The red panda is an elusive and mysterious mammal of the biodiversity of the Himalayan forests. They have also been called "firefox", "lesser panda", and "red-cat-bear"; the red panda has many nicknames. The name panda is said to come from the Nepali word 'ponya', which means bamboo or plant-eating animal.
