We typically don't heat the boat, it is winterized right now. When it is cold and we are aboard, making dinner on the oven heats us up before bed, or a tiny 12v heater.
I know it's kinda late now, but for future reference, couldn't you just have replaced the part with the fan motor in it and have been done? Especially since the housing was so well sealed to the deck.
Hi, thanks for the comment. Yes, that would have been easier but the entire unit had to be sent in for the warranty to cover its replacement. Also, a good opportunity to re-bed and install completely new parts when they arrived.
I gotta move mine from forward hatch to just over the Head... Gonna cut out the hatch cover to 12x16 for a tinted plexi cover. Was drilling the original difficult? I've got a Helms which has a plywood core laminated on both sides. 4" Hole saw should do the trick, I hope...
Hi there, not sure if your still receiving comments from the channel, but I would like to know the model number for the vents you installed. I am looking on the internet for ones that look like the ones you installed and can't find any. Yours are particulary attractive chromed models. The only metal ones I am seeing look more like a brushed steel. I would appreciate any help you can offer. Thanks so much Bill S. s/v ODIN

We used a jig saw and a 4" hole saw. Good luck on your project! The plexiglass hatches gave our boat better light, really liked it.
Nice work! Crew is getting big!

I used silicon sealant & not epoxy glue to water seal the solar vent. Easier to remove later on. Thanx for the video.

spinnaker5514 The brand is Nicro. Perhaps they have changed the finish? I haven't been keeping up lately with the solar vent styles. Best of luck!
Do you live on the boat over the winter?
We are not currently, the boat is torn apart for interior projects.
thanks
I should get some solar vents LOL
