to answer your question about john’s daughter, he had her after the end of the epilogue in rdr2. that was in 1907, and rdr1 is in 1911. so he had her in between that time and she was an infant or a toddler at most when she died. she was never mentioned in rdr2 because she didn’t exist in rdr2. so yes, this game is a sequel and he did in fact have a daughter who died. hope this helps!!
@matthewlacey4198 There's a post-main story interaction with Abigail in Beecher's Hope that hints she's pregnant: m.th-cam.com/video/fQuYgix-gmw/w-d-xo.html&pp=ygUUcmRyMiBqb2huJ3MgZGF1Z2h0ZXI%3D
1:11:43 this is a sequel, Jett. In RDR2, if you play as John after the epilogue, there is an interaction at the Ranch with Abigail where you see her knitting and John asks her something along the lines of "what are you knitting?" and shes like "oh, you'll see..." and John says "it would be nice to have someone new to knit for one day". So the consesus appears to be that Abigail either lost the baby while she was pregnant and/or there were some complications after she gave birth/lost the baby and that's why they never had more. Rockstar hasn't said anything to make that the actual official canon explanation, tho.

The feeling of playing this immediately after RDR2 was strong. I felt John’s impatience and anger, cuz he’s doing all this because those 2 Pinkertons agents in the opening tracked him at his home in Beecher’s Hope in the end credits of RDR2. See in RDR2, we got revenge for Arthur by killing Micah. Micah was ofc-working with said Pinkertons. But we (as John) didn’t know Dutch was gonna be there. So if John didn’t show up, It’s more than likely Micah helped set-up a sting operation with the Pinkertons so they can finally catch Dutch…but ofc it didn’t end like that. So when the Pinkertons found Micah dead in the end credits, they must’ve thought it was Dutch, so they tracked him…but it only led to John…which makes sense given *we (as John) killed him. Now Ig it took the Pinkertons 3 years from 1907 to make a plan and MAKE John capture…”his former brothers in arms” because as john puts it “If i don’t do this, great harm with befall on my family” i think you can put 2 and 2 together what that means. Also it’s speculated from fans that John and Abigail tried to have another kid (his daughter) after RDR2 but it was a stillborn OR the death of his baby daughter happens before the events of RDR2 and why - when we play as John, his horse’s name is Rachel. Something to do with lore of how Cowboys name their horses after a lady they love and cherish dearly…but you can either chop it up as that Rachel was owned by the Geddes family (the people who gave John a job in the beginning of the epilogue) and she was just simply given to John. Hope this helps clarify some stuff. Great playthrough as always Jet!
I never thought of Micah possibly wanting to kill Dutch in the end, thats actually extremely interesting and i dont doubt that theory and what you said is really cool
- This game takes place in 1911, almost 4 years after RDR2's epilogue. It's accepted by most fans that between the two games John and Abigail had a daughter that died as an infant, however, there's debate about it because there's not much information. - John's family was taken by the Bureau of Investigations (now the FBI). Half of RDR2's credits set this up, with both agents investigating John's actions during American Venom (RDR2's final mission). - Something that's very misunderstood about the beginning is John getting shot. He was trying to be polite to Bill, trying to get him to give himself up (as he says to Bonnie) and got shot out of rustiness with the gun, given that he's been a farmer for the last few years. He hasn't been a gunslinger since RDR2's epilogue, something that's given more merit given how the mechanics are thought in this game (as Landon Ricketts teaching John stuff he "knew" back in RDR2). - The game you were probably thinking of was Red Dead Revolver, the first game in the series. It came out in 2004, however, the story isn't linked to the Redemption games. Characters and events from Revolver are treated as campsites myths in the Redemption series.
I remember playing this when I was 11. I remember thinking wtfff I didn’t know they made games like this. Replaying it for the first time in 13 years. Stoked for you to see what this ones all about.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is the best prequel in gaming, for so many reasons. The biggest is that you can play these games in either order and it still makes sense. I think it's a testament to RDR1 that people fell in love with the games world so much, even though a lot of the backstory's are left vague and implied. It certainly left a lot of room for RDR2 to cook, letting it become it's own masterwork without requiring RDR1 to understand. I feel like the question of "is john a fed" is kinda unfair, he's more like an unwilling pawn of the state at this point. I feel like calling him a fed would imply he was enthusiastic about the process of hunting down his former gang members.
