We Japanese love Germany and Germans very much.Germany and Germans are the best in the world. God bless Germany and Germans.Japan's national anthem Kimigayo was made by Hayashi Hiromori and German Franz Eckert. We Japanese sent 9,000 cherry blossom trees to Germany in 1990. It is said that the money of this cherry blossom trees is gathered by the donation of the Japanese and bought a cherry blossom trees . Almost all Japanese people participated in donations. The Japanese always cooperate with Germany. This cherry blossom tree is still in Berlin. All surplus money was donated to Germany. We Japanese love Germany and Germans very much. Japan imports many German products to support Germany.God bless Germany and Germans.
Japan made the constitution, medicine, the army in by reference to Germany during the Meiji era. Japan succeeded in modernizing thanks to Germany. Japan learned a lot from Germany. There are two Germans statues at the University of Tokyo in Japan. There are many other German statues in Japan. Germany is a Japanese teacher.I always pray to God for the eternal happiness and peace of Germany. The most imported cars in Japan are German cars. Most of the cars that run in my town are German cars. This is a story that Japanese people helped Germans in japanese Okinawa Miyakojima, Japan. In 1873, the German Merchant shipRobertoson was hit by a typhoon. The ship was aground off Miyakojima Miyakokuni.
At that time, the islander rescues the crew. There were many Germans, but all were successfully rescued. And the Japanese treated all Germans wounds.
And the Japanese made the Germans eat delicious food. They gave Germans a place to sleep. The Japanese entertained the Germans with songs and dances. The islanders repaired the German ship. The days were 34 days. And the islanders put a lot of food and water on the ship and sent the Germans to Germany safely. There are still monuments sent from Germany in Okinawa.Japan will always help Germans from now on.There are other stories of Japanese helping Germans. There are so many that I cannot write.
After the war, the German city was destroyed and many Germans were killed. We Japanese are very sad about that. I pray to God that Germany will never be unhappy again. There is a tower in my town praying for the Germans soul to be saved. It is a story in the Bando camp.About 100 years ago, there were many German prisoners of war in Japan.Japan did not treat German POWs awfully. The Japanese treated German POWs as friends. Japan respected German POW freedom.Japan did not force German POWs to work. Germans were respected in Japan. They spread German culture and history,German music and art, beer and sausages, Baumkuchen,German food culture, etc to Japan.Germans also spread European culture, art and music to Japan. The German bridge created by German prisoners of war is still well preserved in Japan.Japan did not want a war with Germany. At that time, Britain and Japan were allies. There was a request from the United Kingdom, and it became a battle with Germany.
Japan allowed German POWs to do sports and cultural activities. The Japanese donated a lot of money for the German POWs. We donated a lot of donated items, daily necessities and sweets.Exchanges between villagers and Germans were also popular. It is more correct to say that the camp where the Germans were located is a German village than a camp. When the Germans returned home, Japanese and Germans grieved for goodbye.

You mean Bavaria specifically. Bavaria is the German state that has all the unique and interesting culture. The rest of the country is lifeless. TBH Bavaria needs to break off and become its own state again. They have everything they need. The rest of the country is just weighing them down.

There are beer, sausage, bread, German and European dishes in Japan. This is because a German who was in Japan taught me. Germans also taught football, rugby and tennis.
The Germans spread the Ludwig van Beethoven song to Japan.

yodeling in rural parts of Austria (and probably Bavaria, maybe Switzerland also) could have many meanings. In older times it was a way of communication for people living uphill with people living in the valley. It could be a way of communicating between boys and girls (my grandma told about this - groups of guys would do this cry and then girls would answer from a distance). at festivities it's used to bring up some mood (like most folk cries). It can be sad in folk songs about loss, too

I really enjoyed watching this. It's lovely to see people appreciating and performing traditional regional dance forms. I especially love the deceptively simple spinning on the part of the ladies - it takes a lot of work to keep from getting dizzy when doing a move like that for a short period of time, let alone for long, repeated stretches! And the smooth transition back into partner work was absolutely gorgeous. Plus, I just really like the look of their skirts when they're bell-shaped. :)
    Great job.

Thanks. There are Groups all over Germany with regional Dances. More in the south though. Some are professional Tourist Performers, some for fun. Typical for my place was a wooden shoe Dance as you know from NL. You might find a Kind of Performance in the opera "Zar und Zimmermann".

Danielle.

For all the experts out there. Bavaria is part of Germany like Texas is part of the US. Schuhplattler is traditional Austrian and Bavarian folk dancing. It is done to celebrate the different seasons and harvests of the year. Some of the dances are courtship dances. There are over 50 dances that I know of if not more. I should know I danced most of them when I was between the age of 12 and 35.

  • @rangarthorvin

Maybe, but not because of this. This is Bavarian folk dancing. I've learned it in the early 70's from my father who was a member of a Bavarian folk dancing club in Milwaukee, WI. There He learned it from my Opa, who was president of the club at the time, who learned from his father who was from Bavaria, So really its just some people trying to hold on to some traditions. Like any other type of "old world" dancers.

@AiEnma26 I do German folk dancing sorta like this, we don't get dizzy cause we either A: look at out partner the entire time, or B: we do something called "spotting" where we find something in the room, and look at only that, while we spin we turn our heads to continue looking at it. That and you get used to it after a while.. lol

Lighten-up, comment writiers. This is clearly serious competition, aiming to make sure dancers know exactly how it can be done perfectly. Come back in the evening, and see them doing it just for fun, with plenty of smiles and laughter. The "yelling" is simply the equivalent of "Yee-haa!" which makes just as much sense.

These shrieks used to be a common method of communication in the mostly mountainous areas where this dance is coming from originally. You can hear it very well when theres the echo from the mountains. For some reason it became part of the traditional dancing, pretty much like the yee ha that used to be a battle cry and now reappears in American country music I guess :)

German Dancing is very Regional, not all are Miltaristic. But you will fing lots of stamping and Clapping in most.

I'm german & came to canada when I was 7. You know, every country has good & bad and to point a finger at anyone for whatever has been done in the PAST is pretty niave/stupid. I'm proud to be german!!!!!!!!!!!
