Hi Rodrigo, The CompactFlash card is only meant to be a backup for the program on the PLC. It is not possible to connect to it using a computer. To access the program on the card first load the card in a controller and then download from the controller to the laptop to edit it. Then you can upload the program to the PLC and back it up on the CompactFlash card. If you have further questions or concerns, please reach out to your local Rockwell Automation distributor for personalized support.
Hello, When you store a project to a memory card, the settings will define when the backup program needs to initiate. User Initiated means the manual user decides when the backup program loads. This can also be changed to initiate On Power Up, or On Corrupt Memory on the original program. For any other information, please refer to Rockwell Automation Publication 1756-PM017J-EN-P (literature.rockwellautomation.com/idc/groups/literature/documents/pm/1756-pm017_-en-p.pdf) or Rockwell Technote ID QA25902 (rockwellautomation.custhelp.com/app/answers/answer_view/a_id/676536). Hello Josh, I understand how to make the PLC auto load the project to the controller through the SD card on power up, but how do you make the controller able to read/write on the sd card in regards to using recipes?
Hi Mike, Recipes can be put on the SD card from the HMI, but not the PLC. This TechNote explains how to go about that process: rockwellautomation.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/502272 Please contact your local Rockwell Automation distributor if you have any questions or concerns.
good video thanks! it seems that this is only used to load/store the program to/from the PLC, can you store any other type of data on it or is this the only use for it?

Hello, The password does not affect your ability to save and load the program, as it is part of the controller properties, not the program. The controller will always ask for the most recent password, regardless of if you have saved or loaded the program. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your local Rockwell Automation distributor. Thank you!
Hello Josh, Thank you for your question. Yes it is possible to transfer the program using the SD card as long as the two controllers are the same model (part number). The nonvolatile memory card programming guide goes over the steps to back the program up to the SD card and download it to a new controller: literature.rockwellautomation.com/idc/groups/literature/documents/pm/1756-pm017_-en-p.pdf Please reach out to your local Rockwell Automation distributor if you have any questions or concerns.