First: Excited for the series second: Here’s some tips #1 use Dead eye (Aim+R3 if u forgot) #2 Use the combat roll (Aim+Square Button) #3 if ur trying to spare someone in a bounty instead of killing them hogtie em with ur lasso (it’s in ur L1 inventory and the controls are just like a gun) Hope these are beneficial and help u in ur journey of this game. RDR is a special series that I hope to see more ppl appreciate
bro u GOTTA watch the rdr2 lets play, probs the best on the channel imo also makes this game 100x better since its like a pre-sequel? cus rdr2 takes place before rdr1 and if u know what happens in rdr1 then it lowkey spoils a lot of 2
Im so glad I found this channel. Ive been so insanely depressed for no real reason recently and just his style of editing and stuff is so funny. Plus getting a borderline full feature film everytime he drops a video is dope. Thanks for what you do brother.
Im so happy you came back to this series. In the credits of rdr2 Theres cutscences and the two Pinkertons at the start track john down after he killed micah. And thats how they found him. Arthur told him not to look back. But john went out for revenge . A fools game
Hey jettro, i recently lost my grandma because of a stroke, and i just want to say that your videos have been helping me stay positive, but losing someone is still tough 😢
So the old Bureau agent guy with the mustache who was escorting John on the train is Edgar Ross, Agent Milton’s little companion during RDR2. He’s the main bad guy in this one. Also keep in mind, since this game came out many years ago, certain important characters that were in the second game won’t be referred to in this one since they weren’t ideas yet
@@godzillazfriction good question. I try to look at both sides of the situation. On John’s side, yeah he didn’t exactly have a good childhood and literally had to fight to survive. Seeing how Dutch rescued him, along with many other members of the gang, it makes complete sense that he was so dedicated to Dutch until the later years. Doesn’t make any of their crimes okay, but it’s understandable. Ross’s side of things are a bit complicated. He works for the law but that doesn’t necessarily make him a “good” person. He mocked Jack when he was fishing with Arthur, takes the credit for John’s work when hunting down the other members, and obviously from the way things end, doesn’t hold his side of a deal. If anything, John taking out Micah was basically a lesser evil trying to move on getting rid of a greater evil who’s still committing the same acts since we knew him from the start. The way I see it, Ross is not that different from Dutch. Both will fight for what they believe is the better utopia and both will use ruthless and hypocritical means of getting to it. The only major difference is one works for the law and the other against it. At least Milton gave the other members plenty of chances of letting the other members go in exchange for Dutch. Ross was never going to give John that chance. Is that a good answer?
@@blakeforkins7375 you are right on the nose about Ross & Dutch being essentially the same in essence but just operating in a different form of manner, however despite them drawing exact parallels with one another; both Dutch & Ross differ from the exemplification of a 'better utopia' - Dutch believes in it wholeheartedly like a Ideological/Philosophical Dogmatic stance that shouldn't be exactly be trifled with & despises imperialism for what it stands for, so that means that Dutch won't ever stop fighting because there's always a thing that compromises his standpoint/belief/viewpoints of a higher set of perceived standards that gets objectified in truth to what it should & shouldn't be as; Ross knows that Humans are fragile and feeble beings who need an idea to serve progression because that's the way of living as Humans despite it being garbage, however Ross believes in a better world of maintaining Humans through control & an idea for whatever it may be to keep Humans on the noose so that Humanity couldn't get on the loose because it'll just be like 'Hell' on Earth.
If you’re wondering, 1:13:55 John is referring to Dutch as seen before the gang fell apart in RDR2 Dutch was a strong charismatic and beloved leader of the og Van der Lin gang. He did have some decent morals and had taught the gang values and lessons until ultimately going mad in the end becoming a shell for who he was once viewed as. That’s why John claims him of once being a great man. He also indeed did teach him and Arthur how to read.
