I like Barrage because once its upgraded you can run through most enemies (not immobile ones like tentacles). Most skills don't allow you to run through mobs. Also, it's a stamina free block while you're running and it taunts the mobs that you run through in addition to the ones that you land on with the attack. Basically you can run through the melee mobs to the ranged mobs and group up the mobs with it that way. I haven't gotten into serious tanking yet with the expansion, so it's just my initial impression, but my personal tank build so far is Smite, Barrage, and Bludgeon. I have most, but not all of the passives you took. I didn't really see much healing from better together, so I'm using the other capstone, my thought process is that it could save some squishies from getting 1 shot at times.

No, this is true. Shield counts as armor. I was heavily leaning darkplate, but then I notice the element resistances on the shield, so I think long term i might still go dark plate, but the shield meets my main needs.. my plan is to slot diamond gems in armor and use shield plus amulet for the mutation specific resists.
In the other video, you say, that you struggle holding aggro in alot of rooms. Now I see why... You take low strenght and you prefer a little bit more weaken over the taunt with mobility. Its not the fault of AGS, that you have trouble with thread.
I actually have no issue at all with threat but it’s one of the #1 things that people complain about with Tanking and it’s especially bad when you’re in a group with people who don’t know how to follow the Tank or stack properly.
I have a "no offense" better sword/flail/tower shield 🛡 build I can send you a Pic of my setup. Your job as tank is not healing, if you set your flail tank to SEMI-AGRO SLASH heal you won't be known and "it is known" 😅
I've personally found Sundering clear out to be better then shockwave, it has a better rend and personally I used the ability for the knock down (knock back in mutations and elites is a knock down) and team fortify.
I like both, but yeah ^^ In his other tanking video, mentioning all the useful weapon perks for tanks, he doesnt even mention Sundering Clear. Kinda absurd... I was so happy to find a tank oriented channel, but doesnt seem like he knows whats hes doing :/...
I have swapped out Vortex for Barrage and I think it's an amazing build...I max out the Bastion tree for the mitigation links. I was tanking Tempest last night with flail (only use tower shields) + hammer, I didn't feel the need to equip my SnS as the flail fulfils that need and Barrage is just amazing at moving around the battle field
Yep, Barrage > Vortex. Tested a lot of build variantions and Arcane Smite + Barrrage + Warding Bludgeon is the best combination. And Human Shield > Better Together!
i have tanked entire day today with flail and it seems so god damn weak, i think the playstyle is cool and everything. but it just do not work.. i think SS is BIS
What do you mean with "weak"? If you have Odo with a Carnelian and a good build (not the one from this video!), its really, really good for tanking! Pair with a Warhammer and happy tanking^^!
Flail doesnt work as tanking weapon. There is no Raw Damage mitigation, you wil lget him for full damage if not raising shield up while with SnS you get 30-50% reduced damage.
Technically false. The debuff that flail stacks on the boss can (and generally does) equate to a 30% reduction in damage. Not only is that -30% dmg against you, but your allies as well. I would say that is quite an advantage over personal DR.
Warding Bludgeon feels SO much better than Defenders Resolve, even after the improvements of the animation... You do a little bit less dmg compared to SNS, but its working very well! ^^

I agree, I took barrage as well. It helps for Mut's too because you can get ahead and tank faster

@@SomeGuyFromUtah Shield has never been counted as armor. Even when you go to craft them they are under your weapons and not armor.

Flai/Sword/Tower Shield Tank + Flail Kite Shield/Light Staff Healer best 100% team and "You" survivable builds by DM

I'm personally sticking with sns, due to the rotating between defenders resolve and fort shield rush makes me pretty much unkillable
