon category in Elden Ring.
From an objective standpoint the zweihander is the best colossal sword, because it’s also the highest damaging weapon in the entire game. Despite it being lower in ar than the giant crusher, the heavy attack is a thrust, and does benefit from counter attack damage increases. So you can pair it with the spear talisman and the same buff routine as the giant crusher, with golden vow flame grant me and howl, then also apply royal knights resolve with the heavy feature. For talismans run the axe talisman, spear talisman, ritual sword, and goat horn talismans. Use spiked cracked tear for the extra heavy damage. Average charged heavy counter attacks with royal knights resolve usually hit for about 2400-3600 depending on resistances.
i can't play elden ring due to issues but your channel gives me some insight on the weapons so when I do have the game I'll be able to know which to pick you gonna get a sub from dude
Colossals are a great class. I've modded my Royal greatsword to do cold build up and that thing is super strong. Going to add bleed to the grafted greatsword since it is so jagged. All for offline in case people are worried about cheating.
Little tip: uncharged heavies off Braggarts Roar true combo into light attacks. I suggest using a Blood infused GUGS and pair it with the pulley crossbow and sleep bolts. Crouch poking true combos into a full crossbow volley, which will put them to sleep, and assuming you have Braggarts roar active, 2 hand and go for the uncharged heavy with the light followup. Not only are you gonna do 1500+ damage, but a blood GUGS usually pricks bleed in 2-3 hits, so you’re guaranteed to bleed them too. Only the absolute tangiest of builds will even have a chance of survival.
@@executeorder6613Literally, like crouch poking and sleep bolts? Learn to actually fight lmao. Zweihänder is the best when it comes to pvp. The heavy thrust and the follow up are the best in this weapon class especially with the range of the zweihänder 👌
Coming from ds1 I must admit the zweihander is by far the best especially at lower levels It's one of the lightest, it has pokes for days, usable for almost all builds, changeable ashes, it's hard hitting for its weight and it's pretty long By far my favourite weapon next to the claymore and falchion ❤
Underrated part of colossal swords after the early patches is that the better ones have insane defensive stats Greatsword has guard boost on par with a lower tier greatshield, and damage reduction similar to medium shields but more balanced than most of them
I used guts sword with giants hunt it was a true combo before they slowed down the crouch poke but lately I’ve use guts sword with chilling mist and it roll catches if they panic roll
Even thought the Troll’s Golden Sword can be infused it’s best to use a Roar Ash of War on it. Idk why but that makes the weapon actually pretty good when paired with roar medallion and highland axe
I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure you can true combo with the Black Blade if you poke and time the AOW to roll catch. If the damage shows anything, it might be a vigor check
I like the zwei a lot. It looks way better than it did in Dark Souls, it has excellent reach, good pokes, good damage, works in basically any build and it's good both for pvp and pve. It might not be among the best but it's one of the most fun weapons in the game imo. I'm currently using poison zwei, because it's not about getting max damage, it's about making your opponent panic. Poison isn't even that strong, but people usually panic anyways. Also it helps fight laggy people, which is mostly the case on PC
after 120 something tries at godfrey (second to last boss if radagon and eldenbeast are counted as the same boss) it actually was malekiths black blad that carried me through it. damn that was a clencher but defo better then anything before it.
Both Troll swords really need something to stand out since they both look amazing. Sure they ARE lighter than the Greatsword by 4 and 5 weight respectively but the difference is negligible and the Zweihander exists. Personally I'd love it if the Troll's Golden Sword buffed roar abilities and that the Troll Knight's Sword buffed the Phalanx sorceries and AoW. Also I really, really wish the Royal Greatsword, Starscourge Greatsword, and Maliketh's Black Blade had unique R2s based on attacks their respectively wielder uses. These swords are just missing a bit more flair to make them stand out even more.
Grafted Blade GS has a 5 second Endure-like effect. It’s tremendous. The sword is an even better PvE weapon, because the extra 5 in all stats lets you use a lot of build variety in early game, or for newer players looking to test stuff out.
guts greatsword is my fave i usualy just get spells/incants to put status effects on it, magic, fire, bleed etc. makes me feel like an enchanter or sum idk feels good tho lol
I was doing some shenanigans with the armor optimizer and found the lightest armor combo for 101 poise with bull goats talisman It's the Jar, Tree Sentinel chest, and Crucible gloves and boots for a total of 40.5 weight. Could pothead be elden rings giant dad?
I wish some of these swords would get like, a visual effect like a slash trail in the air. Even if the move set isn’t different at least make it visually different when the weapon arts get kick ass visuals lmao maybe just my stoned thoughts on the subject
Invading people in hallways with the Ruins Greatsword is among the most satisfying situations in the game. Invading people in hallways with the Ruins Greatsword when they don't know you're invulnerable for a few seconds after zoning in, run up, and start spamming R1s on you so that you can whack them with the physical damage of the swing in addition to the weapon art when you fire off that absolute cannon is even better.
