    This 1.2 L, 4 cylinder MPI engine will last long thanks to its simplistic structure while it'll be easy and cheap to maintain, even at high millage. I would prefer this version for urban driving over a direct injected and turbo engine

    • @andersnielsen6044
      @andersnielsen6044 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      What are your evidence for that statement?

    • @MadMonroe90
      @MadMonroe90 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@andersnielsen6044 well, if you type in Google search MPI vs GDI you'll see the difference between these type of fuel injection systems. The first one is mixing air with fuel before entering the combustion chamber, meaning that when the intake valve is opening to let these two quintessential elements in, than the intake valve is washed meanwhile by the fuel which is arriving from above. In direct injected engines the fuel is injected directly into the combustion chamber where the mixture with air is happening and just because of this reason carbon is building up on the intake valve and intake system after a while mostly because the earlier mentioned fuel is not keeping it clean while arriving from above just like in case of MPI injection. This is leading to the need to clean direct injected engines after a certain millage, otherwise they'll loose power or even fail to operate in a worth case scenario. Those type of GDI engines which are paired with a turbocharger are usually building up the carbon in the in question area quicker which is leading to higher service costs. Plus an original (not rebuilt) turbo is costing somewhere around 1K so if you'll need to replace it you'll need to dig deep into your pocket. This is the reason why non turbo MPI gasoline engines are more reliable and more cost effective to use. Numerous taxi driver friends are using engines like this which are having between 400000 and 800000 km in their clock with their block and cylinder head untouched.

    • @MadMonroe90
      @MadMonroe90 2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      @@andersnielsen6044 and small displacement engines which are between 1.0 and 1.6 liters which are paired with a turbo and direct injection are having a higher horsepower per liter figure than naturally aspirated port injected ones and just because of this reason their internals are more stressed, resulting a quicker fading process. These type of new gen petrol engines can barely touch 200000 km without needing a rebuild (check 1.0 EcoBoost, 1.6 EcoBoost, 1.4 TSI or 1.6 Price engines and you'll see) just because of this strucure wise overpowered nature

      i agree. I have a ford fiesta 2003 model i've bought in 2005, with only 2 years. and man, even today it purrs like a kitten. dont drink any drop of oil, everything works. onlyh major issue was a coilpack which i replaced.

    • @SandStormPower
      @SandStormPower 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@cristianmd7749 the i30 here in portugal have the 1.4 and 1.0 petrol turbo engine. No N/A engines, sadly. Taxes here are too high since few years back, so only smaller displacement turbo's are sold in the vast majority.
      the only cars I've tested with turbo were Dacia Stepway with the puny 0.9 90hp engine, Focus Active with 1.0 125Hp (very heavy, but damn stable) and Puma SUV 1.0 125 mild hybrid.
      on Dacia and Focus at low revs pull, it was... gutless. I'm afraid the turbo i20 will be gutless too, but it's a light car, so... WE're confined here in portugal, i'm unable to do a test drive now.

      I'm considering this car with this engine. I have a Mazda 2 1.25 with 75hp, and after some proper engine break in, I can cruise effortlessly in 5th and it pulls sweetly till redline. Many reviews are performed with an engine with a couple thousand miles. I'm sure I could do the same with this i20, and I would enjoy it trouble free for years, a NA engine nowadays is a blessing!

    The road into the woods was very beautiful. Since you were driving 82 hp variant, did the car feel under power while taking pick-up?
