turbocharged AND intercooled !!! Who would have thought ! No lag in these cars. Turbo's are tiny. Stock they run under 6 seconds to 60. Not sure what hes talking about with the steering. Guess he left the stability control on.
Okay one serious question. I have heard and read from here in the internet that the stereo deck of this car (bose) doe's not read mp3 cd's or burned songs to a cd. am i right here? pls confirm thanks.
so once you've launched the car does it convert back into front wheel drive to minimize drive train loss? also is there an exact figure for the 80km - 120km? or the imperial units of that one.
mazdaspeed 6 stock 0-60 is about 5.4 according to car and driver, turbo lag is where it needs to be, in the lower rpms and because its a small turbo, you get max torque at just 3000 rpms. However, this car needs to be short shifted (around 5900 rpms) for maximum acceleration since it seems that the turbo runs out of breath at 6000 rpms. I know because I got one
i currently have a slightly modified 02 maxima 6speed. its running around 290 horse 270 torque to the motor according to the dyno. i love my car but have been thinking of getting this car. should i do it? i dont wanna get a "slower" car and it sure is nice having a 3.5 L in the city for torque torque torque.. does this car compare to my max?
the speed 3 is, fwd dominates on twisties, look at polo golf or GTi, coz can zoom out of em quickly. it can pull like .9G's on skid pan, it is a limited slip fwd, doesn't handle like your typical fwd car. also fwd = lower drive train loss due to friction compared to rwd or awd, not to mention lighter parts. though costs bit more to service but less to manufacture
they are quick, How do you make em launch in awd mode if they are on demand when they detect slippage. how fast is it 80km to 120km, 100km - 200km, its max speed. I am thinking of going from my mazda 3 (not speed, 5 speed manual)
to launch this car you just need to give it about 4000 rpms and quiclky feather the clutch while flooring it. with the DSC off, the computer wont hesitate to give that torque to all 4 wheels. 80-120, 100-200, arent really that fast but this car really shines in lower speeds though. the computer restricted top speed is 240 km/h, and i think it takes about 24seconds to get there from a stop.
@auto123 no way. Speed 6. I've owned both. There's a platform plateau that can't easily be overcome just due to it being wrong wheel drive. Awesome car, lots of space (hell I moved in it), great gas mileage (30+ mpg; stay out of boost :-)....trap speed will always be higher, but for it to post times like a MS6, it requires slicks. Interior is way better (leather with heated seats and sunroof), and if you get heavy rain and/or snow, MS6 truly earns it's money. Take both out for a spin :-)
This definitely beats the WRX so does the Mazdaspeed 3. And you cant exactly compare this or the speed 3 to an STI because number one, speed 6 is more competing with things like the legacy gt and the speed 3 is more competing with things like the WRX both the 3 and six are better overall than both of those in my opinion and they both dominate them in performance. Number 2 you cant compare them to STI's and Evo's because of the price difference (although speed 6 has a somewhat similar price)
WRX is too much I agree and it has a 5sp manual this has 6 speed :) the wrx sti on the other hand is in a different class, though the speed 6 is also a sleeper!
really? From where? like from a mazda dealership? Oh i see. That's what i mean. Of course they would be in audio cd format because it's file format is mp3 audio.
I didn't know the Speed 6 came in a wagon (only in Canada maybe?) but I'd gladly trade my Speed 6 Sport for a wagon or a Speed 3.As for the shift throws being too long, are you nuts?? I wish I'd listened to people's advice because the Mazda manual trans is SHIT. It's notchy as hell and is basically a 3 speed with a granny gear+2 over drives.I greatly prefer manual transmissions and my "new" 2006 Speed 6 is the 1st car I've ever owned that I wished was an automatic. Anybody want to trade me a Speed 3 for my Speed 6??? I'd trade for a Subaru WRX wagon too.
A lot of people will be looking for these cars years from now
WRX Owner
JAYFROMHARLEM couldn’t have predicted it better, I just bought one with 241,000 in 2019🤙
This is the ultimate mazzzda.

well. I have a speed 6. and the steering is like, 100% opposite of what he said...

I get you it is like the STi for subaru, or rs for audi, or FPV for ford or HSV for holden etc
so once you've launched the car does it convert back into front wheel drive to minimize drive train loss?

agreed, but fwd brings torque steer , understeer and traction issues when flooring it

@xxnissansilviaxx The Speed 3. It's smaller and more agile.
"This tester may have been slightly abused."
Cue car doing doughnuts in the carpark!
this or the speed3? whichis bettter?

@hirirsi They do have the same fonction.
its faster also, once it gets traction, bu i dont really like the idea of 263 hp on a front wheel drive setup.
@Pac2Man Automotive journalists aren't exactly known to take care of the cars :)

Its awd @juyoungallstar and i can do 0 - 60 in 4.8 seconds stock
@JAYFROMHARLEM
Years from now? Hell, I'm looking for one now!
@Dcastkid Good luck with that! Just go and buy a Wrx or STi.
$35,000?!? Where the hell do you live!
its not our fault if a car company out of hiroshima makes better cars for cheaper
