You should try Nicaraguan pineapple empanadas! The recipes online don’t really do it justice, some of them even have cream cheese!? If you want I can comment the recipe below

I always pick the ones with custard filling or flakey pastries. My favorites are "hojaldras" especially the savory ones 🤤✨

I remember getting up before everyone else every morning and eating concha’s and cafe con leche with him! He’d always pull out the left over beans from last night and I never personally liked it but definitely recommend everyone try it once! Also your Spanish is so cute!

I agree - I’m Mexican as well. Not really surprising since she is a Filipina . Filipinos share a lot of cultural and linguistic ties with Mexico , as it was once a Spanish colony as well for nearly 400 years. I think of Filipinos as Mexico’s brother/sister on the other side of the Pacific. ✌🏽✌🏽

conchas all the way, i love love loveddd picking out pan dulce at la michoacán with my mom i’d always get the pink ones 🥰 and concha is my grandmas name but i guess i always thought of her name as the seashell and not the pan dulce lol. also the pink cakes were so yummy! and the gingerbread shaped like a little pig i can’t think of the name of it

Holy cow...it's so cool to hear the name Beryl being brought back! She kinda reminds me of a friend of mine looks-wise. Those pastries truly look like they were made from manos de angeles. 💗 I couldn't pick just one, but I've seen the concha one before and they always intrigued me, so if I had to choose one above all, it would be that one!
I love Mexican bread. My local supermarket has a variety of them, they're probably made in a factory, but they're still delicious and taste better than the prepackaged conchas I've had.

The one with two cakes are from Denmark 🇩🇰 we eat them in the mornings after a bun (in some parts of Denmark 🇩🇰) also called “Danish’s” here we call them WIENERBRØD because they originally (ind the olden day) were made in by bakers from VIENNA.. without apples

I always gotta have a concha, no question. Whenever I visit my local Mexican grocery store there are two pan dulces that I must get. A happy face cookie and a concha of some kind.

I’m not Mexican but we have a lot of Mexican friends and oh my gosh the food is so good. Like tex mex (which I used to live) I hate now, (ok I like quesadillas 🤣🤣) but now that I’ve had authentic Mexican food it’s just so good like the rice the meats the tortillas ahhhh I’m hungry talking about it 😂😂

Try looking up Mexican grocery stores near you and then look in the bakery section. Also Walmart sells them in boxes of 3 concha per box. In the bakery section by the bakery.

Those pastries are nothing compared to the pan dulce offered at a panaderia close to where I live. La Purisima Bakery, located in Glendale Arizona, is a fourth generation family owned bakery offering the very best conchas, empanadas, and other pan dulce delicacies. And the prices are amazingly low for the quality; most selections are around one dollar each, and specialty offerings are around $1.50. My dad, a Mexican and pan dulce aficionado, tried every panaderia in the Phoenix metro area and declared La Purisima the clear winner of best pan dulce in the Phoenix area. Other entities and publications have agreed and selected them for various awards. If you're ever in the area, I recommend you give them a try. You won't be disappointed.
