I’ve only seen one comment actually acknowledging who “first Walter” was. His name is Stephen Furst and he was a legend. This wasn’t the right role for him, but he has been in some iconic roles, most notably Flounder in “Animal House.” Check it out. It’s a classic.
Jonathan made the role better in my opinion. He basically broke the ice around the whole acting as Drake was actually really awkward with acting with Stephen and Drake acting with Jonathan was basically like it was meant to be. That’s why the show got so good tbh, perfect chemistry between the actors is the key to good acting and believable scenes
1. Pilot Walter is creepy and has zero chemistry with Audrey. Goldstein was way more likable and they actually seemed to like each other. 2. Drake's hair is better. 3. It seems funnier this way. The flow is better and the jokes have better execution. Good call on changing the casting, I think.
The acting seems a lot genuine and not cheesy. When unaired Walter fell on the couch it was very cringeworthy and hokey. Great change with the aired pilot!
