    • @MoDIYHiFi
      @MoDIYHiFi  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do have a written schematics video somewhere on this channel. The actual physical wiring is relatively easy and if you mess up, SigmaStudio can invert signals and re-assign DACs which is the more difficult part which can save your butt LOL
      Each of the over two dozen builds I have are all different.....the biggest giant headache if I was assigned to document every wire lol

    sick! I'm trying to make a 30-50w speaker with jab3. Dynamic bass is a game changer. And I love the amount of batteries!

      I prefer to do it like JBL etc, eq and then through a limiter, another eq to get it "flat" again (opposed from the pre-limiter) and then the final output eq, that gives some proper deep bass at low volume out of the small speaker i use without using a real bass boost

    i just bought wondom bru5 its got a dsp in it not the ADAU1701 but another one archive has free software and it works but i doubt i need to do any changes but is loud and works great ran on 30 volts so far for hours no over heating and it the smallest one out on market 40 dollars or less .i love sure / wondom boards got like 7 so far and a DSP now the new one in the case sweet little preamp 2in 4 out ADAU1701 deal

    You have realised some really great projects.
    Is the volume control an "AA-AA11117"?
    Is it compatible with the JAB5 amplifier?
    Many thanks in advance and best regards from Germany

    Have you ever thought of making a modular setup consisting of 3 boxes? Not sure if they could be individual Bluetooth to 3 boxes (highs mids lows) (or could do stereo highs/mids + lows) or if the boxes would have to be wired together (wasn't sure if with BT5.0 You could potentially use a lpf to one box and a hpf to the other etc. Just thought that'd be super cool to be able to have a mids high box then a larger sub box to accompany if space suited

    • @MoDIYHiFi
      @MoDIYHiFi  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'd rather make a complete box small enough to produce high fidelity. Highs, mids, and lows all require some volume but the low bass requires as much volume based on the T/S parameters. Easier to transport without all the external messy wires. Cool concept but I don't how practical it would be?

    • @heyimclancy
      @heyimclancy 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MoDIYHiFi yeah probably wouldn't be practical, I really like horn setups, folded horn bass cabs etc so I was thinking of more of a personal niche setup for EDM music haha - awesome build though, learnt so many things off of you I am very appreciative

    Man i bought some of these amplifiers from wondom and connected them up and I got maybe a watt without distortion.. after that heavy clipping all the way. I don't get it. yours is sounding sweet :)

    very informative! thanks. what about using jab5 in a car, a bit over 12VDC when charging. would it give decent power for a normal frontned and a small sub. 2.1. have tried to finde someone testing on 12vdc, but cannot find on youtube.

      You’ll get close to rated wattage if supply voltage is near 40V.

    great job man, must be very satisfying. What does the signal LED do?

    • @MoDIYHiFi
      @MoDIYHiFi  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It just gives visual notification the jab5 is not idling. You can change the threshold of signal detection in Sigma Studio which i had to do since it was cutting off soft passages in some songs. It’s default was about -76bB. I changed to -82dB.

    Hey bro, i have a question about sigmastudio.
    how did you manage to get around the 1024 MIPS limit? i have been playing around with the JAB5 board and its demo program for weeks now, and everytime i add a single feature to the program, its immediately over the limit and wont compile.
    deleting functions from the orgininal program to clear some space leads to other errors.
    I can see in the video you have some modificationa in your demo program, how did you implement those without running into those problems?
    Hoping for your help, thanks in advance!

    • @MoDIYHiFi
      @MoDIYHiFi  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Wondom demo source code has it pushed to the limit so I removed some features that I didn't need to make space and recoded the signal flow. It's important that you remove small sections at a time and recompile successfully. If not undo last changes, ie ctrl-Z. The signal flow has to make sense from source to final DAC output.

    • @marvinirrelevan563
      @marvinirrelevan563 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MoDIYHiFi Thanks for the answer, do you have any suggestions on what to remove and how to exactoy reroute the signal flow? i really just need the bare minimun so i can put in my own stuff.

    • @MoDIYHiFi
      @MoDIYHiFi  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@marvinirrelevan563 Just remove functions you don't need. I don't know what your overall design will be. You can always not use the Wondom code and build your own from scratch. That's what I did in the beginning. Can't lie, learning curve can be steep.

    Noob question here. When you change the volume on your phone, does it change the volume on boombox? I know it does on most things, but I heard it doesn't on some amp boards.

    Did you use 6ohms cones? I'd like to build a custom Bluetooth speaker with two JAB5 in daisy-chain, but I only have 4ohm speakers

    • @MoDIYHiFi

      All my drivers are 4ohm. JAB5 can certainly handle 4-8ohms.

    How did you get the jab5 to work on battery power

    • @MoDIYHiFi
      @MoDIYHiFi  ปีที่แล้ว

      If you look at the published schematic for the battery board it's rated for 21vdc with many output headers which can power your project.

    With both boomboxes built, what's your opinion on Dayton ND140 vs RS150?

    • @MoDIYHiFi
      @MoDIYHiFi  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good question! RS150 little more expensive, heavier, and robust spider frame but nearly same performance as ND140. ND140 appears to be more stable at higher volumes and little bit more punchier. RS150 looks slick but the ND140 looks solid when top mounted. I also think the ND140 is used in the DiamondBoxes. I have used smaller versions of both but my next build will be ND140!

    Noticed you are using a separate rely …. Is this for switching power ,turn on ,or some other application ? …..I love the symmetry of each box …. Why not add USB hubs…. Notice you don’t ?…. This by no means diminishes the beauty of what you have made.

    • @MoDIYHiFi
      @MoDIYHiFi  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Since this was designed with the larger Wondom 26650 BMS board, the LED power switches can only handle max 5A, and the larger Wondom BMS board also has 12VDC in version 2 in addition to main 21VDC (5S). So I used a Bosch relay to supply the 10A (21VDC) plus to 400W amp via a LED switch which is rated for 12VDC to activate the Bosch relay. The LED switches can be purchased in 12V or 21V. Unfortunately they are overrated since I welded one shut with less than 5A rating so be careful. USB hubs are great for charging devices like a battery bank which was not the purpose of this build. You made an astute observation!