@@godzillazfriction It doesn't matter, what matters is what humans decide. We are the arbiters of this since we're the only ones who use it. So, most people will be able to decide what good or evil is. Also, on the individual level, you can be good to one person and evil to another. One doesn't cancel the other one out.
@@lum26akua28 so the ad populum fallacy is present... i guess you can't dissect anything against & for because 'Humans decide' & that's the absolute truth of the matter.
Jettro this happens in 1911 and RDR2 happens in 1899 so this is 12 years after the gang disbanded and 4 years after the Epilogue with John. Also you can press circle to talk to people there is no L2 then greet or antagonize like RDR2. The way you talk to people depends on your current honor level. Hope this helps!
The brilliance of Rockstar is that RD2, which in and of itself is an amazing game, makes RD1 a hundred times more compelling than it was initially. For "us oldies" who played through RD1, the talk of the gang was all anecdotal and not particularly compelling to be honest. After RD2, though, the story hits a WHOLE lot harder. It's genius.
Little tip for jett or anyone who doesnt know, you can constantly keep your horses stamina rising at full speed if you press A on every 3rd horse step like press clop clop press clop clop press. Just a lil smth
Some questions to clear up for you Jett and anyone else about RDR 1 with no spoilers: - Yes it's a sequel taking place in 1911 after the events of the Epilogue in RDR 2 which took place in 1907. - The majority of this game takes place in New Austin and Mexico, places which weren't explored that much or accessible in RDR 2. - John did have an infant daughter born somewhere between 1907 and 1911. It was hinted in RDR 2 where in a hidden encounter in John's house in Beecher's Hope, you can see Abigail knitting baby clothes hinting that she got pregnant either during the events of the Epilogue or after that. Sadly John's infant daughter died between the events of the Epilogue and RDR 1's present day story. - The mustache guy in the brown suit escorting John to the train is Edgar Ross. He was the right hand man of Agent Milton of the Pinkertons in RDR 2 going after Dutch's gang and even appeared in the credits of RDR 2 where he and his partner Forbes are spying on John with the binoculars to confirm that 'Jim Milton' was indeed John Marston who was a part ot Durch's gang. Remember the fishing mission with Arthur and baby Jack in RDR 2? Milton and Ross confront both of them where Ross jokes about Jack enjoying his fishing while he still can. Ross becomes head of the Pinkertons after Milton's death in RDR 2 which we see here in RDR 1. - Yes that's our not so lovable and not so intelligent Bill Williamson. After the whole 'betrayal' scene by Arthur and John at the end of RDR 2's main story. Dutch's last remaining gang members which included Bill and Javier (the Mexican dude who helped to save John with Arthur at the very beginning stage of RDR 2) broke up and went their seperate ways. I guess we can see what became of Bill here. His whole history with Dutch's gang reflects on his character here in RDR 1.
Edgar Ross was also the one leading the charge on The Van Der Linde gang in Arthur’s last mission. As John and Arthur run into the cave at the camp, Ross is yelling for them to surrender and turn themselves in.

I have been starved from jet content for 2 weeks and my TH-cam hasn’t been so dry for a long time, the rdr1 and twd eps are gonna be top tier
I mean, Blockbuster didn't go defunct until like 2014, I'm sure it was the RDR 1 that he saw at Blockbuster
Jet playing rdr1 before gta 6
lol we thought it'd be "Jet playing GTA 6 before RDR1" for a minute there
we got @Arthur_morgan69699 saying "Jet playing rdr1 before gta 6" before gta 6
Bro just be on his phone 🤣. Seems like an addiction
Nah fr like this was unlike Jett it maddens me how out of character he was here, getting bored and pulling out the device.
A youtuber hasn’t had me this hungry for content since Berleezy’s TWD S4 playthrough
U a real one
I remember playing this when I was 11. I remember thinking wtfff I didn’t know they made games like this. Replaying it for the first time in 13 years. Stoked for you to see what this ones all about.
