@insertgenericusernamehere2402 Nothing excuses that....but also a couple of losers on the internet sending him messages doesn't excuse his bad decisions and the whiff of corruption. Weird that the var and pgmol backed him...only to have the independent panel taken 5 mins to overturn it. How did he get abuse online if he's not on socials? Sounds weird doesn't it? Sounds like a pr smokescreen to me tbh.

@@francesoxberry6816 I think he's a very solid ref although he has in the past made many bad decisions (including some against my club) but you will get that when your in the spotlight for it and have been doing it for years. As for him not being on social media, just because he's not online doesn't mean his family aren't and you also get the wrong'uns threatening him that way.
I agree with you in the doesn't excuse his poor decisions, same way when coote came out as gay happy for him but doesn't excuse the crap he did in the past either. I think the pmgol needs to ditch their pride and admit fault, it's one thing to be looking after referees. Another to blindly excuse poor officiating and unfortunately that's why the state of reffing is considered so poor because they never take accountability.

That "50% of your wage is you're injured" is absolutely disgusting. Imagine the player does his knee ligaments... On top of having a moral very low because he has a very serious injury that will put him away for 9 months, the guy has half of his wage... There are injuries, and I mean most of them, you don't come back quicker. That's it. You need that amount of time and that's it. Players won't come back fit quicker. They will come back quicker though. Still injured. They will lie to get on the pitch and get paid.
Players would also go less hard, thinking of an injury. Like when a player is out of contract in 3 months, expect for their whole careers.

    • @wordsinahandle

      @thickskull 8 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

Yeah it will lead to players suing the clubs for lost wages and other contract issues like that - so hard to prove what is a genuine injury vs players hiding.
Also heard on the rest is football podcast an interesting theory that all the VAR timewasting and players effectively standing around cooling down while a decision is taking 3-4mins and then being asked to get right back to the pace of the game could be contributing to all the muscle injuries.
Too many games and the pace/style (high line and chasing back) they are expected to play at as well is also a factor

@@Gideonsmythe confirmation bias is when someone selects or interprets data in a way that agrees with their established beliefs. In other words they have a bias towards results that confirm what they believe to be true. It would be like viewing the fact that a single referee makes more mistakes that go against a singular team and then concluding that it must mean he is intentionally doing so. Confirmation bias is not something that can be drawn from data objectively, it is the subjective bias of the person perceiving the data and drawing their favourable conclusion. In your context, it would be more appropriate to say “the stats suggest a possible bias” or that “his stats showcase a need for further investigation to assess if there is a bias.” In the end it’s still appropriate to separate the referee from the club while an investigation be done if that is the decision of the PGMOL.

Are we at a point where the ref expects VAR to bail them out but VAR don't want to undermine the ref's decision, so they just go along with it?

Owen v Vardy and you choose Vardy, wtaf are you talking about. I like Vardy but Owen played for top clubs, at the top level, scored a lot of goals and won a Ballon d’Or unfortunately injuries shortened his time at the top. Vardy started late but his time at the top is probably still longer than Owens, he's scored less and other than a premier league title/FA Cup achieved less individually or at club level. Been some really bad takes from you guys the last couple of shows.

Laughable - 1) - I clearly mention FA cup above, i'm not counting Comm Shield & EFL Championship. 2) Ballon d'Or was not popularity contest back then, if it were Owen would never have won 3) again I clearly mention that Vardy has had longer at the top. This would offset the fact Owen probably got better supply.

Cheers for a great show again.
Yeah nowadays and esp as an arsenal fan I can't watch the league when I can't trust the refereeing. It's so bad the legitimacy of the league is suspect. It just so happens that Liverpool is far and away the best team this time. It's weird, 6pts + GIH feels like infinity and I've seen that points lead evaporate in a moment as well. But it still feels the league is gone for the 19 other teams anyway.
But yeah, I'm in the boat that VAR is fine, if handled by good refs. There's no accountability for the horrible refs and their buds in the VAR room just back them up every time it seems. Unwatchable.

Last season Newcastle finished 7th with one of the worst injury records ever. Tottenham have no excuse to be where they are; they’re still putting out a relatively strong team. The problem is the manager. Howe at Newcastle knew how to win games and adapt. Big Ange has become exposed for what he is. A poor coach who can’t win games unless he has all his players available….

Yeah but what if it like a gruesome injury to no fault of the player? Its good and well to train to prevent and go back to training sooner after a injury. At the same time this is why the medical departments are meant to be top notch. The load of games is what restricts extra fysical training and it's the medical that decides when and what type of training is done after a injury. What if someone takes you leg off and breaks it? What if you are played soo much that your body breaks like Saka and so many others?

The reality now is that the so called "professional foul" is accepted. The foul in question was unacceptable and the player should be condemned. He wouldn't get away with it in Sunday league so why should as a pro. It was a studs rake on an unprotected part of the leg. Gutless actually. I am sick of the constant interruption of the game and the hairline screaming of spoilt brats. You lot are arguing its acceptable. It isn't.

@ ''Cynical'' ''raking'' having to add adjectives to make it seem worse than it was. also a red changes the game substantially, a goal can be easier to overcome.. both are wrong decisions, i don't need to punch down on Liverpools bad descisions or diminish them in order to make myself feel good, i'm well capable of calling out bad decisions even when they are against our rivals..
Also the opponent didn't score a goal in the same manner and without having a wrongful dissalowance of that goal in the same game and thus double punishing you, Arsenal had a very similar situation happen to them except with more force as actual weight was put into the tackle against them which didn't get a red just like MLS's one..

You would say what you said earlier: "they refuse to spend, they refuse to go for the top players, they don't put 80 millions on a player and instead they put 20M on a random from Lorient".