GUGs is a lot of fun can use many ash of war can buff with anything and affinity with all before nerf run graftted blade then other buffs switch to gug for Lion Claw with the right play though it is almost a one shot build
I've been doing a colossal sword run and I'm using Watchdog's Greatsword (Waves of Darkness) and Cuckoo Greatshield. Awkward in pvp, but in pve, the poise damage from guard counters is downright criminal
Got by with godslayer for a majority of the game. Switched to the black blade once i got it. I keep trying to switch to different qeapon sets. But colossal always comes calling.
Im pretty sure I fought you while you were recording this video lmao. Recall thinking "huh wait I think this guy has a yt channel" after getting promptly stomped
I tried not to end up using colossal swords but use great swords instead but the extra reach and staggering bonus I just couldn't resist. I like the non special swords so I can keep a variety of element types. That awesome Malenia cosplayer didn't break character! 😆
the greatsword has been my baby since day one on elden ring, I thought it was really good back then but then they buffed it even more and im not sure why. It was already so strong but people had no clue how to fight with it both in pve and pvp
Considering you've only ever hit it twice and atleast one of those times the guy was braindead and didnt know how to dodge immediately tells us that this collosal sword is garbage in PvP, thanks.
The black blade is amazing on ng+1 just destroying every boss. Went straight to Marge and godrick and destroyed them at maxed version, strength 65, holy 55

Godslayer was my main weapon for my first playthrough. So much fun
I’ve been using dual black blades for a long while now and it is in fact amazing
I was doing some shenanigans with the armor optimizer and found the lightest armor combo for 101 poise with bull goats talisman
It's the Jar, Tree Sentinel chest, and Crucible gloves and boots for a total of 40.5 weight.
Could pothead be elden rings giant dad?
That Greatsword aow + charged heavy win was sick
My fave has got to be the Royal Greatsword, I beat the entire new game + with it and it was so fun.
GUGs is a lot of fun can use many ash of war can buff with anything and affinity with all before nerf
run graftted blade then other buffs switch to gug for Lion Claw with the right play though it is almost a one shot build
I've been doing a colossal sword run and I'm using Watchdog's Greatsword (Waves of Darkness) and Cuckoo Greatshield. Awkward in pvp, but in pve, the poise damage from guard counters is downright criminal
Oh my god the last fight had me LOSSING IT that was so good
Definitely the Ruins greatsword. Always a fan of blast waves.
My favorite is the god slayer great sword I love the effect and the lore behind it
Let's go 20k subs been here since the Godfrey build
Mr humanity is such a chad for using the worst sorceries you could choose, along with spinning weapon on a katana lol
The “Gravity of the situation”. Well done sir
The Zweihänder easily has to be my favorite of the colossal swords…I will say, the way you pronounced it gave me physical and mental pain ;-;
I love the look of the troll knights sword.
8:14 - R.I.P. in peace D Boy
Malikeths black blade is the best weapon to catch people off guard with the aow I’d you time it right when they run at you
what did bro used at 7:39 like the ashe of war creating aa clone looked so cool
The malenia cosplayer brough tears to my eye and a smile to my face.
"Now I am become Malenia, destroyer of tarnished."
8:15 what a nice one shot
Got by with godslayer for a majority of the game. Switched to the black blade once i got it. I keep trying to switch to different qeapon sets. But colossal always comes calling.
That was a really good final fight
The Wolf's Assault is indeed extremely satisfying to hit, especially when you're built for it. It can one shot. I've hit it twice ever lol
Considering you've only ever hit it twice and atleast one of those times the guy was braindead and didnt know how to dodge immediately tells us that this collosal sword is garbage in PvP, thanks.
@@leonharris5460yeah but its got the drip factor
@@leonharris5460 Well, I didn't say it was good did I? I only said it's satisfying to hit with lol
The Ash of War is extremely easy to dodge
running a dex build on the zweihander sounds like a warcrime
wolf assault used to have really good tracking but it got nerfed
The black blade is amazing on ng+1 just destroying every boss. Went straight to Marge and godrick and destroyed them at maxed version, strength 65, holy 55
I believe Trolls Golden Sword's one saving grace is lategame quality affinity, I'm prolly the only guy that mains it
Your not alone
Trolls roar on a lift for invasions would be unholy
I will never use any UGS that isn't my dear, sweet Zweihander
The Troll's Golden Sword has the worst scaling but it still comes out on top of Zweihander on Heavy and Lightning infusion
I love that I finally see someone talking about the royal greatsword
No one talks about it because its utter garbage
My first character who I completed the game with, I was power stancing malikeths blade and the godskin blade and I can't choose between the two
Hey monk can you do a colossal weapon list, like the wheel of Giza and prelates cozier.
Yo what? I used the trolls golden sword in my first play through and it’s a solid weapon idk maybe the ash of war I put on it elevated it for me