WE ARE BACK BABY
43:09 bro ignored the person being chased n just shot random civilians😭😭😭
I guess Borderlands did a great job at it too, although it's not close to RDR games
I wasn’t around for RDR2 but I’m glad to be here for RDR1 let’s go!!
bro u GOTTA watch the rdr2 lets play, probs the best on the channel imo also makes this game 100x better since its like a pre-sequel? cus rdr2 takes place before rdr1 and if u know what happens in rdr1 then it lowkey spoils a lot of 2
@@biezom. But what if you played rd1 before rdr2 released?
@@biezom. I already that series like 20 times bro lmaoo he just makes the gameplay better the way he breaks down what’s going on you know? I love it 😂
Never played Rdr1 so I’ve been eagerly waiting to watch it through Jettro! This finna be a blast!
Jettro: So I recently got spoiled on something.
*Me getting flashbacks of all the moments that could be it😦
Jett: It is a sequal
Im so happy that’s all he knew 🫶
Hey jettro, i recently lost my grandma because of a stroke, and i just want to say that your videos have been helping me stay positive, but losing someone is still tough 😢
It’s ok bro, lost my grandpa a year ago. You gotta remember it’s okay to feel sad, and it’s always okay to cry.
So the old Bureau agent guy with the mustache who was escorting John on the train is Edgar Ross, Agent Milton’s little companion during RDR2. He’s the main bad guy in this one.
Also keep in mind, since this game came out many years ago, certain important characters that were in the second game won’t be referred to in this one since they weren’t ideas yet
not just certain characters it’s basically the entire cast of rd2 besides dutch,Javier and bill
@@Marlinkz_basically. I mean yeah, characters that were in this game were were referred to in the second but I won’t name names
@@blakeforkins7375i wonder if you actually believe in the 'bad' and the determination of it in regards to RDR1s Edgar Ross or just in general...
He also indeed did teach him and Arthur how to read.
no such thing as the concept of 'morality'...
@@godzillazfrictionYou good?
@@lum26akua28 you can't determine what's 'Good & Evil' in its absolute form of truth.
Red Dead Redemption 1: Takes place in 1911
Red Dead Redemption 2: Takes place in 1899
All the events with Arthur happened before the first game.
He listened to our prayers 🙏
My man Jett saw a woman getting stabbed to death and did nothing that's crazy🤣🤣🤣
I’m starting to think the idea of a second game being a prequel is all new territory for him lol.
Fr there's every indication that this is after Rdr2 and he's like "hmmm i just don't know, is this a sequel????"
Jett this game takes place about 12 years after Arthur’s death. John had a daughter sometime in those years and she died in those years too.
I'll be back after work but hit that thumbs up and LET'S GO JETT!!
At the very end of RDR2, when the Pinkerton agents find John's farm, that hits totally differently for those who played RDR1 first.
When I saw the ending of this game as a kid it broke me the very first game to every make me feel like that
jett edged us with this game forever but THE DAY HAS FINALLY COME 🗣️🙏
The brilliance of Rockstar is that RD2, which in and of itself is an amazing game, makes RD1 a hundred times more compelling than it was initially. For "us oldies" who played through RD1, the talk of the gang was all anecdotal and not particularly compelling to be honest. After RD2, though, the story hits a WHOLE lot harder. It's genius.
I have never been more excited for a series
This game is GOOD my man!!
Little tip for jett or anyone who doesnt know, you can constantly keep your horses stamina rising at full speed if you press A on every 3rd horse step like press clop clop press clop clop press. Just a lil smth
Literally reads out "Deadeye level 1 of 3"
Also Jett for almost the entire episode: "So there's really no deadeye?"
I remember going to blockbuster every weekend with my mom when I was like 5
You can use deadeye by pressing R3 while aiming. They told you in the begining but you didnt see.
This dude is actually the most underrated youtuber istg. Been with you since 50k i love seeing the progression man 🔥🔥
I just finished playing rdr 2 and now seeing jett play rdr 1 such a top moment in my life
Some questions to clear up for you Jett and anyone else about RDR 1 with no spoilers:
- Yes it's a sequel taking place in 1911 after the events of the Epilogue in RDR 2 which took place in 1907.
Me and my dad have been watching your RDR2 every night, he’s gonna be so stoked to see you playing the first
jettro: i want 50$
woman: it ain't about money
jettro: TRUE
i was playin rdr today and took a little break to scroll thru youtube n i saw this! trust me, you're in for a great game.
great video man, i'll be waiting for more!
Clicked this faster than flash running. 😤😤😤
Red Dead Redemption is the nail in the coffin of westerns. In the best way possible.
I like how everyone who plays RDR2 first thinks John's guide is Uncle lmao
I'm so happy to see you back AND see you on this game !! I haven't played it (but I played rdr2) and I will discover this game with you !!
This man has shot up the ranks of content creators, easily top 10-5. The work he puts in and the love he puts into these videos is top tier, good shit and here’s to a million, one day.
23:04 you can see John sleeping, and then when he gets startled if you look at his hand, he grabs for his gun goes to show what type of character he is and what he’s been through
Already fiending for the next episode
WE ARE SO BACK (You had me itchin my neck like a crackhead for some Jett content)
The two guys walking John from the intro were the same two who were looking for him in the credit scene in RDR2. The guy with the mustache is agent Ross he was Milton.
I haven't seen his RDR2 playthrough yet, but seeing how many things he runs into with the horses in this one lets me know how funny it was.
"revenge is a fools game"
i wonder if you actually believe in that quote just because of Arthur's saying which derived from Dutch's saying...
YESSSS JETT I JS WOKE UP FRM A NAP ND I KNEW JS KNEWWW THIS WAS COMING TD YOU GON LOVE THIS ONE JETT BTW IT TAKES PLACE 12 YEARS AFTER RDR2’s MAIN STORY AND 4 YEARS AFTER THE EPILOGUE I CANT WAIT FOR THIS EMOTIONAL ROLICOASTER
"is there a game before this?" yes brother not a lot people actually know about it , it isn't the same story but there has been some speculation that the mc of the game is actually a character that is in both rdr 1 and rdr 2 .
Game's Title : Red Dead Revolver (2004) for the PS2 and the original XBOX
Uncle being red is a cute theory but has 0 basis when you look into it
@@flowersforkurdt yes,i agree
This game, along with the Uncharted series, got me back into gaming after I stopped playing games for like 4 years. One of my all-time favorites. I think you'll love it Jett.
I hope he does a series on that to uncharted all of them are great games and I don't think they get a lot of the attention it deserves
John’s basically a bounty hunter. Like when he was helping Sadie in the epilogue of rdr2
That intro really was how I was feelin bro, I’m so hyped
You are not ready jet for the journey you’re going to go through
LETS GO! This feels like a DREAM right now! We have been waiting for this one🙏🏼
Day one of asking Jett to play until dawn
I started this after playing RDR2 a few months ago but stopped about halfway through. I’m determined to finish it now so I can watch all of your playthrough
1:24 wtf 😂😂
i’ve never seen red dead but i love jettro so much. happy to see this for the first time with him
i suggest you watch his other red dead redemption 2 series while waiting for this one i promise you wont regret it

Wish it was Mafia still first but just glad we back. Love you Jettro!
this was the first game i bought on my ps3 my goodness it was so fun back then playing online team deathmatch was absolutely amazing i loved every bit of this game
Well in rdr 2 Arthur told to John not look back and John didn't kept his promise because he came back for Micah and didn't continue his life so the cops foud him and threat him and his family to do all jobs and find your old gang
Jett, you can press O (circle) to greet people. John will tip his hat and say various cowboy sayings.
THE GOAT HAS RETURNED!
Who is Jettro? For the blind, he is light.
For the hungry, he is food. For the sick, he is the cure.
For the sad, he is joy.
For the poor, he is Tahiti; for the debtor, he is Thomas Downes.
got chills reading this.
If you remember in the credits of RDR2 you see agent Ross and another Pinkerton asking around about John and finding him
Should have watched a small recap over rdr2 to remember it a little bit more jett
MY GLORIOUS KING…JETTRO…oh where do I even start…
